The energy you put in the project, you are going to get thousands of times back,,, great videos,, a master of power,, 💪
No issues with different make batteries as long as li-ion and mah or the charging or discharging in the specs match?
I started with 300 batteries and seeing this pile exhaust me. Good job man!
Those are some HUGE batteries! If you use the pack-size heat shrink over each pack, you'll find it holds it together solidly without the need for bolts :)
definitely going to wrap it with something. I looked it up and it was like $110. It turned me off at that moment but its looking better as I search for other options.
Loving this build. Need to start harvesting cells to do a system for my off grid workshop. I would love to get 50-60kwhr because I'll be operating all my tools and such.
Dang 6500 batteries man, I got to watch this.. Thumbs up before you get started 👍👍👍👍👍
love the segway at the beginning. Nice editing!
What a nice setup! I'm working on an 18650 system using 8,000 batteries. I'm still breaking down the battery packs I bought.
Nice build. I have 9216 cells in my house system. Still a work in progress. Been at it part time for over a year already. It does work but not to the full potential yet. Good luck with your build and play safe
Thanks Frank.
Looking GOOD Man! Gonna be a Monster build for sure! Fun times ahead! 💥🤘
I realized I somehow wasn’t getting new videos and checked in to see. How’s the project going? Any updates coming soon? I’ve been traveling so haven’t had any time to work on my project after testing and sorting 20kwh of cells. I’m looking forward to taking them next steps on mine as well as seeing your progress!
Thank you! I have been focusing on the crypto market all year. I have a smaller 12 kwh rig for now. I have half of the big packs done. I was hoping to have a big shop built and I guess I have used that as an excuse to wait. I should make an update video for all those that are interested. If I could do it over I would have bought bigger cells like 120ah lithium or 280ah Lifepo4. I have had set backs finding room for all my 18650s (14s 600p) to be in a convenient place to power the house. Good luck with your cells. It has been a great hobby.
Did you get the Growatt installed and working with 63kwh pack?
So this is where all the batteries went from battery hookup.
Jerry can of fuel next to 5000 lithium cells, what could go wrong 😳 Good job BTW 👍
Hey Rodney, did you build the powerwall or did you quit?
People interested in watching how it went!
Thumbs up for the project!!
Nice quantity. I am trying to do something like that too. Looking forward to start a channel of my own and do this
Next time you maybe want to drill 2 holes close to each other and instead to use stainless steel bolt, you can use plastic your rap.
This is awesome! I just subscribed.
Thanks david
Ok is good idea but with risks...to large packs and you have problem with large bus current...better few smaller packs and put packs parallel... better cooling and current management....
You have to know you don't have brand new cells....
But what do I know about that....
The cells all tested new. I had enough cells that I didn't use the used cells or even ones that test below rating.
Nice ....like the video 🖖😎👍 bus bars must be large ....how much current shuld u pull from the packs that u shuld know before u bild the pack ...what u pull long term ...what short term...
100A is extrem for dc current ....
after 150A is considered dangerous if anything begins to heat up ...and if heats up it will also burn ...
200A is insane to run anything with that current and belive that would last...
and use anything else as cooper is a joke ...aluminum have 2x resistance as cooper...
That are few thoughts that I add ....practical application....
For 100A that I draw from battery's I use 120mm² fine wired cable and with eye on the equipment....
Good luck....👍👍👍
@@bostjantrancar9605 thank you. Im using all copper. No aluminum. 12kw ÷ 48v=250a at the low end. House uses 30kwh a day. 1 a/c and well pump. Range will stay on grid and maybe dryer unless its a sunny day.
I can't wait to see how this turns out! Are there rules to making your own battery for a house? Like safety inspections or whatnot?
not if it's off-grid. grid tie needs to be inspected.
bit late but this is nuts I must say :) I went with Eve 280ah Lifep04 batteries, 48v 15kwh. JK BMS, done in a few days.
Nice, If I could do it over I would def do it that way. so much easier. but I had fun doing it and It was more of a hobby/budget/learning build. Its looking smarter everyday with these energy costs going up. I think we are way ahead of the curve.
Great work you needed our 7S battery holders would have saved your days of work.
I bought one to try out. order# R622699601. I have a printer but need to get it set up when I have some more time. too many projects! Item looks good. high quality. Thanks
Buen Trabajo!. son muchas Btaerías en Paralelo, como las proteges de un corto o Falla de alguna de ellas? Saludos.
Awesome! How and where did you get so many batteries? How much have you interested in this project so far? It's awesome! I'm planning to design a WiFi battery monitor system. Msg me if you are interested. It'll plot voltage and current and store it in a microserver which will be connected to a router via wifi. And it will be super cheap and scalable. It will be capable of monitoring packs independently
Impressive amount of batteries you got there. Now imagine how only 1 of them can ruin everything if get faulty or get shorted somehow.
Thanks! Thats why I Fused each 4 cells. I could easily add cells if needed. All these cells are new old stock and all were capacity tested separately.
