I don't usually comment on videos, but thank you so much for translating this game into English. I really didn't want to read a summary and wanted to experience the game as close to real time as possible, and without this it wouldn't be possible. Thank you for all your hard work!
Having the text is the easy part. Programming the text into the game is where it gets hard. It's not as simple as copy+pasting english text over the japanese text. So, even if SEGA had all the text in english from the start it would still take time and money to put it into the game correctly.
so it can't be done in such a way that you displayed here like copy a second layer over it and play it like this on the ps3 ? i have an english patch now with my custom firmware but it has some stuff english translated even images so it should not be that hard in my sense ? but then again i don't know how to do it. how did you do this english version ten that you are palying ?

I will forever be disappointed in sega for not giving us this game. In my personal opinion the setting and time period would have easily made this my favorite yakuza game...
Thankfully they made Ishin, Gaiden and Ryu Ga Gotoku 8 are coming and maybe this too one day..! Finally they understood in order to survive they too must maximize monetary gain…And rhat ist ONLY possible by making games available to the laegest audience(s) of ppl speaking sind ne language…
I only keep the fights that require a walkthrough. For example, the tutorial fights or fighting sections where you have to get from point A to point B. This is not a "Let's Play" video; this is a step-by-step walkthrough of the main story of the game, so there is no need to waste the viewers' time with every single fight in the game.
Thanks for doing this man. I will go through and watch all of these one day, or maybe playthrough with them. Ideally, we would get a remake of this, but I mean it's been 10 years and most fans have given up hope :/.
No problem! Glad you like them :) That's strange, I was sure I put a note explaining what a Kakemawari is in the video description (just added one now). Here's a brief description: Like a "jack-of-all-trades" job. A kakemawari undertakes a variety of jobs for the right price, such as payment/debt collection (like Kiryu does in the story). Basically, it's a "do anything for the right price" job.

Is it just me or that mistress at 4:46 look just like Otose from Gintama? And how Kiryu work in this game is also what Yorozuya does in Gintama, both undertake a variety of jobs.

Thanks, glad you found the guide useful! Funny you ask about Kenzan, because I am in the planning stages of doing a guide for Kenzan with the same attention to detail as my Ishin guide. I'm working on relaunching my site (hopefully by the end of this year) and with that will come the start of the Kenzan guide. I am also going to re-translate the whole story and upload new videos to my channel - I'll also be including the substories in my video walkthrough as well (also fully translated). It'll be a big project, but that is my main focus next.

Interesting this one does a better job showing how the Yakuza are kind of a police force than the other games (yes I know they are called something else here) and the saving bit was funny...also I wish there was commentary I didn't know how much I missed it until I saw a video without it. And wow...this is a different Kiyru...I mean he is a bit of a dick here..
I was NOT expecting to see young girls getting lured into working at a brothel, not just in general, but in one of the first cutscenes. I'm not privy into what that era was entirely like (mainly just the war aspect from Shogun 2/Samurai warriors 2 empires/), was that a thing they did?
I have no idea. I think the new version (creative cloud) is compatible with windows 8, but I don't use windows 8 so I don't know. You'll have to take a look at the official site.
I so wish they at least put English subs on released it again pref on PS4 … I bought the Chinese version that only has Japanese and Chinese from Play Asia on release... did the same with the first dead souls on ps3 it had a cardboard box with a guide in it... at least in English...

@areyouserious83 I've done all the main story cutscenes from the game and am currently working towards doing the rest of the story (bits between cutscenes).
Not sure what kind of tips you're looking for, but I'd say cut out the random encounter fights in the video since people who just want to know what to do won't want to see that, make it easy it follow and don't keep stopping to save (interrupting the gameplay), also don't take any detours - this is both timewasting for viewers and can be confusing when people just need to know what to do - just get straight to where you need to go. @JukaDominator Ah, not the dreaded challenge mode! =P I haven't done the Kenzan challenges yet so I can't help you with that I'm afraid =( I just looked at an online Japanese guide for the game and it says you should hold R1 and use the 4x Square combo with 2 swords (do not use Triangle), apparently you also have to move the analogue gently to the left and hold down R1 while using that square combo. I had a good look around for any videos of that challenge but couldn't find any =(
I really wish that thay would just make this game in english for us I found a picture of a samurai in yakuza 6 I have no clue who he is cose it's a past character that died in the series
I wish there were more games like these. Like a Street Fighter RPG - okay maybe not a ST game, but with that kind of deep combat. Mortal Kombat X is interesting. And Tekken kinda tried it. I guess what I want is a bigger version of this. GTA with SF/Tekken combat system. It's what made Sleeping Dogs better (in my opinion).

Well, I can definitely say the modding community IS trying to do that right now. Currently, we've got a mod that translates everything using Google Translate, but recently there's been a bit of progress into localizing the game using the translations here.
Started getting into yakuza with yakuza 0 and now I really wanna play Kenzen but sadly it's not English. These videos will help me go through the game one bit at a time. I really wish Japanese publishers would just give the west a English translation of everything they make without hesitation. If anything proves how much more successful they could be that way just look at phantom dust.

I doubt it, since I've never played those games before (or even heard of them!) I'd rather stick to game I'm familiar with and games that never got released outside Japan.
Positive Voice SEGA only talked about the main games, the numbered ones, so not Kenzan or even a release of Ishin. Everything is possible but I doubt it; they think they're too japanese for us :(

Back when I got it, I think it cost about £30 ($45). These days you can get it for £16 ($24) from a site called "yesasia".

No, mainly because that rumor doesn't exist; SEGA said they are considering PS4 remakes for Yakuza 2, 3, 4 and 5, not the spin-offs.
