If I could ask, I am wondering what is the best way to recognize if a phone is the same as the TCL Flip 2. I was just at a T-mobile store. Their TCL Flip Go has, on the app screen, 9 icons that are exactly the same as the ones on the Flip 2. On the tools screen there are 8 icons and 7 match up. The OS is AOSP, version 11. I did not think to ask if I could pull the back cover off to see the model number. Maybe it's a code in the Setting >>Phone info area.
@JoseBriones could you sideload apps to, for instance, run a smart watch? I am ideally looking for a dumbphone that will be able to have certain apps sideloaded, while not being a transitional device, I want to limit my interactions. I currently have a Nokia 6300 4g and it is perfect in capabilities, but the kaios makes it difficult because I would like to run my smartwatch with it, and be able to use some form of talk-to-text or Google assistant. Any suggestions? I was watching your video on the XP5PLUS and that seemed promising, if my requirements could be met by it. I just want a long-term solution for a dumbphone so I can put my smartphone on a more permanent standby. I appreciate your videos, you have become my go-to source for this subject. My brother already switched from smartphones and I'm trying to get my sister to do the same.
@@JoseBriones It seems that the sudden stop in KaiOS development forced the design of a keypad friendly version of android. If you look closely it took some design elements from KaiOS (the header bars, the notification count indicator, the general color scheme of some apps). which bands does it cover?!!!!? this is the information you are always missing. please always list which LTE bands each of these phones cover. it is very difficult to find especially if you dont list full model nunbers
That's why I have that information on the dumbphone finder for compatibility and which carriers work per phone. Moreover, that technical information can be found on the listing website or in the manual of the phone. Sorry for not including it, but I do so in other areas for simplicity.
@@JoseBriones there is No Band coverage information on there only your poor interpretation of what network it may PARTIALLY work on so please dont confuse the situation even more. also there are no links to manuals so I dont know what you're talking about (used mobile browser). you've dumbed it down so much that normal people cant use the site to find basic FUNDAMENTAL specs like band coverage. perhaps a section for those who are Not Dumb is in order. these phones are very obscure and the band info is very time consuming to find.
Could I download apps from Google play with this device?
Not possible
Is it my idea or the version of android it uses is the same as the one in the latest Alcatel Go Flip?
Yep. Same version it seems.
Its a sub 50 so either a forked kaios or a cheapo andro go
@@JoseBriones It seems that the sudden stop in KaiOS development forced the design of a keypad friendly version of android. If you look closely it took some design elements from KaiOS (the header bars, the notification count indicator, the general color scheme of some apps). If you could extract the apps we could test them in a transition device like a F21 Pro to see if they can replace the chinese ones.
Don’t use anything other apps on flip phone because u are too easy to get track by police and law enforcement
Hello, does this phone have emojis in messaging?
are there phone cases available for this phone? I'm trying to bedazzle it
I bought mines last year, and at that time there weren't any. I don't think they make cases for the feature-phone flip phones.
I looked and didn't see any that were bedazzled at all. I did see a pink case but it was very textured and probably would be hard to put gemstones on.
Yes in amazon
Can i use any other sim card in this phone?
Only when it's unlocked. You can buy them unlocked from Mint Mobile or eBay
Why type of SIM card does it use?
Nano SIM
Use a lower case l (L) for an I . No voice text?
No voice to text
@@JoseBriones Ok thanks, love your reviews. Watching the one on the Iris (consumer cellular) now.
how to change the time?
Does "hey Google" work with this phone?
No
What does it take to get this phone unlocked for GSM Carrier?
Buy it, use it on a Tracfone plan for 60 days, request unlock code.
Can't find it in Europe, only the go version
Good to know .
it had a web browser, why does your dumbphone finder website say that it doesn't have a web browser?
Thanks for catching that mistake. I'll fix that!
Hey I been watching your videos because I wanna switch to a dumb phone to reduced social media. But I don’t know which one to get. Nokia 225 nokia 6300 nokia 2780. I’m just looking for one that it works because I heard Kaios freeze and isn’t good. I’m just looking for calls and Messenge. I live I’m the USA🇺🇸(CA) my carrier is T-Mobile
I know this is way late but, I recomend the 225. It's main downfall is not group texting. I tried the 2780 and it froze/bogged. Also when scrolling contacts it only showed the first letter of the contact's name. how do you know what "A" stands for?
Can you download apps on this phone?
You have to modify it via a guide on GitHub. But yes after you have done that.
how can you add music from macbook to this
Yes but you have to use android transfer.
Does this phone have voice to text an can RUclips be deleted?
No. It doesn't have RUclips
I get x icon near my signal bars is that normal
It depends on the carrier. Sometimes that may signal drop of coverage, but sometimes it's normal
which bands does it cover?!!!!?
this is the information you are always missing.
please always list which LTE bands each of these phones cover.
it is very difficult to find especially if you dont list full model nunbers
You're NO HELP. I know what bands all carriers use and dont need someone to hide and interpret basic specs for me just simple facts please.
@@JoseBriones dont get me wrong I apreciate what you're doing in general but band info is very specific and difinitive with zero margin for errors and no interpretation needed so when it's not available no amount of celebrities or sugar coating can replace it.
I dont expect any of these to cover cbrs b48 or even bands 29 and 30 for at&t but you have got to include LTE band coverage absolutely 100% of the time otherwise this becomes a tremendous waste of time. you can even skip 3g for american market but not for EU either as hspa bands 8 and 20 are indispensable there. also here in n. Cali tmob switched all of band 71 to NR only.
Please you have not simplified it, you made it unusable
Is this international version?
Can you download RUclips on that phone
Not really
How Can you find it
Walmart or Mint Mobile
Does this work with cashapp
No
this thing only needs support for music streaming apps and maps.
no social media not even the camera.
please someone make a phone like this!!
Is it monthly pay for data
Not necessarily
How many times do we have to hear "Again for 20 dollars"
Idk. Make it a drinking game :)
There's a typo in your thumbnail btw- TLC vs TCL!
Fixed :)
Did Jose say "tethering"?! For 20 bucks?!
Yep. The plan allows it and you can use hotspot if you purchase their monthly plan.
is kaios will be dead soon ?
looks like dumb phones manufacturers drifting away from it
Not yet, but they need some greater adoption to be a viable platform in my opinion
@@JoseBriones Thaty's a shame, KaiOS works nicely on the Alcatel Flip.
@@kerc they keep on killin the api on it
Now any device under ver3 cant even use wa and its beginning to look like dumb flipper
