They were immensely talented but also so lucky to have the greatest producer and engineers.
George Martin had never produces Rock/Pop music prior to this. He taught the lads somethings and they showed him somethings ,too.

The rhythm section was slowed down, as documented by plenty of sources. I'm not sure if it was ever specifically confirmed for Rain, but it seems like the vocals were sped up slightly like on I'm Only Sleeping. The high harmony sounds unnaturally relaxed for John at such a high pitch.
The vocal tracks were sped up and the backing was pitched down. Amazing how they did that, but it was the genius of The Beatles, Geoff Emerick and George Martin that did it. Leaves me slack jawed

I was there in front of the tv when Ed Sullivan said, .. the Beatles!! I was immediately hooked. But we didn't have all the information that's available today. I'm learning along with everyone else about the backstory but to get the fever was like nothing before or since. That unfortunately can't be replicated sixty years on.They were magical.

Andre Popp used backwards recordings back in the 1950s, as George Martin knew. It doesn't detract from the recording, as it sounds brilliant

It's very true. What these guys accomplished in a short span of time is utterly mind boggling.
They didn't even think *this* song was good enough to make the album so it landed as a singles B-Side.
There's no one close to the musicianship, creativity, harmonies in a band nowadays.
It's all fake Auto-Tune and Snap-To-The-Grid garbage now. It's unlistenable.
