So with the 3rd plug (3 paired wires for cans) how to I know which wires are the trim wires, you didn't mention that? Yes I see the plug at the very end of the harness and I've attached it and works as should. In my case I'm wanting to add an additional trim switch in the middle of the harness and just as you've shown that harness no longer has the green/white stripe or blue/white stripe....please help...thx
If it's DTS you don't have trim wires on the 14-pin harness. If you want to add a 3rd trim switch somewhere, you'll need to add jumpers, best way to do that is find an adapter for the helm to split the trim wires out to 2 different locations and run extension harnesses, or cut the wires and add a junction block that you can run wires from to where ever you want the switch.
Im interested in this. I have an old deluth 1979 bass boat in good shape and a mercury black max 2 stroke 150. i want to update the throttle controls but don't know how to tie it into the old harness. I haven't even found the the harness plug yet.
I have a 1992 Mercury Black Max 150. My mechanic deleted my oil injected system and the lectronics. I still have the alarm for the overheat but I no longer have the alarm when the key is turned. I have no idea where to turn to hook up another alarm beacon for the key when its turned. Is there any one out here to help me add a second alarm? i'm thinking Purple and Black but I would love confirmation or direction. Thank you.
Idk about if you can do it like that, the tan/blue stripe is the warning horn, but it doesn't really get power from the purple wire, it gets power from the engine, or well connects to the ground whenever it is triggered to sound. You'll have to do some investigation on what wire from the Black Max is supposed to send the warning horn power when it has an issue.
@@BornAgainBoating Thank you sir. I know that the overheat wiring is still connected and will sound an alarm, its just that turning of the key that has me baffled since the electronics were removed. I'll contine to dig around.
Clean power goes straight to the battery with no switch to it and is fused to provide constant clean battery power to the system computers :) and nothing else
wow! they took something simple and for no reason just made it hard by changing colors for no reason other then they can! anyways can you help me figure out my wiring harness prob. I have a 1999 fisher 25 ft pontoon with a diff, newer model engine a 2004, 3.0 mercruiser stern drive with what looks like a 9 pin harness, lot of the engine compartment harness has been cut and cobbled and somewhat diff color wires attached. can you help me find the exact shop manual for my motor, PDF. the block number is 1M12054RP and i think it is OLO97000 THRU OW301999, Eng ser number is OW 001-466.. they are 8 pins in the male plug but 9 holes one looks missing, Blu, Red, Grey, Black, Brown/white stripe, Tan/Red stripe, tan and purple but i counted around 20 wires running up to dash board. side not the female connector on harness has light blue wire and male has darker blue wire other then that all the same? I hope you can steer me in right direction. Thank you for your time.
Great video and important information. Do you know where can I get new connectors to re-run the wiring on my old boat to my motor. I have a 1985 Mercury 50hp.
Try here, on the left you'll see the different pins and what not: www.boats.net/catalog/mercury/rigging-parts-accessories/electrical/harness-repair/10-pin-connectors
I just want to know what wire is for my trim sensor on a Mercury 90hp optimax? Please

Can you put up a pin out diagram for the latest 14pin harness (the one with the three CAN systems.
will this be the same for force by mercury, hard to find anything for force alot of what i search just goes back to mercury, thanks.
I can't tell you 100% but I believe so yes
Im.working on a 06 75hp opti. Converting from remote to a tiller. Not getting power to fuel pump. Any ideas?
I'd look for a blown fuse or the key switch not telling the engine that it's in the on position

You have to buy the harness it's just a single Mercury harness :)
The pink wire, if bad would that make fuel pump drop PSI?
Great video! Very well explained. Thanks for sharing.

where can i find that color list ? 98 merc 200
You can find them on google easily
So what’s the difference between “clean power” red and black, and “battery power” solid red.
Clean power goes straight to the battery with no switch to it and is fused to provide constant clean battery power to the system computers :) and nothing else
Another amazing video can you please do a honda

Try these part numbers, got no idea when it comes to that kind of issue, you gotta just trace the wires :/
