Thank you so much! It helps a lot 😊❤
Very cool! I think that your art is wonderful!
Ive been watching your videos and they been very helpful! Thank you very much!
thanks lady you're the best
Your video's are fantastic!
+DesireeTN Thanks, Desiree.
Thanks! I just made some last night. I'm excited to try using it.
I hope you had fun with it.
@@UltimatePaperMache Thanks. I haven't used it yet but I was looking for an inexpensive mold making material so I can help my high school sculpture students understand the mold making process. This seems perfect. Thanks a bunch.
Mam, Recieved your reply & giving a very Thankfull returns to you for the same. I always open your video's & learning too much from it.
I made your recipe to make a mold of a figurine I wanted to copy. I was amazed how the gelatin copied the details precisely. I used a milk carton to hold everything and used the whole quart. The mold is delicate and you have to handle it with care. I don’t see getting a lot of pours. But that’s ok I only need one or two and I should be able to melt it and make a new mold. This process is also fast. I mixed the gelatin and made the mold in the morning and I had a duplicate by the evening. Thanks great video.
I'm glad it worked well for you. It does shrink a little after a few hours, so you're right that it only works for one or two castings. But a lot of times, that's all you really need anyway. 😺
great video,I like this method better :-). Ps...you should do a beauty regimen video, your skin is so smooth and pore free!
Extremely helpful I found your video because I was searching online for recipes to make my own artificial worm/fishing Lewers but nothing told you how to mix it properly except for you thanks again.
I didn't realize you could use this for lures. I hope it works for you.
Ultimate Paper Mache how long are you letting it dry for? The stuff I made is soft and stretchy like I want it to be but it melts at around body temperature. Could that be that I'm not mixing it properly? What temperature does yours melt at.
I don't dry it - I left it in an open jar for several months, and it did shrink a little, but not much. I don't use it for what you use it for. This is a stronger version of Jello, so it will start to melt at anything higher than normal room temps. Maybe you need to use a different material for your lures. It will probably start to disintegrate if left for a long time in water, too.
@@claypoole90 First, it's spelled "lures". Second, try using 100% silicone caulking for the worm.
Love your tutorials! You must have been a teacher in your other life.If you get bubbles you just let the mixture sit for a little while, then lay plastic wrap on top, then lift it and all the bubbles will come with it! If a few are left just use small bits of the wrap to pick up the rest.
Great idea, Charlotte. Thanks!
thank you so much
You're welcome! 😀
Very nice maam! I am a hobby woodworker picking up resin casting art,I am sure this will help and looking forward to part 2 :-) thank you so very much.
Hello. You can find the second video in the series here: ruclips.net/video/wyxpYWvGU2Q/видео.html
Ultimate Paper Mache Thank you so much:-)
these made me sleepy.. tnx
Awesome! Thank you for the tutorial ^_^
😊
Hi. Do you happen to know to make the hydrogel multilayer (either different color layers, different densities or different texture)?
Damn, that's useful even for engine rebuild, thank you!
😊
... Thank you, thank you for your wonderful video ... I need chiedertiuna thing: what materials can create a positive with the negative into glycerin and gelatin?
You can use anything that won't soak up the water in the glycerin. Oil-based clay should work just fine.
Hi. Just a little tip to help you not get lumps. Mix the glycerin with the gelatin before you add any water. It will mix very smoothly. I make cosmetic and personal care products and use xanthan and guar gum a lot and life is so much easier since I discovered that little trick. Thanks for making this video. I am looking to make cheap molds for soap and candles. Will they work for that do you think?
I have no idea. It sounds like an idea worth trying, though. Let us know if it works!
Would you be able to reverse the process and put the jelly material into the cast?
I love your videos even though I don't work in paper mache. Oh, by the way, LOVE your giraffe banner. I assume you're watching April, too, right? LOL Me too.
Easy way to use it with papier mache. Freeze the mold. I've done something similar with the silicone caulk+naptha pourable mold material, and using EVA foam clay. Once you make your mold, and put your medium into the mold (in my case, EVA foam clay) then you put the whole thing in the freezer overnight. The mold stays fairly pliable, and the foam clay freezes. Makes separating them a snap. YMMV.
Great tip - thanks!
Nice very helpful......Is the final product sticky at all? TFS
It didn't stick to the clay or the foil. When it's liquid it's like Jello, but without the sugar. When it sets up it's more like rubber, but I'm sure it would be absorbed by anything that was really porous. I wouldn't try it with unsealed paper, for instance.
