    I have been sort of addicted to porn since I was 13 (plus I also had a very traumatic childhood). My friends had introduced me to it, and at first, I was very reluctant to watch it but then my friends talked me to it and since then I have been sort of addicted. Like it didn’t affect much of my life but it did affect a lot of things. I think because of porn I became dull and my grades have been going down. I feel like I have become more dumb because of it. Recently I decided to stop watching porn and now looking at your video I think I will also try to avoid semi-porn, like reading smut. I am turning 16 this December, hope by the time I'm 17 I get rid of this addiction.

If more people understood that pron is one of the main promoters of misogyny and gender violence it would be forbidden worldwide, greetings from Mexico.

I'd suggest any issue relating to men watching porn is solely due to psychological issues rather than the act of either masturbating watching porn or just watching porn and getting off. If men could perhaps take a better view of it themselves and society does not stigmatise it and place 'social pressures' on men due to 'sleaziness' then I'm sure any brain imaging test results would show normality and good health.

    @macfranks2456 Год назад +4

    Humans are born with a sinful nature. Some of the things we wind up doing are simply because of that sinful nature. However, many of the things we do are because we yield to temptations. The author of our temptations is the fallen angel we now call Satan. He knows human behaviour very well and he also knows the temptations he can put in our minds that each of us could most likely surrender to. This is because he studies us.
    I do not believe someone can permanently once and for all eliminate their tendency to porn or masturbation or edging or fornication or adultry or stealing or lying or any other sinful behaviour on our own. We do have to decide that we are going to change our behaviours and make a commitment to do so. However, changing these behaviours on our own and permanently is not possible just on our own.
    We need the help of the Spirit of God through prayer. When we are tempted and these thoughts are placed in our mind by Satan we need the help of the Spirit to make them depart from us and provide us with the strength to resist. Otherwise, we are always going to be relapsing and falling back and then comes the guilt and despair of failure. The more we apply the power of the Spirit to resist the less powerful the temptations become and the easier it becomes for us to successfully resist.
    I have had a problem with something called rumination or ruminiscing for many years. It is because of many bad and hurtful things that have happened to me in my life. This problem even invades my dreams. It feels like PTSD where I am reliving old horrible hurts as if they just happened but in fact they happened years ago. When one of these old problems comes back up in my mind I experience the same emotions and the same hurt as if it is happening now. I have anxiety and fear, my heart rate skyrockets and it is followed by sadness, futility and depression. I hate it.
    The only way I have been able to over come this is with prayer and prayer has worked. I now have far fewer of these incidents any more and once I pray about one that comes back up it goes away almost immediately now. They do not go away permanently though which is because the tempter never quits. All of these sinful addictions work this same way. They can be overcome successfully and permanently through prayer.

I guess imagine a newly off the wagon by two weeks alcoholic who in a moment of weakness or even forgetfulness as he/she adjusts to their new life has a sip of wine at dinner with friends... if they catch themselves and stop themselves without beating themselves up they can move forward without going on a bender... but if they view that sip as a relapse, they might just go FUCK IT, the two weeks are wasted, I'll start again tomorrow. That's my hot take. I'm 5 months off the porn and not jerking off, but I've definitely had moments on Instagram looking at sexy ladies... but the deprogramming is working as when I catch myself doing it, I just stop.

    Great video. I scroll through my news feed, and there’s Julia Fox wearing... well, we all know what Julia Fox wears. Then, there’s Florence Pugh and all the other celebrities who now like to wear see-through clothing. I don’t have to seek it out; it shows up all by itself, undoubtedly because of cookie or my history of clicking on similar content.
    Also, I’d like to explore the relationship between porn and junk food addictions. It seems to me there is a strong similarity, at least in my own life. Junk Food Rewire? Just a thought 🙂

    Just curious, why would a rated r movie, an instagram model, etc not affect a healthy mind? I feel like that would affect them in that similar way porn is so attractive... it causes a dopamine hit, wouldnt it? For us it might trigger a path in the mind, but would it is so soft core compared to what we had, wouldnt it start the desire vs give a hit since they are so not used to stimulation? Just curious to understand ma'am. Thank you so much for your vids btw.

