    You can press any of the face buttons to pass the "touch the screen to continue". Also the DS Lite has a function to autoboot GBA carts if one is present at boot.

    I had a GBA cart that didn't work. I finally opened it up and ran an eraser along the contacts and now it works great after years of it sitting there broken. The hardest part was getting a triwing screwdriver.

    This is why I always look at what else a seller has for sale. A lot of times, they are people who hit thrift stores and estate sales and just buy everything cheap and have no idea how these things work. I got a DS lite listed as not working/parts and apparently the battery just needed charging. Works great, screens are in great shape (never took off the plastic from the screens) and plays DS and GBA just fine.

    Nice bro, yesterday i stopped by a pawn shop and seen a Nintendo DS Lite for $24 "as is". And the lady told me it wont power up. I said i will give you half that price for it. So i bought it for $12.
    Took it home and messed with it for a few seconds. It powered on without taking it apart. I think she was trying to turn it on with the volume lol. However, it doesnt read any DS game. I dont have a Advance game to try on the other side. May go find one to try on that end today. Im halfway there since it powers up and charges. So now some cleaning to see if it will read.
    If not, its disassembly time.

    This reminds me of this time I wanted Mario Advance 1, so what I did was I wrote "Super Mario Advance, SMB2" on it with crayon hoping it worked, it did'int. I used one of those dummy GBA carts that came with the DS Lite consoles as I never had a Gameboy Advance until two years ago. Also in my experience the DS Lite tends to be finicky with reading GBA Carts, I'd use something like a GBA, or a Gameboy Player if you can.

  • @DarthDestiny07
    @DarthDestiny07 4 года назад +1

    This reminds me of one GBA game I purchased off eBay (that was a legit copy, I must add) that wouldn't read, or have that staticy Nintendo symbol (or solid). Decided I could just take my 90% rubbing alcohol to the contacts and bam! works like a charm. Clean contacts are so nice.

    Some of them may have a faulty saving function as this could be a really common fault of this kind of cartages. Some of them may use a battery to save data and as the battery dies, it loses the ability of saving, others may use a battery to run a clock and that can also be faulty.

    The sad thing is that there's no real point for the seller to try and clean the carts. I don't think any of these except for MAYBE Mega Man Battle Network 5 (as this series went on, production for the games was dwindling, I guess due to reclining sales, so copies of the later games are harder to find) were worth much (would love to be proven wrong, despite growing up in the GBA generation I've little idea on what the big non-first party games were) and had to be included as part of a lot. If they just needed to get rid of the carts for space or whatever, they did it the best way, brand it all defective and sell it to people like you who do repair work.

    I picked up a crash bandicoot gba game from a local secondhand game store and at first it wouldn't show up on my ds but then i tried inserting it and taking it out rapidly, similar to what people did with snes games, and then it said there is a ds option pack inserted, to which i knew that there was residue on the traces, and sure enough, more of the inserting and removing made it work.

  • @KISSbestfan
    @KISSbestfan 5 лет назад

    I still have my Gameboy Advance somewhere, and some games. One thing I can say is that The Sims is a great game. Its nothing like the PC version, where you endlessly manage the life of your sim. I also loved the sequel called The Urbz. Sims 2 werent that good, and Sims 2 Pets was a huge mistake.
    What else can I say about the games. Harry Potter is a good title as for the early GBA games (btw this one you have its an Euro version). Pacman and Tetris you know the drill about them. I also see you got doubled TMNT, Im not sure if those games differ, but both of these are probably beatem ups. Cars is another movie based game, and I think it had pretty cool graphics, as for a GBA game. Dogz is basically a game for girls, where you take care of the pet. Megaman 5 is another Megaman game, so quite cool. The rest I have no idea.
    Unfortunately Im not sure how those games are priced, only from what I know Pokemon and Zelda games are pricy. Same goes with GBC, some games like Shantae are ridiculously expensive, while others arent worth that much. I think Megaman would be the best one from the collection in terms of value.

      Try what i did here to all the chips. Also inspect for missing capacitors or resistors. Sounds like there could be an issue writing save files to the flash memory. Most carts with batteries don't even use the battery for saving (ie. Pokemon), it's for an internal clock.
