I went through an eating disorder after having been raped. I went the complete opposite direction and lost 15 Kilo (around 33punds) and almost died, but for very similar reasons. Every time a man told me, he wasn't into that, or that I looked better before, I felt great and proud, because I wasn't sexualised anymore. I loved the fact that my boobs and butt disappeared and I looked more and more like a little boy. Of course, now I've grown into my "real" body (by which I mean: my healthy body that can carry me) and it makes me feel powerful. But I still notice a lot of men, who think that every woman that dresses well, does her hair beautifully, or shows some skin, is desperate for their attention (positive or negative). They are so stuck in their narcissistic world-view, that they can't imagine a woman that is absolutely self-fulfilled and that validates herself (or feels validated by her girlfriends). This really needs to change and everybody who still thinks, if you're sexy, you can't be a feminist, 'cause you must be busy people-pleasing, didn't get the memo!

That was a year ago. Given her experiences I doubt she can even raise a smile with attempted child rapist Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court. Sad time to be an American, lost the respect of the world if that man has authority

      @Srithor
every man is guilty in the sense that _most_ men don't stand up to their friends when they're acting inappropriately with women at work, for example. Men should stand up for human decency more often, is what she means. If the inappropriate way men generally behave with women, was a disease it would be a pandemic one. I don't like generalizations either, but I doubt that she meant that ALL men ARE BAD, RAPISTS. And to most people that's obvious.
This lady definitely went through a traumatic experience that she will carry with her forever, and it must have affected her world view, but that doesn't mean she's wrong. That doesn't mean that her past and current circumstances don't warrant her reaction to them, reactions you saw in the video above. That many women complaining about the same thing, would make anyone realise that there is a problem. Unless, they're all liars.
And maybe you're the one with the "inaccurate" world view.
Maybe you should think about that.
We all have biases, you do, I do, she does, but that doesn't mean we can't say or see truth in things.
And when we look at the facts, we see that 1 in 5 women are likely to be raped once in their lifetime, compared to 1 in 71 men.
      Source: www.nsvrc.org/statistics
      1 in 5 women.
So, I wouldn't say that "women generally don't get raped". Its a problem. Men need to be more aware of the importance of their role in changing how they (and by "they" I am making an inaccurate generalisation, but I hope you get the gist of my meaning) see women. I'm not saying all men are rapists, I'm saying women are raped most by people they already know. That's the average Joe. That could be someone you know. The facts speak for themselves, and they say that there is a problem.
And it's our job as people to stand up to men, or anyone, who hints or shows leniency towards committing things like sexual harassment (That "1 in 71" is worrying). I'm sure you agree with me, at least, on my last sentence.

Having lived with an addict, I, unfortunately, over what felt like a very long period of time, have come to understand the process of whats required in getting to "rock bottom". It's often worse than one might imagine.
The moment DJT was elected I felt as if DJT was America's and the worlds"rock bottom". We needed things to get SO bad that there were no options. We must look to each other and lift each other up. Creating a world that is more inclusive, more caring and more loving is far more comfortable and a considerably easier place to be. For too long we have all avoided being kind to each other for fear of a questionable reaction. Speaking to strangers, reprimanding friends inevitably sends us all back to feeling like children afraid of what others will think or concerned we will not continue to remain "cool". Not feeling stupid or looking like an idiot is unfortunately for many a driving force in most of their decisions. No matter the reaction of another, kindness and caring for others should always prevail. Responsible reasonable adults know when they have done the right thing without requiring the motivation to do it.
Rarely would we ever volunteer "mom was right all along", but without fail "The Golden Rule", "Do Unto Others, As You Would Have Them Do Unto You", or treat others how you would rather be treated ALWAYS contributes to making life considerably easier. Men and women create the world as we know it. Men need to be willing to offer more and take less. Women need men to participate in creating a world we can all be proud of, a world that feels a little less rock bottom and much more on top of the world.

Focusing on the perception of what others might be doing is much like making an assumption, its impossible to suggest whats right or wrong without knowing the facts. Concern for what we think we see and what is actually taking place is often one of mankind's greatest hurdles.
Focusing on others results in losing focus of ourselves. The priority should be making sure we do what is expected of us, and worrying less about the actions of others. If others fail to do their share life has a funny way of making everyone aware of it. Unfortunately, there are the ones who continue over and over not to understand their own personal responsibility, while complaining about everything currently taking place in their lives.
Too many feel blaming others helps, but learning that only makes problems bigger is another lesson life teaches. What we have, where we are, what takes place in our lives is entirely a direct result of our own doing. The process of growing up is meant to teach many lessons, but it is the choice to learn them or ignore them is our only way to move forward.
We all have periods of taking more than we give and as our priorities in life change so should that reaction.
"Keeping our eyes on our own paper" makes us accountable.
The statement women take way more and give less only further fuels a fire for a debate that men have definitely "taken" for a great deal for thousands of years. It is a little hypocritical to suggest anything other then women having quite a ways to go before their "taking" could come anywhere near that of men. Being around women, personally and professionally I am very aware of what women do. To suggest women don't do a lot and haven't always done a lot only appears to come from a position of being very uninformed. Childbirth alone offers awareness of the considerable difference of a man's participation and that of a woman. A small human grows inside a woman for months, close to a year.
Guys tend to experience problems functioning following a big meal.
When that small human is "ready" the woman's body expels it in hopes it will grow and become a functioning contributing responsible adult. And yet a man's part required at most 5 minutes of an activity he quite enjoys.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against men. I am however very aware that the majority of the problems we are all forced to encounter and potentially resolve are the result of choices made by men.
Choices that most often, unfortunately, have a lot more to do with ego over anything else. Throughout history, men have focused most on whats important to themselves, failing to think of others. While women often make choices with an intention of mutually affecting all.
Thinking of my own mother, who raised a family, while working full time and still managed to come home every day and make a meal, help with homework, maybe some laundry. I know she wouldn't sit and focus on herself until at least 10PM. Compared to me, who after a long day thinks about doing all that while lying on the bed, debating if I should eat, at the same time contemplating my having to get up.
Very honestly, men, we have a long ways to go before we are in any position to complain.

Low expectations of men much? I think the point was that it's men who have to control themselves, not that women should suppress themselves. Why can't men step back and reflect on the way they think and talk about women? It's totally possible. It's not 'men v women,' it's really not. No one wants to be second class.