Hello !
I'm so glad to come upon your video !
I'm trying to make Gelatin sculpture but those doesn't last obviously ... Do you think I can use this way to maintain them for 2 or 3 months ? It would be so great!
If so, I hope I will manage the dosage.. Reading the comments, it seems to be a little difficult but i will try it anyway, I need a solution..
Thanks. :)
I'm not sure about that. I do know I kept an open jar of the mold material on my kitchen counter for about six months, and the only change was that it shrank a bit. If it was an actual sculpture, though, the shrinking might matter. You'll have to experiment. Let us know what you learn.
Great videos I've been learning how to make a bunch of stuff and only just noticed that they were all from you. One question though. How does this hold up to shrinkage? Have you noticed any of your molds shrinking or cracking with age?
+Zathamiel also another question is I understand that silcone and the like heats up while they cure. You think this would hold up to casting silicone or if im gonna bother working with silicone I should invest in good mold material to avoid spills and loss of material?
+Zathamiel The material will shrink unless it's really well-sealed with plastic. I think this recipe is really best for one or two uses, and then melted down and used for something else. For long-term use, silicone would be a better choice.
+Ultimate Paper Mache Yes, I'd say that if you're spending the money on silicone, you should get a professional grade silicone product for the mold, too. I really like using the Rebound 25 from Smooth-on because it's brushed on and you don't have to use nearly as much as the poured silicone mold products/
1 cup liquid is 8 fluid oz. Q cup dry is 8 oz. But the volume is different for dry compared to liquid....that's why the term " fluid oz" comes into play.
hi i would like to know, do these molds ever go to waste?? get fungus or something else?
I need some advice I have to make a panto/stage prop, is a comedy sized jelly, so it needs to look and wobble like a jelly, but not go off/mouldy and not be sticky and damage costumes. I am looking for most cost effective solution as budget not massive, I'm in the uk
Why can't you use this recipe? It wobbles, if it isn't contained. And it never seems to grow mould, although I don't know why - I kept mine in an open jar on the kitchen counter for about six months, and it didn't go bad. And it isn't sticky. Give it a try.
Very nice, this gelatin mould, I have not made yet thinking that when it goes drying the size of the mould will change. Is it correct. (My thinking).
+sayeed baig The batch I made for this video has been sitting in an uncovered jar on the kitchen counter, and it did lose some of it's height. I have to assume that would happen with a mold as well. Covering it would help, but I think these molds are intended for a projects that only need a few copies. For long term use, you'd want to use silicone or latex, I think.
this is awesome!curious....could I use this to pour over a baked polymer clay sculpture? thanks in advance :]
I think it might work, but I've never tried it.
I wonder if you can cast concrete/cement with these. Haven't seen anything around.
I don't think it would work, because the gelatin would draw water from the concrete, which takes a long time to set up. Also, concrete heats up a little as it cures, and that would melt the gelatin. I think you need to consider using a latex mold.
Is this non-toxic and do you think it will hold detail well for small toys like 3-5 cm in size? Thank you wonderful video.
I don't think it would hold up for a lot of copies, but it does hold nice detail for the first casting. And I think it's non-toxic, and I know the gelatin is food-grade, and the glycerin is sold in drug stores - but be sure to read the labels to be sure. I can't imagine anyone wanting to eat it. ;)
You make me smile and laugh every time I watch this video - which I’ve watched tons! I love this video. Thanks for making me smile, your tutorial is fab! 😊
Thought, like jello, you add hot water first (no lumps), then cold water slowly?
The way it was done in the video works well. You can try doing it another way if you want to. Experiments are fun.
once it hardens it stay hard or solid? ot wont melt down when it warms? could i add coloring to it to make it solid?
At room temp it's a slightly wobbly solid. If you warm it up again, it will melt. Coloring would not make it solid - it's gelatin.
Mam which material for making concrete pot moulds??? please reply me
The P. David Jensen's RUclips channel would have the answer for you. You can find his channel here: ruclips.net/channel/UCN5CClHinLXeIFyUT0GDjtw
i was just wondering if this gelatin mold is edible?? very helpful video thank you!
I have no idea. Try searching for gelatin mold on candy or cake decorating sites. They might know. I wouldn't eat it myself.
I don't know. Try searching for gelatin molds on a cake decorating or candy making site. They might be able to tell you. I wouldn't eat it myself.
I've cast small concrete items with this and plaster of paris. Do you think grout would work?
