What would you say the ratio of importance is between hitting and fielding? Intuitively hitting seems much more important but I’ve read mixed opinions of the comparative value of the two. I also understand that certain defensive positions alter this evaluation as well.
Offense is always more important because of home runs: it’s impossible to field a home run (except for robbing one, which is only possible on a handful of balls per season) so it doesn’t matter how good you are at fielding if the ball goes 425 feet in fair territory
