Hi and thanks for the video. When copying the ADMX and ADML files to the Central Store, is it ok to overwrite the ADMX and ADML files in there with the same name? Will it affect existing GPOs if I do this? Thanks!
Yes, it should be fine. It should not affect existing GPOs negatively. If you are in doubt, make a copy of existing files and save somewhere before copying the new ADMX and ADML files and overwriting so if you need to go back, you can.
When selecting the operating system, is this meant to target the OS of the domain controller that policies will be deployed from or the other computers that the group policies will be applied to? We currently have a mix of Windows 10 and Windows 11 workstations plus multiple Server OS versions in our environment. Our domain controllers are currently running Server 2016.
This is for the domain controllers itself. Not endpoints such as Windows 10 or 11 workstations. If you would like to deploy security baseline policies for endpoints, I suggest you deploy these via Intune
There is no harm in deploying though they may enforce certain restrictions that you may not like. These policies are intended for business/work computers but you may also benefit from it.
