    6:20 That is a very good Anti-Frustration Mechanic right there. Like the PACs from Kane's Wrath or Tiberium Wars you don't have to worry about rebuilding the individual fighters lost so long as the PAC is still alive it'll do it on its own.

      My dream is that there are tons of RTS mechanics tied into the tempest fields. For example that if you let them grow you will accumulate much more in the long run than if you harvest them quickly. Meaning you have a clear way to design rush strategies or turtle/macro strategies. With counter play like harassing the fields or going on the map and harvesting already grown. So many possibilities!

    8:39 I think going with a brighter color pallet for the factions would be a good idea, or at least add more glowing bits that glow the player's color. Like how in Command and Conquer 3 the Scrin units do. Maybe have more gray and less black too. Go more like GDI's color pallet with light grays for the GDF (Oh hey, another Command and Conquer influence) to better differentiate them from things like the terrain.

    3:34 Counter point, this game seems to be more styled after Command and Conquer and Crates in Command and Conquer acted like that but came in a wide variety from Money to Veterancy to even Healing.

    • @NakamuraRTS
      @NakamuraRTS  Год назад +2

      Variety for the crates is a good idea for sure, but that isn't a counter argument to the interaction being binary. First to touch it gets it - nothing you can do about it.

    • @kabob0077
      @kabob0077 Год назад

      @@NakamuraRTS The counter is that this game seems to be styled after Command and Conquer and the crates in it could very well act as such while the ones in Halo Wars were money (And in Halo Wars 2 were also power) only and having the units pick them up over time instead of instantly gaining money makes sense given that the crates serve the purpose of being stationary, one time use ways to gain money. The crates in Command and Conquer, and games styled after Command and Conquer, are more like Lootboxes, they could give you money, they could heal you, or they can give you Veterancy for your units, the crates also respawn randomly meaning they're more like the game randomly throwing a bonus into the match that rewards the player that can get to it first as opposed to being preset in Developer determined locations like the Resource Crates of Halo Wars.

  • @kabob0077

    14:38 It probably says it on the Tooltips in the construction menu. Also, the menus look like they're tiered, look at the "Defenses" tab and how there's that line that goes down to the "1" and then down to where you select what to build? I think that's done like that for a reason and we may also have some Supreme Commander or Total Annihilation influences as well.

  • @Carnagath82
    @Carnagath82 Год назад +2

    Looks promising. Don't like the resource crates either. The way they are implemented forces you to just split your starting soldiers into 5 control groups and just pick up as many of them as you can, and that's not how I want to start each and every match.

    • @Carnagath82
      @Carnagath82 Год назад +1

      Also insta capture engineers are a bad idea, they are always broken and Westwood realised that 20 years ago, no need to repeat the same mistakes.

    • @NakamuraRTS
      @NakamuraRTS  Год назад +1

      Very good point. This is exactly why Halo Wars 2 offered a very small starting unit count of 2-3 (except for YapYap).

    • @NakamuraRTS
      @NakamuraRTS  Год назад +1

      I agree that this also needs to be some kind of hacking process.

    • @Carnagath82
      @Carnagath82 Год назад

      @Nakamura RTS Even that's not ideal. Even if we start with 2 units, and the crates take like 10 seconds to pick up, it still restricts players from choosing a higher tech power spike build. Imho a mechanic like that only makes sense if you're trying to punish extreme turtling, but this doesn't look like the kind of RTS where you can turtle anyway, so I struggle to think of the positives.

    • @NakamuraRTS
      @NakamuraRTS  Год назад +1

      @@Carnagath82 I agree that overdone map control rewards can hurt tech builds, but it's really hard to say if it is overdone without having played a significant number of games.
      I do think it's important to reward map control a bit and encourage people to leave their base to make a more engaging game, but tech units also need to hit hard to allow them to hit back against map grab focused builds.
