Holistic Movement Design - Documentation of Hiroaki Umeda’s International Tour

Hiroaki Umeda’s works have been performed in over 150 cities in 40 countries: they have been invited to theaters and festivals around the world, including the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris, which has collaborated with him as a co-producer. Beyond his activities as a choreographer and dancer, his wide range of projects include producing installations focused on physical sensation and working on the Somatic Field Project, which trains up-and-coming dancers and develops movements based on his own Kinetic Force Method.
In the summer of 2024, Umeda landed in Spain in order to perform his new work “assimilating” as well as “Moving State 1,” a production featuring four dancers from Somatic Field Project, at Veranos de la Villa, Madrid’s largest festival of culture and the arts. Through footage of the festival performances and rehearsals, an interview that goes behind the scenes of Umeda’s works, and more, we delve into the world of his works, in which original movement and visual images fuse together, and look at what makes them so fascinating.
