  • Mary Anna Hartley discusses the brick church foundations of the mid-17th century church at Jamestown. The team made some unexpected discoveries while working on the foundations. Please consider supporting the archaeology. The Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation is a non-profit with no public tax dollars supporting general operations. GOD love your heart, Ms.MaryAnna, for your superb presentation of so much labour & study by yourself & your comrades.
I hear, from your tongue, that you must be a local lady.
I am from Gloucester, SedgyCreek, in Guinea.
My sister worked for JFP / JYF for thirty odd years, beginning as an interpreter, sales clerk, and Executive assistant to the Board.
Jamestown has always held a special place in the heart of my family. We must not forget the blood, toil, suffering, spent treasures, sacrifices, hopes, triumphs, & defeats of our forefathers, upon whose shoulders we stand. Thanks & praise to all of you who labour for knowledge & that the understanding & wisdom thereof may be used for our good & GOD'S glory.

Some of us out here are descended from Jamestown, Virginia settlers, including myself. Interesting. It looks as if ground shift of some type has gone on in the foundation. Unstable ground or small earthquakes?

Please correct me if I'm wrong but you said the first church was built in 1617 pilgrims didn't come until 1620 so who was it that built the church?

This is the Jamestown colony of Virginia, which begins in May 1607, the Plymouth Colony of Massachusetts begins 13 years later in 1620.

Zero ground penetrating radar tomography in place - just people looking to hog the spotlight by scratching at the surface and making videos. What a waste.

We did use GPR on this site, but didn't make a video about it. There are probably a few past videos on this channel with GPR and will be some future ones as well.
