These days I don’t get THAT much time to play bigger games since I’m in my final years of college and job hunting, but when I get the chance to do my own thing more, I definitely want to try it out! In regards to Pollock, I’m still so glad you pointed this out, here and in the original video, mainly since I was the same way. I had rose tinted goggles about Mike until you called out that exact mentality. I remember specific cases where I just gave an opinion about eggman’s voice not sounding as good as it used to, but then Mike Pollock jumped in and felt the need to defend his voice acting when he could’ve just not. Someone once DMed him saying he should change his Twitter tag to “itsakike” obviously a shitty comment you should just ignore or block without saying anything, but he still felt the need to have an entire conversation with the guy, basically enabling the person even further rather. When I brought this up, Mike just advertised a recording of him trolling a scammer? I just ignored it because it was dumb, but I think you did a great job showing people that just because he’s the voice of Dr Eggman, doesn’t mean he’s some greater person, and should still be held accountable for shitty things he’s said. Always good to see Outer Wilds getting some attention! Such a shame that it was robbed of GOTY, but with almost everybody who played it recommending it to everyone they know, hopefully it'll get some belated recognition through word of mouth. I'm glad to hear Deathloop gets a recommendation too. The premise really appeals to me and it's the kind of game I'd like to make a full video about, but I really don't want to pay full price while it has Denuvo DRM on it. RE4 in VR look incredible, I wish I could play that. Nice video and a great summary of last year.
This is before watching the entire video so sorry if I miss a few things that you do mention in it. 2021 for me was interesting for a few different reasons. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury was awesome and made me appreciate the game a lot more than when I first played it in 2016. Miitopia while being a remaster, was the first time I played the game and it has since become one of my favorite games ever. The Smash DLC was pretty good, and Sora in my opinion was a fitting end to Smash Ultimate’s DLC. That was essentially half of what I got on the Switch because that was half of the story for me. This was the year I got a gaming laptop and I got so many games for great deals on Steam. Sonic 3 and Knuckles, SA1 and 2, Generations, Undertale, Deltarune, and I even got Sonic Mania for free when it launched on the Epic Games store, I even got a chance to play Project 06 which has become my favorite fan game ever. Speaking of Sonic, his 30th Anniversary……….I liked the symphony, has some of my favorite renditions of iconic Sonic songs and Sonic Colors Rise of the Wisps was well done in my opinion. But to be honest, most of it was not the best, especially with one particular title. I was pretty excited when Colors Ultimate was announced given that it was one of my favorite Sonic games, but as the months went on, things went back and forth between the fan base, and with my thoughts on the game, it was just an overall mess. It just got to a point where I didn’t know what to think anymore, but I did end up getting the game for Christmas, and it was more out of curiosity of how I would feel playing it. I do think it’s a fine remaster, with things that were cut that I personally miss like the multiple save files and the Miis. But overall, this soured how I needed to think about Sonic games in particular from build up to release, and I’ve decided not to take part in the discussion of future official Sonic titles at least before and at release, whether new game, spin-off, or remaster, I just want to stay out of it, which is why I haven’t said anything about Sonic Frontiers, and even avoiding videos talking about it, and just waiting until more info comes out to form my own thoughts. Outside of that sour moment for me personally, I did enjoy what I played this year, and I am looking forward to what’s coming this year, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, and Freedom Planet 2, just to name a few. Sorry for the lengthy comment, I just wanted to get my thoughts on not only the year as a whole, but the 30th Anniversary as well. I’m looking forward to watching your video. After watching the video: It was really good, I liked seeing your perspective of all of these games that came out. I did admittedly miss a few titles last year, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, Metroid Dread, the Sam and Max Remasters, and WarioWare Get it Together, just to name a few. So yeah, I may need to keep an eye out for those, and I’ll try to also keep an eye out for Outer Wilds, looks really cool.
Honestly it feels weird when you talk about the Sonic fanbase because from you, it sounds like the fanbase does nothing but suck off the ego of SEGA and Sonic when for me, in the fanbase it's almost been a constant war between the negative and positive sides. When Colors Ultimate footage came out, I'd say almost an equal half of people were saying it looked good while others pointed out the excessive bloom, technical errors and some even calling it Sonic Colors: DX. The fanbase is been kind of cold when talking about Frontiers until recently and even then it's still only lukewarm in terms of topics; originally there was basically nothing to talk about but criticize the lack of gameplay or information, and that was to the point where Twitter started debating over the only Sonic-thing in the trailer, the model and started a whole war on how lifeless the animations and how short Sonic spines were on the model.
I think everyone’s experience & beef with the sonic fanbase is different. For me for the past few years I’ve seen nothing but people making videos, essays & comments about how bad the “meta” era is & how it ruined the franchise & that the “dark” age is actually good & how the Adventure games are masterpieces. I don’t entirely agree with those opinions & hearing the same thing over & over again really annoys me after a while.
