- This lift connects floors -1, 1, 3 and 5 at the national museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. It is part of a set of 2 lifts although the other lift in the set is a more standard shape. Both lifts in this set feature generic fixtures. Unfortunately I am unaware of the exact name of the generic fixtures, logic and voice in this lift. If you know any of this information, post in the comments!
Despite the generic fixtures, this lift has always been one of my favourites! The unusual shape of this lift, being narrow yet wide, is something I have always remembered since visiting this museum as a child, long before I became interested in lifts! I was delighted to be reunited with this lift and to see that it was still as I remembered!
This lift is also glass which provides a great view of the museum!
1994 Mitsubishi Electric (Modernised by TKE) Lift @ Doha City Centre Shopping Mall in Marstonshire
These are Schindler Hydraulics that were new in 1998, and were modernised by Omega Lift Services in 2020.
Thanks for the information! Yeah I saw the article on the Omega website about this, interesting! Wish I knew about that when I uploaded this video.
The buttons and indicator are Lester Controls but the logic doesn’t sound like Lester Controls.
Yeah that's why I was confused because I didn't recognise the voice which meant I didn't realise they were lester controls.
this is a very interesting mod the fixtures and indicator's are Lester controls, the logic is most likely Lester aswell so I think it's a new voice
Thanks for the information! Yeah it was mainly the voice that confused me here because I have never heard it before and that made me confused if the buttons and logic would be lester but with a different voice. I can recognise the buttons and indicators now though so it is interesting that they have used this voice!
Great video. I think the fixtures are Lester controls buttons, Logic I believe is Lester also, not sure about the voice however, Sorry
Thanks! That is really useful information as I did really not know a lot about this lift so that is great to know, thanks!
it seems very slow for a lift that goes so high, still interesting though
Yeah it is a bit slow. it's a hydraulic. Originally Schindler hydraulic modernised with lester controls. It was always slow I think.
Long but not big at all
Yeah this lift is not really very large, it is just an unusual shape because it is wide but not very deep.
