      Glad your trying the diy battery I recommend the jbd BMS or the jk BMS. The jk has active balancing Wich I like and the jbd has passive. Don't do what I did and not balance them beforehand it took over a week for all the cells to match

    You can hook up those batteries up to a DC welder and if they aren't dead for too long you can shock them to life

      I have tried that but 2 of them have bad cells and the rest are reduced capacity

    Being cold, i would rap them batteries in a heated blanket they dont like being charged in cold weather. Put some Styrofoam arond them to. I run almost my whole trailer off 18650's I'm surprised joe didn't inform of that. Be careful an check them batterys often. My brother built himself 3 14s 80p packs an never check them or his baitium an burnt his house down. I check my battery's individual volts monthy an use my klien infrared camera weekly. Great battery bank.

      Yes I have foam to insulate them and a tem controlled heater for winter time. And yes on checking the batteries and that's why they are outside. I am looking into adding a couple of those lithium fire extinguishers inside the box as well. I have a jbd BMS and a 5 amp active balancer on top of it as the jbd didn't have enough to equalise the huge packs. I would love to see your setup if you have a video up please share it

    Nice! I have a large powerwall built with 18650 using Batrium as the BMS. Agree 100% its for someone with time vs money (in my case I'm retired and did it as a hobby) but I'm in year 7 and the oldest packs just went over 2,000 cycles and working great. The key for long life in my experience is lower stress on the cells by doing a larger battery so you can operate in the middle range and avoid the extreme min (3.0v * 14 = 42v) and max (4.2v * 14 = 58.8v). I do 3.54v/pack * 14 = 49.5v min to 4.0v/pack * 14 = 56v max with an overall average 37% DoD. And if you can, do moderate ambient temps. And great to hear @AveRage_Joe help you - his work with 18650 helped me several years ago - he's one of those 'real info' channels.

    How much of this is a business expense write-off?

    • @Self.reliant
      @Self.reliant  5 месяцев назад

      All of it as this tiny house is a rental unit. But great question. One thing people don't understand is that even though it's a write off on taxes it still cost you money you just don't have to pay income taxes on it but sales tax still applies.