I have no idea. You actually have a lot more experience with it than I do. 😄
Have you tried mixing the gelatin and water to dissolve and then adding the glycerin? Seems like it would dissolve easier that way.
I haven't tried it. Have you?
will this work with clay and yeso mold ?
I don't know what a clay and yeso mold is.
Hey, will it work if i use agar powder instead of gelatin? In my place is hard to find gelatin.
I don't know, because I've never seen that in our stores. You'll need to do some experiments.
Can I use normal glycerine or it has to be the vegetable one?
I only used this recipe a few times with my experiments, so I haven't tried all the possible variations. You might find someone else on RUclips who uses the gelatin and glycerin molds who would be more helpful.
If I can ask why is so much glycerin needed for this recipe ? What is the purpose of properties of using the glycerin in this recipe ? Just trying to understand so I can attempt this and experiment with adding and subtracting products to make a even better mold for casting resin parts. Thanks for ur help and reply to this question should you find time in your busy schedule I’d appreciate that. God Bless and enjoy ur day.
I'm not a chemist, so I really can't answer your questions. For an expert answer you might want to ask Ken at: www.observationsblog.com/sciencetechnologyexperiments/reusable-molding-material-homemade
Can i cast this with silicone rubber?
I don't know.
Can you cast melt and pour soap in the gelatin mold?
I have no idea. You'd need to do an experiment, or maybe ask someone who specializes in making soap.
Will this work with concrete?
I don't know. You'd have to try it. Concrete does stay wet for quite a while, and it warms up while it's curing, so it might soften the gelatin - but you could do some experiments and find out.
Odd Question. Would the solid mix dissolve if you leave it in water?
+roelof kruger Probably - but I'm not sure. If you try it, please let us know what happens.
Do you have any experience with freezing the mold ?
No. Have you tried that?
i want to make a sfx makeup. like a crown melted on a head does this work to make the melted effect ?
Maybe, but it could melt if the room gets warm. Maybe hot glue dripped on the crown would work?
@@UltimatePaperMache i will try this. thk u for the advice
This is interesting and I may have to try that soon. I wonder how well it would work with resin and also if it can be used with polymer clay and baked in the oven with the clay inside. Looks I don my mad scientist jacket again soon. :p
- Heidi
+BlackCat2 I have not used the GelGoo with resin, but I do know other people have tried it, and it seems to work just fine. However, you absolutely can not (I repeat - can not) put the gelatin in the oven. It melts at 130F and all of it will end up on the floor of your oven. That would make a very stinky, icky mess. Please don't do that.
For the more scientific questions, you might want to check out this site -www.observationsblog.com/sciencetechnologyexperiments/reusable-molding-material-homemade
Ultimate Paper Mache Thanks for that link. I plan to use cut soda cans as the container for the mold so it might be okay if I keep it in there. I could also bake the clay at a lower temp and for longer time. Maybe that would work.
Normally I bake my clay at 175 but perhaps I could bake it at 125 and just increase how long it bakes. Worth a shot anyway. :D
+BlackCat2 I have a strong suspicion that you'll have problems with it - but do try it, anyway. The GelGoo (love that name) is quite a bit softer than Super Skulpey, and I think it would be really hard to get the clay pressed into the mold without breaking the mold itself. But if you can get it to conform to the GelGoo, why couldn't you just pull out the clay and bake it without the mold surrounding it? Even if the gel doesn't melt all the way, it will be pretty much liquefied at any temperature that's hot enough to bake the clay. And it will release a lot of water as steam into the oven.
Keep us posted, though. I'm really interested to see what happens when you try it.
Ultimate Paper Mache *big smile* so glad you love that name. :)
I could pull out the clay but now that you mentioned about the solid clay maybe breaking it I could use liquid clay. Either that or use Fimo soft and make sure to condition it well. I watched the 2nd video on that link and realized I can use it with resin. Also with candle wax which I do for fun :)
Will keep you updated. Might do a video on my nettypreat channel if I figure out why my camera stops now when recording video.
This is made with food products, right? How long can this last? Can a mold made with this method last forever?
I think it's really best for one or two uses. For a permanent mold, you'd want to use plaster of Paris or silicone.
:D I hear a puppy!!!
After you make that casting eith the gelatin...does it shrink from the orginak day week or months from the master casting
I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I think this material is only intended to be used as a temporary mold. It will shrink a little and change shape, you you'd want to make your castings as soon as you can after the mold is made.
