At 6:31, this was actually kind of real when it came to the Sears store in the North Riverside Park Mall. Back in December of 2017, my mom and I were shopping at the Sears store and they had the holiday blowout event, but at the same time, the first floor was looking empty as many parts of the store were temporally walled off, other clothing racks were clustered, and it was very messy in there. We actually thought that Sears was closing at the mall permanently due to what it seemed like. When we asked one of the employees, they told us they were going to remodel and downsize the store, yet because this fake liquidation event was going on and the store was downsizing, it felt surreal, I'll never forget how empty the first floor was.
Yup, still looks like our sears from the 80's..

That's the "musty" smell - the mold in the ceiling from the leaks... Thanks for recording this - since to have these documented before all the "Going out of business" signs go up... Sears Canada tried changing their stores/logo/look (Sears Canada 2.0) - it didn't work and Sears Canada closed all their stores, even some that had changed or were in the middle...
Greg Karris I am a wood worker and do know a bit about this buildings roof is bad and needs to re replaced and the roof now is falling and is leaking and is making it mold with the water it cold male this buildings stell rust and if water touches a wire that happens not to have a casting on by code you need it but is was worn off it wold start a fire and Destroy this store so thay will need to make those repairs or for it to cheaper thay can just close the store witch wold be ok with wood field being close and nice if thay had this issue at wood fell thay wold most likely fix it. Just a FYI I am 13 and I do know a lot about this kind of stuff
Nice video. This store looks in good condition compared to ones I have been to when I visited the US which seem much more messy and lacking customers but the upstairs looked to be the same as the others with stock lacking.

All the stores was original back then. JCPenney built in 1983 open until they close their doors on June 5 2011. Marshall Fields Company opened 1985 changed into Macy's in 2006 Macy's closed their doors in February 17 2019. Carson Pirie Scott open 1981 closed their
August 30 2018. Sears open their store 1981 close their door in February 2020. Kohl's open their department store 1994 only one store standing in the mall.
For some reason I thought Stratford was closer...
Stratford was the closest Kmart. There really is no fast route between Sears HQ and Stratford which is part of problem.

Our Sears is now an empty shell. With unsold fixtures being removed now. Its sad. Beautiful store, now dead.
CEO Lacy gave Lampert Sears in a gift box and this is the end result. Is this store still open? Suposedly 40+ Kmarts and 60+ Sears is all that is left. Interesting read at the layoff.com by Sears employees the end is near.

Sears isn't a retail store anymore, it's a real estate opportunity for Eddie Lambert. Everything will be closed, sold off or liquidated for scrap value. Sears built that mall too along with Woodfield. Now they have an owner that sanctions buckets catching water and empty shelves, this is how stereotypes are born.

I was here this past Saturday and it wasn't all that busy. I used the restroom upstairs and it was nasty. It smelled. This mall seems OK at best. I just wish parents could have better control of their kids. Hopefully, the new theater would help reinvigorate this mall. And why a vape shop in a mall? Not really attractive.
I am very familiar with this mall, the theater hasn't helped. It's not really popular among most locals including myself. The older theater from the 1950's has more comfortable seats and is significantly cheaper. That Vape shop has been there for a long time. Among many teenagers including myself, there is nothing here besides the Popcorn Shop next to Sears, Barnes and Noble, and H&M.
Using a Go Pro Camera I think. Those are nice cameras and keep your hands available.
Dude, you make some really awesome content - I have no idea why you don't have more subscribers. It's clear you put a ton of research into both this and your Bon Ton documentary.
That said, one suggestion I'd definitely make is to script your videos and/or rehearse what you're going to say more. Improvised content is really hard, especially if you're not on-scene when you're coming up with it.

I heard In another video at immigration love Sears i used to work with a woman from Africa who love Sears. I also work for Sears for a short time in Orland park IL back in 2015 its was crazy.
