Narratively, it makes sense. But it's a little awkward. Actually, 3 has a better execution of Harry's arc which is better as flip and switch between villain and hero. It's a complete arc.

It’s not a good comic adaptation; it’s a good film. Thank you for taking the time to make the video, it does clarify that Raimi’s Spiderman is indeed NOT the comic book Spider-Man, as many of the newer iterations of the character clarify. Nonetheless when it comes down to sheer storytelling ad heart, I don’t mind the changes the Raimi films made. Keep in mind that adapting comic books at this time was still a very, very new idea and up until that point, what did we really have? Blade was successful-ish, there was a shitty Captain America, and Howard the Duck or something. This was one of the first full-blown comic book stories and Raimi was trying to give fans of the comic a good live action movie fix while also trying to give the general public a unique introduction to a character they’d only seen in morning cartoons.
In my opinion it comes down to the script (which is the backbone of any film.) Strong script = stronger foundation for your film, and this movie honestly does have a strong script. The character is an adaptation - not an original - and that’s okay, in my mind.

I think that Spider-Man 2 was also based on the Amazing Spider-Man Annual (the first or second one). Where Peter temporarily loses his powers

@@klemdas not for his performance that is not terrible by the way he shows emotions in alot of fights and moments with Harry and Uncle Ben, the main reason is for his movies in general and script that is far better than Andrew's or Tom's movies. He also has the best movie of the character,

The only flaws with the Raimi trilogy was MJ’s character in general, acting (not Willem, Molina, Cliff, Simmons, Rosemary and Joe) from Tobey, Kirsten, Franco etc. Cgi because its and old film, Harry’s slow development, and Peter constantly reversing development to simp for MJ. It still has better writing and cinematography overrall

When you point out the flaws or issues one has with Spider-Man 2, or you tell them that one might think the Webb Spider-Man Movies or Watts Spider-Man Movies are better than Spider-Man 2 (Or the entire Raimi Trilogy), they act as if they've been personally attacked.
1:31. He's grown on me but he's still a little boring to me. He's more entertaining in 3 in all honesty.
I think making the comic arc is great and about what the right thing is but Spider-Man 2 is about choice and responsibility. Would a real world without Kingpin need Spider-Man? What impact does he make? Can't he just be happy? His life is suffering because of Spider-Man. As said in Spectacular Spider-Man, "With great power comes great responsibility but shouldn't my first responsibility be to the ones I love?" His whole life is passing him by because of Spider-Man and by the end of the movie he learns his life is more fulfilling as Spider-Man. Or at least that he can't let people die. If you were the only superhero and you were a normal guy with his problems, you'd question it too. 14:53 yeah it's a hard balancing act, so I totally get how this contradicts but to be honest I think it's BECAUSE he doesn't want to be Spider-Man, he loses his powers
Ok how does Peter gaslight MJ into getting with him? He wants it at the beginning but realizes it's too late. MJ loved Spider-Man and Peter. The message of the movie is "you can have happiness while not ignoring your responsibility" I think. It's why he loses his powers, he is only doing this for Uncle Ben. He only regains them when he finds out who he is when he saves the kid from the building. Still though, it doesn't say he's happy but I guess he gets the powers back because he is staying true to himself and truly believes in what he's saying (unlike the first movie in which he feels burdened by the responsibility) until MJ sees him unmasked. The next movie shows the ugly reality of their relationship and how relationships take work. Although Peter saves her, he isn't forgiven just like that.

3:24. I never liked Raimi MJ. She's so bland and despicable for the way she cheats on every guy. She's an object packaged to sell a connection that isn't really there because the screenplay gives her the cookie crumbs of a character to work with.
Watched these spider man vids backwards, and tho i grew up on sam raimi's trilogy, i will say i like your perspective. Interesting seeing how unlikable the main trio of peter, mj, and a "Harry" are here vs the MCU (tho Harry is more entertaining than mj atleast especially when he's yelling then getting hit 😂 the first fight with Peter (actually, both) in 3 were his best moments for me lol. You calling out him hating peter for his job makes no sense stuck out to me 😂)
I'd love if you someday do the 3 console versions of the sami rami spider man games(and maybe Andrew's, and ig marvel's ps4 spider mam is their Tom Peter lol) as i low key consider those a alternate timeline version of the movies.

I like your passion and the fact you care so deeply for the spiderman comics. Spiderman 2 still remains one of my favorites. I agree that harry and Peter’s "friendship" was kinda...lol but it's still better than the relationship between them in TASM 2. Plus, all the times harry is a bad friend makes for a great drinking game

First off the premise of the video is flawed just bc it's completely accurate to Spider-Man No more doesn't mean it is not a bad Spider-Man movie like he is acting. Next he says that Peter is nothing like the comics in the Raimi movies and the only thing he has is his love of science and bad luck and he just feels average. When in actuality Raimi's Peter Parker is very complexed character who is responsible, nerdy etc and he seems to forget a lot of what Raimi gets right vs what he doesn't. He only talks about what he doesn't like vs what things the film gets right when it comes to Peter's character which doesn't prove anything and isn't fair to the movie. Next thing he talks about Peter's struggles and acts he doesn't go through much and quits for a bad reason. Sure he is correct it is different from the comic but as i explained just bc it is different from certain comics doesn't mean it is a bad Spider-Man movie as there a plenty of different Spider-Man comics. Also he misunderstands characterization like with Harry he says Harry hates Peter for no reason when the reason is because he believes Peter is friends with Spider-Man which is the man who killed his father which is someone Harry highly loved and looked up to so it makes sense he is upset plus when he got mad at Peter he was drunk so it makes sense. I can keep going on but I'd be here forever the point is the whole video is flawed and doesn't at explaining why it is a bad Spider-Man movied.
