This is a super cool video format. Knowing how to team build is such an underrated skill and a lot of low ranking players never really progress pass “just steal a team off RUclips” and never really figure out how to make a team that works by themselves.
I love this format. You learn so much! Btw I was predicting Charizard instead of Sandslash bc you were complaining so much about other grass pkmn ;) And it's also super effective vs the common Medicham and steel types.
Just went 22-3 with this team and I don't even have good IVs on my Tropius (8-11-13) but wow thanks for this video! It was cool to see your thought process of locking down a team slowly to meet your specific goal as well!
@@gabehernandez538 that's unlucky. If you can get Tropius onto a Water Ice it still does okay but if it's like Frosslass or something you just should top left.
I am running a version of this team with Jumpluff instead of Tropius (I don't have any) and Vigoroth instead of Alolaslash. I do have a really nice Shadow Alolaslash and I thought it would go perfect with this team. So it's nice to see someone else confirming that. I just gotta wait for the next Team Rocket event. With that said, Vigoroth works really well here too if you don't have a Sandslash. That Fighting coverage helps a lot with A Grass/Flying's crippling weakness to Ice. Informative video; I like it when top players explain the logic behind their choices. Helps the scrubs like me! :D
I think a much better grass type would be something like S. Venu. It has great moves, wins against mons like Regi (in the 1s and 2s) Medi, Lanturn, Swampert, Dewgong, Cress, Azu, Diggersby, Carbink and it just has a lot of play rn after Altaria and Noctowl got nerfed. I'm not sure why is no one using it
Lol, watched this before I went to sleep last night. First team I play this morning is exactly your final comp. As soon as I saw the Tropius, I laughed. Influencer for sure!
I had ampheros tropius with air slash and medicham and I was doing so good up till rank 10 then I switched to Alolan ninetails grenninja/polo wrath and lanturn now my best team for great league is gligar venasaur and lanturn.
I've been working on a jumpluff team so this is good timing. I am running Hydro Pump Azumarill, regular Steelix, and Jumpluff. I might try switching to Lanturn/A.Slash as you have. I enjoyed the exploratory style of this video.
Actually, the real reason Jonkus went for water gun over spark for the lanturn is bc of the hate he has for season 16 spark😂 just messing around tho, great battles!
Last season I used noctowl on the lead, spark luntern on the swap and swampert on the back and I got 15 win streak. This season i still havent played at all (didnt care at all to try lol) so mayby i will use this one, thanks
12:49 You are worng. I see 3 more good fire mons: shadow typhlosion, Magcargo and the new croc. I play double fire and are really amused how often you can win, althow there are so much lantern or swampert. funny aspect. Jumpluff / magcargo feels like a very good core.
Lanturn/Aslash core is so damn strong. Pick any good coverage for 3rd and it does wonderfully. I use toxicroak in the back personally instead of tropius, nd aslash in the lead, but i can see how tropius would actually be great for this
Steelix can't even remotely touch this team, loses both shields against aslash with no shields used on my end, gets absolutely demolished by toxicroak as well since most arent running psychic fangs anymore, and surf from lanturn is threatening as well. As for Swampert, I work around it very easily. Usually stay in with aslash, grab a shield or two, then catch a hydro on lanturn and farm down with the new damage from spark. The only mudbois my team is truly weak to is non shadow quag and whiscash. Neither are as prevalent in this season anymore, and i still manage to work around them. Just can't let them smell the fear or they double shield the mudboi LOL. Currently 70% win rate in this season and already close to rank 19@@Womp_Womp_Cry_abt_it
Might be something I could make a similar video of... I like the concept of trying top improve a tema based on weakness that get visible when playing it
@@JonkusPKMN Steelix may be a bit more of a sim hero because of the stacking debuffs, but would definitely like the series. Nice chance to see your thought process on team building around a certain mon My first shot with it is Jellicent/Greedent/Steelix. Basical ABB just using Greedent to coax the fighter (Medi) out, let Jelli farm it and then save shields for Steelix in the back. Scrafty an obvious issue, but not going to be able to cover everything perfectly.
Lol first set with this team I get sandslash alolan lead than frosslass lead, than walrien lead than powder snow a ninetales. Every single time I use a streamers team i get hard countered 100% of the time I’m not even joking. And no we’re not winning games with this team man
@@wuguxiandi9413 yeah that’s probably a good idea, I just stick to old meta and it works out for me. I want to try new. Teams tho sometimes, just unplayable

Guilty as charged xD

I like the idea of switching teams up throughout a video, hope to see more of it!
I really did like style of the video! This was neat to see your process a little bit. Great video Jonkus!
I’ve been running Jumpluff double fire (Shadow K-Ninetails and Salazzle) and it absolutely hardcounters a lot of meta rn.

Just satisfied for today’s sets, w/ super spammy cutepies 😍
Emolga - greedent - sirfetched

This team still slaps with jumpluff instead of tropius and non shadow A-slash for those that don't have either built, just went 13-2 with it!
Acrobatics or Aerial Ace?
And which fast move on Jumpluff? Fairy Wind?
@@alejandroxan acrobatics and fairy wind :) more charged move pressure and acrobatics is still a better move than aerial ace
Ive been running whiscash scrafty and lanturn and been winning most of my games
Martine is the answer in the last spot. Wing attack gets the grass, bubble beam instead of air ace
The best thing about these videoes is that i know what to expect 99% of the time. Build a counter to this team, and wipe the copycats.
why do you use water for lanturn as a fast move?is it better?

Running Shadow Sandslash, Medicham/Shadow Poliwrath and Mandibuzz
What could I use instead of tropius?
Pumpulf jumpluff
S.venusaur
Please showcase heliolisk, I shared few battles with you
Were those rare candy xl I saw?!
This is the team I ran on day 1 of this season. I went 21 and 4

Why not try? It's essentially free stardust and pokemon 😎
“The two shield flex” 😂
I had the same thoughts. Team I built yesterday was Serperior- Spark Lanturn - EQ shadow politoed
Is Tropius a regional?
Yeah but it's in raids sometimes
Yes😠

Triple weak to ground in a meta full of Swamperts and Steelixes isn't the best idea

Tropius loses from Galvantula leads as well. Loss, any shield scenario.
Also Abomasnow should give some troubles :3
Love spending 150k on building tropius just to go 7 rounds in a row where they have an ice lead and a counter user in the back
Das erklärt wieso ich einen 23/25 Run mit c A-Slash, Medi und Mandi hatte heut 😛
Medicham safe swaps seem to be worrying
How do you get a tropius i need one bruh😭
He either went to the country that it's in or Go Fest.
i did basically the same as your first team but just with serpiror instead of tropeus and a regsteel as a closer
Basically the same 😂 2 out of 3 different
Yes i see what you mean but serperior is pretty much a less bulky version og tropius running vine whip, frenzy plant and aerial ace
This team did nothing for me. Medicham lead with Alolan Sandslash in the back destroys this team.
The biggest weakness for this team is abamasnow
Day 44 of asking jonkus to pls rate all of the legend poses
You still doing this 😂
@@Pokemon_Trainer_Redlol such a weird request. Doesn’t even fit Jonkus’ vid style

Not for this one :(
Jumpluff
Currently have Acrobatics* on my Jumpluff, is AA better?
Abomasnow?
Tropius is a regional that's not easily accessible for everyone 😠
The Global Go Fest has them spawning last year.
