So you wanna race in the desert at the Biltwell 100? ....Well, here's what to expect.
Otto and the Biltwell crew almost over deliver on their motto for this race: "Good Times not Lap Times." The Biltwell 100 is hands down becoming my favorite motorcycle event of the year. The race features entry classes to fit nearly ANY rider, from expert to hooligan, vintage, to "if you can make it run you can race it." Heck, I even ran a lap this year.
For my first ever desert race entry, I fueled up my '84 YAMAHA XT600 and gave it a go as a 'Vintage Mono Shock' entry. Admittedly, I took it pretty easy this time around, fully embracing the races motto. But, now that I've broken the ice and have a general idea what's involved in running such a race, I'm already plotting my path to full glory next year - inspired by some of the riding I witnessed out there.
Good friends. Good times. Smiles for miles.

DUDE this event looks so rad! I gotta hit this next year cuz I finished building a 1982 XL500R this year and it would kick ass in that desert. How'd you get some of those camera shots btw? What camera setup do you have?

Dude, def come race that thing next year - you'll have a blast! And thanks for the comment! I shot this with an S5mii (all handheld - obviously), a Panasonic 50mm 1.8 and a 24 to 105 F4. And then I just stuck an Insta360 One RS on my handle bars for the race itself - nothing fancy at all👍🏼

@@lonewolfsmoto I am planning on it. I am originally from SoCal but I moved to Idaho about 3 years back. I think I'm tryna get my 89' CR250 build ready for Day in the dirt and hit this too if I can on my 82' XL500. Its about an 11 hour drive but totally worth it for sure if I camp out for a few days!
