Pike Fishing in a Small River. Big Pike on Miuras Mouse lure.

- Pike fishing Ireland 🐊🎣 is one of my favourite types of fishing during the cold winter months. This was my pike fishing season 20/21 kick-off session. As the day was unseasonably warm I decided to fish actively - lures fishing and fly fishing for pike in search of some big fish. This type of angling is my favourite fishing style - big pike fishing with lures.
One thing I am trying to show in the video is that you need to keep trying, changing fishing spots, and altering your fishing methods. The day has started very slow and until about lunchtime, I had absolutely nothing to show for my efforts. Not even a single take from a pike, neither on lures nor on the fly.
I change the plan I made in the morning and kept searching for some feeding fish. I had the new (to me) Miuras Mouse lure from Strike Pro, and let me tell you, when I found some feeding fish, and started fishing using the Miuras Mouse I managed to find some pike, including an absolute beast of a wild, river pike, measuring 110cm and weighing over 20lbs 🐊🐊 The colour of Miuras Mouse - Spotted Bullhead.
So keep casting, keep changing your fishing methods, until you catch that big fish :)

Thanks for stopping by! Gear info in the description, hope it helps 👍 if you like it, you'll enjoy my float tube video, where I get a couple of 1m+ fish 🐊🎣ruclips.net/video/SmS5jKjdDQw/видео.html Enjoy 😊😊
The farmer has locked 🔒 the gate and ran everybody because certain selfish stupid ignorant uncaring people are littering, defecating on the bank, chopping the heads off fish barbecuing them, lighting fires and leaving alcohol bottles and cans everywhere, not to mention the discarded tents! Golden rules for the land owner return all fish alive and leave no trace, close over and lock the latch on his gate, take your rubbish home. Excellent video from the beautiful peaceful majestic River! Superb Angling! Well done! Catch and Release! 🤗 Looks like they love that Italian Miuras Mouse!
Thank you sir. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I know the story, unfortunately it's all too common around here, another one bites the dust. On this occasion I believe it was because of non-anglers partying and leaving the place in an absolute mess of a state. The farmer would be mad not to close it off...
Great video and great fish🎣 keep up the good work👍🏼🇮🇪
Thanks Jake !! We're blessed to have some fine pike fishing here
Looks like a river I fish in the midlands... great fishing!
Thanks Lar!!
@@MarcinKantor what fly set up are you using if you don’t mind me asking
It's Scierra Salis #9 9ft rod, Scierra Traxion reel size 9-11, Airflo 40+ Sniper Intermediate line. Will double up as bass outfit
Any tips on where to go Pike fishing in the Midlands? Roughly obviously not to give away the exact spot!
@@markryan9975 anywhere really Mark, they're very popular fish. Pretty much every river or lake in the Midlands will have them. It's more the time than place that you need. I fished the river for a few years before I got a 20 out of it. If it's lures tho, I'd wait till it gets a tad warmer again
Piekna ryba 👍🎣👏
Dzięki Marcin 🙏🙏

Lovely Fish Marcin. Well done.
thanks Buddy, hope we'll get a few more this winter
@@MarcinKantor I hope we will be allowed to fish this winter hahah
@@IrishAnglingAdventures ah stop mate, it's getting a bit less funny at this stage 🛑🚫⛔✋
@@MarcinKantor After seeing the new restrictions today looks like its going to get hard for me to get fishing now.
@@IrishAnglingAdventures many in the same boat mate. Hopefully you'll manage a way, at that rate the pike season might be finished already 😢
Savage pike on a lure. Magic fight. One fish can turn a day around in an instant. 👍 Brillant also nice to see a fellow portaboter. I have a older gen 3 14ft.still going after 15 years Just rekitted out and waiting for this lockdown to end to get it wet again. 😁
that's really cool David. Those 14ft look long and heavy, fair play to you. Mine takes a bit of setting up etc, yours must be that bit harder to manage... Yes, one good fish and the day is transformed completely, and the grin stays for ages lol
@@MarcinKantoryeah originally got it as was always st least 2 of us fishing so wasnt oo bad on set up.. But I do wish I'd gone for the 10ft as it would be even more portable. As it's older now I keep it set up on a trailer so very little set up time just adding motor rods and rest etc. That keeps it light enough to slide it across fields or move on wheels. Quite light to handle. Been looking at that savage gear belly boat you have and seriously considering one. Looks excellent.
@@davidgoff2204 it's a very good float tube sir. A bit on the heavy side but very stable and comfy. Well recommended 👍👍
@@MarcinKantor cheers for the recommendation. Always good to get an idea what something is like from someone who's used it a decent bit better a little heavy and solidly built. Sinking isn't the greatest 😅 especially with fishing gear being lost 🤣oh and drowning 😁 I've added it to my fishing gear list and its a long list. 😃 Saw your perch spain video and that been added too. Brilliant 👍👍
@@davidgoff2204 thanks again David, appreciate the support mate
Nice ☺️👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Hehe, brawo. Znam tą rzekę jak własną kieszeń. Poświęciłem je pełne 2 lata. Oczywiście czasem wracam w swoje ulubione miejsca. 👍
I oczywiście Sub. A skąd wiem o jaką rzekę chodzi?... Inland Fishing Ireland - raport 😉
@@pawelr.6257 Dzięki. Chyba nie było nazwy rzeki podanej???
@@MarcinKantor Nie, nie było w tym głównym "źródle" Ale znam tych co się zajmują tymi stronami 😉

