Well if my guess on time falling is correct then they could have accelerated up to around 65mph but that’s ignoring wind resistance. With some rough maths and having to estimate a lot of things. The v90 could have achieved speeds of 47-55 mph on impact accounting for air resistance. It’s an extremely rough estimate considering how many conditions I had to estimate such as the air density and the total surface area of the vehicle etc. also have to consider the constant force of acceleration after impact from a drop so it’s much harsher than hitting a wall horizontally. So if it was at the high estimate of 55mph then that’s impressive considering it’s still wanting to accelerate at that point with all that mass.

It’s an extremely rough estimate considering how many conditions I had to estimate such as the air density and the total surface area of the vehicle etc. that is easily survivable hitting a car horizontally in a Volvo (someone I know did so in a 06 s80 with no issues afterwards. Not sure about hitting a wall at that speed though) Vertically you face the challenge of the person and car still accelerating on impact due to gravity rather than when horizontal that you have just inertia on impact like in most crash tests so I’m not sure. I’m not advanced enough to know past that.
There are five Volvos in my family. I just wish the Chinese had not got their hands on the company . I wish they were all made in FREE countries and profits not going to the Chinese.
Also made in Sweden, Belgium and a new factory coming in North Carolina USA. Just like Carlsberg is also made in the U.K. (still the same beer and the same car)
If you manage to die in a crash with a Volvo, then you have officially broken the law of physics.

I love every Volvo I've ever owned. The most brand loyalty I've ever felt for a car.
I have three XC90S and one V70 now and one BMW. Love my Volvos but I can’t seem to get the BMW to cooperate.

Everything simple - the older Volvo - the better 👌
No t necessarily, see the Top gear 760 vs Renalt Modus :(
I'd rather have a 760 than a new Volvo
Sadly for today standards , the old volvo is rip, in the past like in the 80's was a tank on the road
I believe Volvo died when it was sold to Ford.
Now we see Fords masquerading as Volvos but it takes more than an emblem to be a real Volvo.
