Why he choses to be a Filipino. We have everything here, free to walk everywhere, free to talk, and rights as a person, can go around even until dawn. Nobody will questions you as long as you are doing good in this country. This is real happenings compared to people who are throwing bad interpretations to the gov't...this is what we are in Philippines. We are kind people helping one another. We are not born rich but we are taught how to survived. We used to it because we are always visited by typhoons. Our resiliency was practiced or experienced and we can apply it in any battle, in war, for better or for worst.h

Very interesting interview. This guy, Basel was truly transformed by the culture and love he found in the Philippines. That is an amazing experience, a miracle perhaps. He found his purpose in life in his new found land and home! How could you not be attracted to live in the Philippine? People are friendly, caring and loving. People can still smile and laugh even in tough times. Where in the world can you find that? Only in the Philippines, the land of Ophir, Tarshish Sheba and Havilah (ancient Philippine as recorded in the Bible).

I am assuming, the reason behind the family not meeting him for 9 years is for security. They are refugees. The family will have to set their own future outside their home country. I think his families from France and Saudi Arabia needed to stay in the country for 10 years just like Basel did in order to be recognized as full pledged citizen of that country to get the privileges of what the locals get from the government. I think everyone including him talked about this (I assumed). Though it is sad, we are not in their shoes to judge as we never experienced what they had to give up. But Kudos to him.
