Lal Chand Yamla Jatt
A legendary Punjabi folk singer, composer, and musician who was a pioneer in Punjabi music. He was born in 1914 in Lyallpur district of Pakistan and moved to Ludhiana, Punjab, India after the partition of India in 1947. He was known for his soft strumming of the tumbi and his turban tying style. He was awarded a Gold Medal by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1956 and a lifetime contribution award in 1989.
Yamla Jat (1940)
A Punjabi-language movie that was one of the first talking movies after the Silent Films Era ended in 1931. It was directed by Moti B. Gidwani and starred Noor Jehan, Ranjna, M. Ismail, and Ajmal. The movie is considered highly ranked among the initial talking movies.
