Everyone here seems so healthy and I just want to be prepared so I don't have to give up chicken tenders or french fries in the event of a nuclear apocalypse.
Even though there's a flame, the maker of the press specifies that the oil will only heat up slightly (to about 40°C/104°F). This will cause more oil to be pressed out, while still qualifying as cold-pressed. If you have tropical temperatures, you don't need the flame.
Thank you for sharing this amazing thing! I always thought getting into making oils would be so expensive. I just bought a quality non-electric seed press just now after watching this video. I prefer old school tech over electronics when available so am super happy right now! I'm going to try to make some coriander oil among many pepper oils to start off with. Time to experiment! The gifts this year will be very fun.
This is a great tutorial; thanks for sharing! I purchased and automatic expeller press (I want to expel my own oils, hibiscus seeds in particular). This is a great start. 🙏🏽🥰
Store bought sunflower 🌻 oil is a lot better, healthier and a lot cheaper than what you are attempting as they have perfected the process of extracting oil from the sunflower seeds which are first hulled by removing the outer skin before cold pressing it. Modern mass producing processes makes items better and cheaper including including milk, butter, cheese, soap, eggs, oils, bread, etc.
In the country, good paying jobs are scarce and food deserts are common. The only people living a lifestyle like this are rich city folk pretending to get back to their roots by gentrifying poor rural neighborhoods. Its nor a country/city thing. It's a rich vs poor thing. She ain't healthy because shes rural. Shes healthy because she has money and resources only rich folk got.
I assume there's more than one way to skin a cat. This probably just cooks the oil out like fat in meat, instead of what probably takes more pressure to squeeze it out.
holy cow, now I can press anything into cooking oil. that's great info. Now how to press something into fuel for energy. Hope it won't take a few billion years to press that since we have all the technology and wealth of knowledge. Somebody should just come out and tell it to the world how to do it without getting scared by the oil and gas company.
That information is publicly available. It's just very hard to do, and requires more than you can likely do in your back yard when it comes to crude oil.
Thanks for sharing. I would recommend using a warm cloth against your pipe to heat it up as the heated paint, gives off odors which are dangerous to the air and to your product. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

Hmm will this work making essential oils from lavender, lemon peels, most anything??? Caution if thinking of using sunflower oil to cook or burn, as at higher cooking temps, it produces aldehydes, a known cancer risk agent. It is recommended for “lower temperature cooking,” whatever that is.

Be careful, when it comes to basic machines like this almost all of them are Chinese junk that is re-packaged / re-branded and sometimes even re-painted or re-finished to look different when they're all the same junky Chinese tier nonsense that breaks after two uses. They're often repackaged and claimed to be from different countries then given absurd prices in the $50-250 price range when they're all clones of the same machine that cost about $1-2 to produce and sells for $5-15 all day long on (I can't type it without getting flagged for spam, ALI baba and the forty thieves plus the word EXPRESS) - this drop ship price gauging is how Chinese megacorps rip off westerners. At this point, for example, Chinese knock off ear protection with in built mic were $27 until a year ago, now they sell for $250. 3M Peltiers that the military use, $300. They will gradually increase the price as long as silly round eye will buy it.
Just double checked, I was right. It's the same design / type that has been floating about the last ten years. Except they gave it a coat of paint and stencilled 'PITEBA' onto it. The welds have somehow gotten WORSE since the last time I checked with the top hopper point and heat mount point being tack welded. Also that heating element is stupid. That wick is absurd. That's not going to be effective. Just use a candle.
That oil looks dark and murky. How do you clarify the oil? Do you even need to do that at all? You really need a lot of material. Approximately how much say sunflower seed would you need to make a quart of oil?

Actually you mean less viscous or thinner. The hotter the oil the thinner and the easier it flows. However the minimum temperature that you can get by should be used as elevated temperature could destroy some of the vitamin E in the oil.
Everyone here seems so healthy and I just want to be prepared so I don't have to give up chicken tenders or french fries in the event of a nuclear apocalypse.

The highest temperature allowed for “cold pressed” oils is 120•F.

Since I developed a soy allergy this appears to be my only option for cooking oil given that so many cooking oils have soy even if they claim not to.
wow she just managed too make and cook the oil at the same time, all that heat LMAO.
also it appears the wick is to large causing more flame then needed and way too much soot

I always thought you were supposed to keep the oil cold. Oil and fire is a bad idea, plus the heat messes with the taste I’ve heard
It doesn’t get hot enough to kill the nutrients if you do it right. That’s why it’s still cold press.
