I've had the pleasure of kayaking with dolphins, playful but their size and intelligence are really unnerving. I would be pooping myself in that guys position, but what an amazing place to be! Imagine saying 'that's my job'! That is incredible.
All whales and dolphins are some of the most sacred beings to ever evist on our planet. It is the duty of us as humans to treat them with the highest kindness, compassion and respect.
That would be so exhilarating to be in the water capturing this dance that the orcas do to feed them all. Mind you, it’d also a bit intimidating when you see that huge male orca! 😳❤️
What great footage! It's amazing the gracefulness of these mammals. So majestic! How close do you really want to be to the herring as tons and tons of whales are ready to feed?
These are not the same as the orcas hunting whales. For instance the local orcas outside B. C. only eat salmon. The orcas that hunt whales are different pods in fact almost a different species and in Canada they call them transients.
I don't understand what the orcas gain from this interaction with the whale. The humpback seems to get a nicely formed bait ball it can swallow up, but if the orcas are eating the herring too why wouldn't they just keep it for themselves? Does the humpback's presense benefit the orcas somehow?
Could be for a few reasons… First of all, orcas have unique cultures for different families and this pod seems to specialize in fish. They don’t hunt or harm other mammals. And knowledge is passed down from many generations, orcas don’t really operate on instinct like the other animals do. Basically, historically, there was plenty of food around and so there was no need to fight over it (taught by the pod’s matriarch) Animals also just don’t like to take risks. Humpbacks are extremely powerful and no adult has ever been brought down by orcas. These orcas in particular also flee from much smaller pilot whales that are like a 5th of their size so…
You should talk to Robin Baird. He filmed the killer whale beaching itself and eating a seal for national geographic. According to my conversation you do not want to die alone because they stun with sound and if you're within arm's length you will be knocked unconscious. Hey Dove almost every day for 2 years n got that seen for national geographic.
In the dark under water, at low visibility, a gadget with a diver shows more clearly what were there. Echolocation or sensing vibration, a magnet field, water pressure fluctuation or smell, how do they spot their precious meal?
That's because these Orca are much different from the subspecies or types (transient orca) which feed on larger prey like large marine mammals & sharks. These Orca only eat fish or coastal prey like rays, other fish, or unique prey a specific Pod passes knowledge of to hunt like urchin, beaching for seals, or crabs, etc. That are known as residential or coastal Orca types. There's currently a big movement in the science community on if these are different species altogether between transient & residential orca.
God created the seas and oceans with an unparalleled grandeur and beauty, covering a large portion of the Earth's surface and serving as a vast source of life and biodiversity. The seas and oceans exemplify God's immense power and profound wisdom in maintaining environmental balance and the continuity of life. In the Holy Quran, Allah says: - "And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and He subjected it that you may seek of His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful" (Surah An-Nahl: 14). - "And He subjected for you the sea to sail upon by His command and that you may seek of His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful" (Surah Al-Jathiyah: 12). In the authentic Hadiths: - The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the believers in their
This is the first time that I've heard about Orcas and Humpbacks working together to feed. Fascinating.
Feeding together 😂
This was my first thought as well
00:02:38 That one fish escapes from whale mouth and swim towards the camera, *you are a fighter, mate*
Probably straight into an Orca's mouth, his cover is blown
@@tomholroyd7519 That herring decided to become a cameraman.

Oh he always survives 😂
as long as I can remember, nature has always fascinated me with its beauty

Beautifully filmed

If those are sacred, then what isn't sacred? Doesn't make any sense.
@@twonumber22the only thing that doesn't make sense is your question. 😂 Do you seriously want examples of things that aren't sacred?
@@Heyheyrayeraye No. It's just stupid to call any particular animal sacred.
@@Heyheyrayeraye But that is what religion does. It makes people believe and say things that do not make sense.

Today I learnt the difference between a shoal of fish and a school of fish, thank you BBC!

One of the very few places where Orcas & Humpbacks don’t hate each other’s guts.

we got to protect these relatives of us, who are, as a book title once rightfully said, "the spirit in the deep".

Bravo.....😻
Best show on the planet 🎉
I think this narrator will wear Sir David Attenborough's shoes in the future.
The ocean is dangerous
Swimming with feeding orcas….!!!!! 😳😳😳
I wonder if they could eat more when the background music played in the scene.
Sehr schön Gruss Jürgen 🤠

so there a are at least 3 cameras operating for this doc; on the boat, on the drone and one in the water with the diver

Mighty neighborly of the orcas to feed the humpback whales the majority of the bounty. That seems atypical of their usual behavior.

Plot twist: the orcas return to eat the whale’s tongue
Wrong type of Orca! :D
Fish-eating orcas don't eat mammals and vice versa.
I could do without the over-the-top dramatic music
