@@SimonsShed Thanks very much Simon for replying to my comment. That's the great part about the hobby sharing ideas and learning new ideas from other people to improve our Channel. Take care and stay safe DD
Excellent video. I`m waiting for my Deltic to arrive, a DP1 is next on the list. The delights of having a heritage layout! And what stone hearted oaf couldn`t adore a channel with a name like `Piddle In The Marsh!`
Always a good idea to take lots of photos and a video of the loco being disassembled. I was a little surprised you didn't test it before you put the body back on. I've been told it's a good idea to put the model inside a clear plastic bag when removing springy bits.
Simon, thank you for an excellent educational video, on a DIY restore of an old much loved model. It has made me think if it is worth a purchase from an auction site followed by a DIY Simon’s Shed restore? Can we have more videos like this please especially useful for novices such as myself. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the informative video. The buffers are hard to fix back on. I accidentally pulled of a buffer of a new class 122 I purchased athe N Gauge Show and it took a lot of attempts to fix it back on!
Hi Simon, enjoyed watching you service the Deltic! I'm so lacking in confidence when it comes to taking locos apart I don't think I'll ever be able to strip one down completely like this! Keep up the good work! All the best, Ian.
Hi Ian thanks for watching. It was a bit scary I must admit...easy to lose those tiny screws. My advice would be get a good magnifying glass/headset and start with a diesel loco...I'm not brave enough to take the coupling rods of a set of steam loco wheels yet! 🚂
Thanks for the video Simon, I guess for Farish at least the method for taking them apart is fairly standard. By the way where did you get your magnetic tipped screwdriver, I haven’t been able to find a good one. Cheers
Yes a lot of the diesel locos are similar in terms of taking them apart. I think the screwdriver was just in a kit I bought to repair something (Nintendo Switch maybe?) so not much help there I'm afraid! 🚂
Very good video Simon you put together liked and shared thanks DD.
Thanks for watching 👍

There's a parallel universe full of coupligs and buffers and no trains 😁 Ciao Simon!
Ha ha you might be right! Ciao!
Great job Simon!!! Well done! Cheers Onno.
Thank you! Cheers!

Thanks for watching 👍 yes I'd like to get a Deltic to run on the Severn Valley Line at some point.
Hi Simon A very nice informative video, I too would like to see maybe a few more examples of these serviceing videos. Thanks
Yep, more to come, I do enjoy making these although its a bit scary when the loco is in bits!
well done and nice video tutorial

Thanks, all great suggestions, and having the video to look back on when I come to the reassembly has been very useful at times! 👍
Hi I’ve copied your process for my prototype Deltic . Thank you very much Robert

Yep there was no way I could do it on camera, took ages!

You can always magnetise a screwdriver by running it up and down a magnet.