Great fishing Marcin 🎣 what a beast! 👌
Thanks Naoise, always good to get a bigun, especially on a slow day
@@MarcinKantor more to come I'm sure 👍 deadbaiting has been slow for this time of year but lures seem to be doing the business..
@@naoisedrewett5361 nice one, you getting a few yourself then. Any good ones?
@@MarcinKantor just a few jacks but nothing major.. travel restrictions are not helping now.. hoping the next few sessions go to plan 😅🙌
@@naoisedrewett5361 hope they got the script 😉
siemano,no to ogladamy....pozdro
Mam nadzieję, że się podoba. Dzięki 👍
Nice video..enjoyed that, well worth a subscribe 👍 quick question, I just bought the miuras mouse yesterday, same one as yours, what way do you set up your mainline..any weights needed? Or is the trace just connected to it?
Weights are not needed in water 4m or less. If its deeper I like to put a 5gr or 15gr sinker but other than that the lure just clips on at the end of your trace
@@MarcinKantor thanks pal..looking forward to a 4 nighter on the shannon..fingers crossed I get a nice double like yours. 😄
Great Channel, fly fishing for Pike is the best.. We captured a couple over 25 on the Fly not made that film yet but will in time
Thank you sir. I am absolutely loving it, been at it for a few months now, got some better ones but a 25 is a smashing fish in the fly. Very well done. Dreaming of my fly 20
@@MarcinKantor have a look on my channel my 1st fly caught 20 on there. I love tying my flys now... Going to try for Bass on the fly next year we have a boat near Brighton in Sussex
@@TheBassRacer just watched it there, super fun it looks, love it! Best of luck on the bass, tried it myself, but inky once late last season. Will give it more time too 👍👍
Witam, super filmy. Mam pytanie, czemu używasz takiej mocnej plecionki? Czy chodzi o moc w racie zaczepu aby nie zerwać drogiej przynęty? Pozdrawiam
Dzięki Tomasz. To standard przy ciężkich przynetach. Wędki do 200gr i cięższe. Duże przeciążenia, nie chcemy trącić przynęt a już naoweno nie ryby z przynęta na plecionce nadwyrezonej. Grubość nie wpływa wcale na ilość brań, więc nie ma powody żeby łowić na lekko przy takich przynetach
Irish crocodile. 😁
Haha proper Croc 🐊🐊😉
"This little jack" 😄
😉
i love watching your videos marcin may i ask what part of the country do you normally fish in rivers like this
thanks, I honestly fish across the country. North and midlands have plenty of great pike water
Given that there are more "spectators" than people in Ireland... yes, you will often have them lookin on at the crazy 2-legger in the water... 🙄😂
Just as long as there are no spectators with young "children"... you might get chased out of a field !! Don't ask me how I know this... 😮
🤣🤣🤣 I'm not gonna ask then
@@MarcinKantor 😎👍☘🍺
Nice Pike you got there. That last one was a beauty. Keep it up Marcin!
Thanks for the good words, some more videos in the making 😊
@@MarcinKantor Nice
Hi Marcin. Excellent videos. Have a question
I don't have a boat or float tube, but I really like pike fishing. Do you know easy access lake go around it and fish or river access what you could share with me? I don't like to ask it. A disadvantage without a boat is massive. Thanks
thank you! Not that I know of, as I hate fishing easy spots myself, however, I'd say try one of the bigger rivers like shannon, suck, barrow. With a bit of googling you will find places to walk along. I would say also, the further away you get from easily accessible water (doesn't have to be boat) the better
@@MarcinKantor Thank you
What is the rod an reel your using thanks?
Check the description of the video Ivan
Wow!!! a very big one and a good fight, we have a porta bote also and i like pikefishing also in the Netherlands ( watch my video's )
Hope to see more monsterpikes.
Thank you 🙏 I see you're getting some nice pike there, well done.
@@MarcinKantor Thanks 🥰🍀⚘
Anyone know the name of the river?🙌🔥
I do 🙃
You getting a new boat Marcin ?
Hi Bill, yeap, should be getting it in a few weeks. An aluminium boat from Tangiri Boats
