I have an appointment this coming Tuesday for a wheelchair fitting for my 13.5 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. I'm looking forward to going on our walks again :D
Sorry this response is so late!! How was the appointment? I think a fitting is a great idea! We took Sue's measurements, ordered online, and crossed our fingers. Fortunately, it worked out well for us, but we did run the risk of it not fitting. Did your sweet baby take to it easily? It is so wonderful not to have to leave your walking buddy at home!! ❤

Dog will love it , he’s a 16 year old Shar Pei American Boxer mix . And I’m not ready to give up on him yet
I had one of those for my last dog, and gave him a new lease of life .he had delayed movement in his back leg and was scraping his paws when he walked on concrete 😢.
So I brought the dog mobility chair off Ebay and adjusted it to fit my dog😮.
When he realized he could get around again he just wanted to go walks,but he got tired quickly so I only took him a short distance at first and gradually extended it 😊

So, BASICALLY, first of all, good initiative, it was an informative vid . Thank you. But, i recommend tht you need to cover the metal frame and the nylon straps with some wool, or soft cushion to avoid skin burn, which is a discomfort to the animal during movement. o7

Whoever came up with this idea is a genius!! When we tried to walk him before the wheelchair, he would limp around afterward (even short walks). He was in obvious pain. We always had to give him doggie aspirin to help him feel better. It broke our hearts to see him in pain, so we just stopped taking him. We have watched closely after his wheelchair walks, and he is 100% fine!! Praise the Lord!! ❤ Thanks so much for watching!!

This has been such a blessing! It is wonderful to come home from a nice walk and see that he is not limping or in pain! We had stopped taking him because we knew he was hurting. I know he was missing the walks! Thanks for watching!!
Regarding the axel bolts becoming loose: on each side of the wheelchair there is a set screw that holds the axel bolt in place. You probably did not tighten them after installing the wheels.

Is it possible for him to lay down? I'm worried my girl might try that when she's had enough walking and dont want her to get hurt. Thanks again for sharing this, so helpful.
I just got one for $25! Brand new! My dog has arthritis and today his back legs just gave out on a short walk, so I posted it on the next door app that I was looking to buy one used, in my area. Boom! Within 10min I got a response.

Aww!! We have been talking about adding a kitten to our family. We haven't ever had cats before, so we don't know if we'll be good cat parents. The kitten would probably grow up thinking it's a dog! Lol

Hi great video. Just ordered one. Can you please clarity a couple of things....
(1) The furthest back strap of the rear harness pair, appeared to fall around the dogs rear/tail and not support anything. Can you please explain?
(2) If the wheel bolt works loose, why can't you tighten up the allen screw that locks up the wheel bolt?

We just got one for our lab (also a black lab, they look similar!) and only the one wheel falls off! Every walk it loosens and we have to tighten it. Not sure what to do about that.
We are looking at one but have a question. Our Mastiff is a female. How can they pee and have bowl moments?
Bought one of these for my 14 year old girl Akita ( not American ). There are two harness, a sports harness, basically 2 D rings that the legs go through that allow the dog to pee. The other one is a comfort harness for dogs that may need more support but it does not allow the dog to pee freely. The pee collects in the harness, not good. Also the wheel bolts are useless and quite dangerous as they don’t tighten and the wheels could come off. I didn’t pay top price for this and there is a ‘nuts and bolt’ company near me and he is going to put a longer bolt in with a locking nut. However, l am in the UK and the thread size is different so he will have to re tap it for me. It takes a lot of time to adjust the harnesses and is a two person job and could be a bit stressful for the dog. I put mine in it for the first time yesterday, she did walk a for a few minutes but was a bit more reluctant today as l had to do more adjustments and l think she was tired. I won’t bother tomorrow because l am having the bolt fitted.
Think carefully before buying this item and if you can afford it l would suggest looking at one of the more expensive ones.

I am curious, how do es your dog go to the bathroom? I am thinking of getting one for my 14 1/2 standard poodle.
How is your dog doing? I have a dog with hip dysplasia, she can't even get up. I wanted to get one, but I am afraid it won't work for her. My doggie is 12 and I can't find a surgeon that wants to do surgery on her. My doggie has 3 breeds mixed so her body shape is weird, short legs and the body of a Labrador. I don't know what to do. It is so hard to drag her outside so she can do her business.

Hi, looking to buy one and have a question. How much support does it really give to the back end? Looks like he's still having to use his back legs quite a bit.
Ours came with two different harnesses. We use the one for dogs who have a large amount of mobility but just need a little support. The other one is for dogs who need more support. It also came with stirrups that hold the dogs legs completely off the ground if the dog can't use his legs at all. It is working well for Sue right now, but we have the other options if he needs them down the road. I'm so happy to see that he is not sore or limping after walks. I hope this helps!