I know this video is 2 years old so you probably already discovered this by now, but when it comes to Dread not following up on Samus' rivalry with the Galactic Federation, there was a mistranslation with Fusion. In the original japanese translation of the game, the experiments done with the Metroids was done by an insurrectionists group rather than the actual Federation as a whole. There is a video called "The Other M that never was" that you could watch for more information on this.
2021 was a year I mainly started to get back into reading Manga and watching Anime I didn’t have much interest in a lot of games this year outside of Halo Infinite and the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes, most of my gaming have been backlog related, and I finally beat a Kingdom Hearts game

I don't like any of the Sonic cartoons as they're mostly boring and don't match what I like about the series. Sonic X was probably the closest to being what I'm after, and Adventures is at least entertainingly dumb, but SatAM, Underground and Boom do nothing for me.
@@telekinesticman I'll respect your opinion. But one last thing: sonic, jurassic Park, star wars, James bond , Jaws, x men and aliens have had so many missteps. But it seems that sonic is the only one that is not considered a respected franchise while the others are considered respected and liked even tho they had as many missteps as sonic. I feel embarrassed when I say I like sonic but not embarrassed when I say I like star wars. What makes you think these franchises are still respected, even with the many missteps, while sonic is considered a laughing stock despite having the same amount of misstapes as other big and respected franchises. In my opinion I think it's the modern design and the voice acting.
@@ehabseifo1407 I'd argue all of those things you mentioned are also terrible now, but for some reason the legacy of their original films is still fondly remembered, whereas Classic Sonic games in the mainstream are often still viewed with a somewhat negative lens, retroactively. Maybe this is because Sonic is a videogame and some people just don't get it, maybe it's too different from something like Mario, or maybe Sonic has just had SO many major mistakes in the public eye that he's seen as so bad now. Jurassic World sucks, but the masses love it. Sonic 06 sucks, and EVERYONE hated it. That's my quick thoughts.
@@telekinesticman its an interesting opinion.I do think 2d sonic is still considered great to thr public where as 3d sonic is not. I think the reason why the original films for each of these big franchises are still well respected is because their original movies they have aged well. The special effects for star wars still hold up for example and because of that these franchises will forever be considered great even with the many missteps they have . where as the original 3d sonic games-sonic adventure one 2 and heroes, great for their time, are no longer fondly remembered its because they have not aged well where as 2d sonic, including rush trilogy and the advance trilogy, have aged well. It's hard for anybody to go back and play the sonic adventure trilogy and like them is because they have not aged well where as anybody could go back and watch the og jurassic Park and enjoy it since it had aged well with its dinasours and acting. What sega should have done in order for 3d sonic to be remembered good was to make rly good remasters for the og 3d sonic games just so they can be continued to be remembered good. But instead they made horrible remaster thta made the old 3d sonic games look bad. Many old 3d games like super mario 64 have aged horriblly but nintendo and other companies were smart enough to make remasters like super mario 64 ds to fix all the problems just so the og super mario 64 can be fondly remembered. Christina white head was smart enough to remaster sonic one and sonic CD to fix all the problems which made people look at the og games more fondly. Thats my thoughts
The 2d sonic games, james bond, jurassic Park, star wars and many other big franchises managed to be continued to be respected even with the many garbage recent contents we got its because they have aged well. The sonic adventure trilogy didnt survive to be looked fondly, when sega kept releasing garbage, it's because they have not aged well.
First Camp Cretaceous like you said is a kids show and your complaining about the main characters not being seriously injured? Ok (completely ignoring the near death experiences the kids get into but sure), and technology in the Jurassic universe is highly advanced and beyond what we have in real life robot dogs that fire electric bolts isn’t to far fetched. The kids aren’t cheating against the smoilodon they’re making loud noise to scare it off like the scene your playing and what your saying completely contradict each other, and they’ve been through several life or death situations trying to stay positive and enjoy any amount of happiness is literally what anyone would try to do. On sonic in rise of the wisps he’s supposed to be a jerk. I don’t know where this idea that sonic is supposed to be super courageous came from but he’s literally characterized as a teenage blue speedy hedgehog with an attitude I’m sure everyone has been a teen at some point and knows they can be pretty rude. Not to mention the short wasn’t even really meant to be action focused it was meant to be more comedic, it’s doing something separate than mania adventures so a comparison is almost entirely invalid. Some fans are excited for frontiers and prime because of the idea and the hope it will be good, not seeing anything doesn’t mean you can’t be excited for somethings potential, the marketing isn’t sonic teams fault whatsoever it’s SEGA’s marketing team.
@@telekinesticman Sega have released images and info about the game and it’s basically confirmed to be an open world game. While not a lot there is crumbs of something people aren’t blind they are just interested and even excited for a game that has a good concept and quite a bit of potential.

Why be excited for something you don't even know exists yet? What is there to be excited about? Blind faith is pointless.
@@telekinesticman Sega have released images and info about the game and it’s basically confirmed to be an open world game. While not a lot there is crumbs of something people aren’t blind they are just interested and even excited for a game that has a good concept and quite a bit of potential.