You kinda described how you placed each battery into each pack?...but not really... So basically?....when you are placing the cells into the new packs?...do you place them based on their capacity?...like 2800's at the top?...& 2200's at, near the bottom?... &/or do you just place similar cells together?...like 2350's...2400's...2340's?...etc?...thanks
4 like cells together connected to the bus bar with a 4 amp fuse. I think in part 2 it will make more sense. but I dont think it would matter. In my mind the only thing that matters is that each series pack has the same capacity.
I was wondering the same thing.
any updates after 7 months?
Thanks for asking, I have 7 batteries completed, i started into Crypto and mining, so it has taken up alot of work space. I did just buy 14 100ah LiPo cells from Batteryhookup. I could do an update video with that..
And part 2 ?
Hey man! Any news after a year? Did you finish your mega-powerwall?
hey, its half done (7s), my interest got taken away by Crypto. but I still have my mini system up and running
Subbed, can't wait to see more!
Thank you, Hope to produce!
Firstly this video is awesome cause i love those batteries and second your collection of these many cells 😍👍
Thank you sir!
Boa tarde tenho um banco assim de 24v 29,5 kwh
What do you expect in capacity will your powerwall be :)?
Around 60 kwh
Where’s a good place to learn the math and basics of this? Looking into a schoolie conversion with a hefty power setup
ooohh man thats a tonn of 18650s!!!!! you are lucky ;)
Nice 👍 I’m subscribed
thats super good safe and smart super good love how masive it is HUUUUGE so insane @@
Comintment!
Where can I get affordable cells in South Africa they are so expensive 😭
Hello Rodney,
Please if you could help me with my question, I have bunch of laptop cells, mixed ( ICR , INR ) and planing to DIY 3S pack for solar. is it okay to mix ICR and INR Li-ion??
yes. cant mix Lifepo4 and Li-ion cells or with lead acid.
Hi friend I also made a 24kw 18650 wall
Curious what you have set as parameters in the inverter
such as Bulk Voltage
float
Network return
Voltage Cut Off
main thing is to make sure the inverter is set to the type of chemistry your batteries are. I like 56v to 46v for 14s lithium ion batteries.
Is that the Growatt 6000T DVM? I got that one and it is incredible!
Good. Its the 12k. I have electric appliances and a well pump.
Nice! Just subscribed. Big a$$ packs!
What is the minimum ampere capacity of a single cell used in the battery?
2200 mah
1000mah after a few CDR test. lol
@@RodneySolarCircuits Excuse me. Can I put from 2200mA to 1000mA in a single column? Thanks
@@أبوبكرأحمد-ح1ع The goal is to have the same capacity in each series. so you can mix. as long as the total is the same
Hi Are these batteries new or used? What is the efficiency of used batteries. Thank you
These cells are "new old stock". all tested at perfect capacity or higher. You can use used cells. do lots of watching different videos. it took me more than 6 months of watching everything I could to get half a clue of what was safe. good luck
I'm looking at batteryhookup these are a great deal! Did you have any trouble removing bus bar from them? I worry about used batteries because I have torn some of the cells trying to remove the bus bar..
I haven't had issues with any batteries from them unless they are for salvage. Modem batteries are good, new old stock. Always capacity check them before using them. Safety first. What bus bar are you referring to?
👍🤗
Just subbed looks like a great channel
Can we watch it explode?! Would be mega viral...& Expensive! #Thermal Runaway
I'll start the #gofundme
@@RodneySolarCircuits LOL
Hey man, what happened to part 2?
Thanks for asking, It got delayed for Crypto mining and trading. I have half done so i can power essentials if need be. I filmed some stuff last week. I have a couple projects going. I started dabbling in electric bikes and skateboards. I really dont have a "good" place to put all the batteries and inverter. I dont wanna set it up twice. I want a metal building for Solar panels and everything, but prices are to high.
@@RodneySolarCircuits haha I know what it’s like dude, so many little projects going on all at once and you don’t want to half-ass any of them. Nothing worse than having to build it twice also.
We look forward to whatever you’ve got coming next, sounds like you’ve got alot of cool projects in the pipeline ✌️
Mega! Subscribed
Please I need some batteries.. From Nigeria
Thé part two 🤣
hey dude it is that you are not using a fuse wire?
Im building bus bars now. will have 4 amp glass fuse for each 4 cells.
@@RodneySolarCircuits ahm..so dude spot weld it is not recomended in a recycle battery laptops?
@@marcelopepito51 I don't understand. These are New old stock that were all tested and have full capacity. Grouped in 4 that are same cells, same age, Same capacity then connected to the other sets through a fuse. Sounds good to me. Im not gonna fuse every cell. That's over kill. This is labor intensive enough. Maybe with a smaller pack.
Regards Leszek :)

Dude, this is „sikh”
Dood you got to much time on your hands!!
That's yesterday's DIY technology.
I do!. I have all morning most days unless I work 16hr days, which I do about every other day the last couple months to pay for all this. Im doing all the spot welding now. its gonna take a couple weeks. I had to cut 1000ft of nickel into 3"