Hello.. Is it possible to pour liquid lead or molten aluminum into a gelatin and glycerin mould.. I am waiting for your reply, thank you
I have no experience with molten metal of any kind, but heat will instantly melt the gelatin. I'm pretty sure you'll make a big mess if you try it.
@@UltimatePaperMache Yes, I think it's true, maybe it will create chaos.. but I just wanted to make sure.. Greetings to you.
Why do you add glycerin instead of only water???
Does it melt at room temperature???
I just followed a recipe I found online. I don't know what the chemical reason for the glycerin is. It stays solid at room temperature.
Years ago I made, a similar jello. I poured it in a square cake tray and let it get hard. Next I placed a sheet of mimeograph paper in my typewriter and wrote a story without errors. I then laid the blue stencil onto the surface of my jello and waited for the ink to infuse into the jello. I peeled off the stencil and there was my story in reverse. I next laid a clean sheet of paper over my jello and gently pressed it onto the jello's surface using a short rolling pin. When I peeled the paper off, my story was on the paper in blue letters. I could make one copy after another until the letters began to become less readable. Around 50 copies. I could swear that the recipe was the same except for possibly the addition of some brown sugar. Have you ever heard of this?
Interesting! I've heard of a printing process similar to this, but I've never tried it. It sounds like fun. 😀
I've been thinking of doing a paper machete of Noahs ark. Could you give me some ideas on how to put one together?
I'd probably make it out of cardboard, and after all the pieces were taped together and looking the way I wanted it to, I'd cover it with paper mache. Let us know how your ark turns out.
Hello Jonnie,
I followed your recipe and directions to the letter yet my mixture was thick, gluggy and cloudy ?
I microwaved it in an attempt to melt it down but with little results.
I then added more boiling water and glycerin hoping that this would achieve the clear liquid viscosity of yours... unfortunately it did not :(
I have placed it in a container to cure in the hope that once it has set I might be able to once agin melt it down slowly to a good working consistency and try again.
If you have any advice regarding my dilemma I would greatly appreciate it... thank you :)
+April Palmer Gosh, April - I have no idea why it didn't work. I have seen some tutorials where people pour the liquid material through a sieve to get the cloudiness out. I didn't have that problem, but it must be something that happens fairly often. Try warming it up again and then filter out the gobs.
+Ultimate Paper Mache Thanks for your reply Jonnie, I did melt it again and ended up adding 5 cups of water in total to the mix... but I think I still need to repeat with another melting and maybe one more cup of water to get the right consistency. I have no idea why it became so thirsty ?? @¿@
Thanks again :)
can i use shampoo or bating soup instead of glycerine
I have no idea. You'd have to try it.
Hi, I tried it, however, the material does not solidify. 12 hours now, one at room temperature, the other in the fridge, still running like water. What could have gone wrong? Thanks
Maybe you got the gelatin too hot? I'm not an expert in this stuff. Mine stiffened up as soon as it cooled.
Maybe it was the wrong type of gelatine or glycerine. I tried the method of observationsblog as well, same result. I tried different mixture, same result. I left it outside at below freezing point, same result. It just stays liquid. I will get other brands of gelatine and glycerine. Thank you
Guenter Dannhauer Which brands did you use?
Does it have to be that particular gelatine
No, but it does have to be pure gelatin, and not Jello or anything with sugar and other ingredients added.
Ultimate Paper Mache thanks for reply
how long does it take to dry
to cure i mean. how long did the mask take to cure , gelatin mold
+urjnlegend I used plaster cloth for the casting, and it will be hard and strong within 24 hours. The gelatin material never cures - you put in the microwave to make it liquid, and it turns thick again as it cools.
Gelcrin..... or..... Gelrin
You live 1000 years 😊😊😊😃😃😃😃😊
😀
Gelatin
what kind of glycerin solution did you use? is vegetable glycerin usable?
Can i use it to make gelatin toys????
I have no idea. I don't even know what that is.
@@UltimatePaperMache can you tell me the mold you made can be stretched like rubber???
@@zeeshanmughal176 No, not really. It's more like a firm Jello - it will easily come apart if you pull on it.
@@zeeshanmughal176 Maybe this is more like the recipe you want: ruclips.net/video/FE_ps20YHro/видео.htmlsi=BH7-Nv_BE2lwsCMk
So its proportion should be
gelatin : water : glycerin = 4 : 5 : 12
am I right?
Im going to make something crazy hehehehe🤪
Great! 😊
Too long....