    Shades of porn:
    - Romance literature
    - The hallmark channel
    - The Song of Solomon (The Bible)
    - A day at the beach, a wedding, a high school dance…
    - Slit skirts, backless dresses, low cut jeans, yoga pants, sheer blouses, high heels, lipstick, push-up bras, etc
    The war on porn is often a war on sex, especially the male sex drive. Instead of frustrating the male sex drive, it is far better to direct it toward positive action. (Married men and fathers build civilizations). The answer to sexual frustration is not living in a sexual desert, but a sexually fulfilling marriage.
    The epidemic of sexless marriages is a huge driver of porn usage. Addressing porn while failing to address sexless and passionless marriage is a futile effort. IOWs the feminist approach destroys marriages (it is one of their stated goals) and then shames males for wanting sex. Too much of the porn outrage is simply protecting the imbalance of power that women enjoy over men through their sexuality. The anti porn zealots would that males be castrated, rather than tell wives that they do not have the right to regulate sex in the marriage.
    It is ironic that the loud opposition to porn usage is silent when it comes to fornication. Better to bang a hoe than masterbate with visual aids. And how dare I call a woman a hoe for exercising her sexual autonomy. Porn is not the root cause, it is a rational response to the real sexual dysfunction in society that has been normalized. Porn is the scapegoat for the feminist’s destruction of marriage and their advocacy of promiscuity. Fix sexless marriage and stop fornication and the porn issue will become far less pervasive.
    Of course family courts make marriage a gamble with bad odds. A wife on a caprice can steal her husband’s home, children and future income. Delay of marriage is a recipe for sexual frustration. Let’s tell men when their testosterone is peaking to become celibate monks, and young women at the peak of fertility that she should focus on her career and by such messaging society has created a fornication epidemic. But porn is the scapegoat, because when women want sex it is good and wholesome, but when men do it is oppressive and needs to be thwarted. Men who can’t have sex for any reason (either a sexless marriage or they are not alpha enough to bed a hoe) don’t become geldings, but turn toward their imagination to live out a portion of their God given sexual nature.
    The moral indignation is misplaced by both the feminists and the right, but then I repeat myself.

      The Song of Solomon is beautiful poetry that is ultimately intended to show the loving relationship between Jesus Christ and his bride, the Church. I have read this book and was never aroused by reading its content as Jesus Christ loves his bride so much that he died for her and wants his bride, the Church, to be holy and blameless. The Song of Solomon was never intended to be a Kamasutra/porn manual for the Christian.

    Hey Dr. Leigh I really would appreciate your help on a problem I've been having on my porn-free journey. I get what I call a "mega-urge". Usually urges and withdrawal symptoms like anxiety/irritation, or lack of motivation and fatigue are all things which I can handle. But eventually I get this "mega-urge", which is basically the desire to want to watch and masturbate to porn and it feels like I cannot do anything. It's a physical sensation too, I get anxiety, my heart starts beating faster, and I have constant thoughts of wanting to watch porn. The problem is that it feels like I have ZERO control over it. I go outside, take a cold shower, just get out of my room and do something, but once I come back in and stop the activity I was doing, those thoughts/feeling reemerge. It literally feels horrible and something that I can't get over. Its been the #1 cause of my relapse over the years. How do I deal with this? Why is this happening? I really need your help, and would appreciate any comments.

      I know exactly what you are talking about. Been doing nofap for 5 years, or trying to anyway. Every little bit of learning and awareness we can get helps, like Dr Trish's videos etc...but the only thing that truly set me free from these, what I call "existential urges" (the simple fact that you are alive, have an active sex drive, and have experiential knowledge of the pleasure of sexual release gives you an urge, and this is even when you have done absolutely nothing wrong to tempt yourself or feed lustful thoughts) is crying out and praying to God. Once I humbled myself to admit that I am powerless to control this, and that I need God to help me, it was like managing it became 100x easier.

      That my friend, sounds like demonic influence. Which is much more prevalent and subtle in our world than most people really realize. It’s an evil spirit that is luring you and trying to seduce you with thoughts to arouse you and suck you back into the slavery of this sexual abomination. That’s the reason why the urge is more than just a natural hormonal fluctuation, it’s much more powerful and seductive. And that is not something you or I or any person can possibly get away from or stand against with our will. The only people who do make it out who don’t have Christ in their life, are the ones who the evil spirit let’s go of to let them wander into even more dangerous sin. The idea they themselves are strong, making them ignorant and blinding them of their need of Christ. The one who has all authority, the one who has all power, the one who is all loving, who loves and delights in mercy, our life giver our refuge our protector our shepherd our king our Heavenly Father!! When you turn to Him and seek Him you’ll find the truth and yes THE not A truth. You can’t go to the father.. you can only come to the father if you first go to His son. If you reject His son you reject the father and the father rejects you. Christ came to save you, from the slavery of sin on a road headed for hell. He came to reconcile us to His father that by believing in Him and repenting from our sin we saved from the fathers wrath for our sins. And when you have been given faith, Christ gives you His spirit to dwell within you. To transform your heart from your old sinful nature into His heart to do good works. Without the Holy Spirit within you, you have no power to overcome this battle. But if you are already a Christian and belong to Christ please respond and I’ll try to give further advice that Iv been given from godly men who have helped me. May the lord open your eyes to see and your ears and your heart to yearn to listen to His word and be brought joy and realize His love for you.

No time wasting, or getting scammed on dating sites, its mostly free so you save not only time but dollars that could have been wasted on a sexless useless date or associated dating expenses. You can be just about sure of getting off, and relieving stress and its also good for your prostate and health all round - as long as you don't think of yourself as a dirty sleazeball low life.

    what counts as healthy fantasy?

    • @DrTrishLeigh
      @DrTrishLeigh  6 месяцев назад +5

      Healthy sexual fantasy would be more like mental foreplay about the experience you’re about to have… Leading you toward your partner, not away. Thinking about being with a partner in the present, in preparation to do so.
      Not thinking about a high dopamine unreality to escape from your current reality. Time to leave that behind. ❌ when you heal your brain, 🧠 it doesn’t need that anymore.
