Mic is nice (besides that short on the first pair) but for "gaming" headsets, the shallow cups and leather pads are a huge no-go for long sessions.
Subjective. That's your experience not mine.
@@neonkingjavi4550 completely
@@neonkingjavi4550 i wouldnt say its subjective tbh, idk if u have tried fabric ones, but after playing with those for a while leather because really uncomfortable for long sessions
@@r32juan leather is easier to clean
thanks Brian, great vid. thanks for noting what it was plugged into during the mic test
always find your headset reviews really educational. Thoroughly enjoy them
really appreciate the explanation of imaging and its relevance in two current games
picked up tygr300r after seeing some of your vids. sound and comfort are amazing. paired with an elgato mic it's great. way better than any of my previous astros or steel series headsets
Thanks for this video! I need this review!
Dope comparison brother!
Holy crap, Brian didn't take a breather during this review. I feel like it was cut "faster" than usual
Man I’ve been waiting in this video!!! 🔥🔥
The PC38X Black and Yellow were 129 over the holidays, so I just grabbed a set of those. It's a steal at that price.
the DT770 with a detachable cable mod, and a mod mic has served me well. Though it will run a bit more than this, I feel like they will live forever and the comfort is honestly second to none in my opinion. I do own tons of other headphones from Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Focal and HiFi Man. But I have a special place in my heart of the way Beyers tend to feel. I admittedly haven't owned any "gaming" headphones in about 5 years, so I can not really make a new real world comparison here.
I own a pair of 1990s now but the hyperx cloud headset I had before was a lot more comfortable imo the beyers are really heavy in comparison and the velour pads are pretty hard they aren’t uncomfortable by any means but they are in comparison
@@alxexp are you using the pads that came on the headphone? because those are less soft than the second pair you get in the case. Also the dt1990 is one of the heaviest headphones beyer makes but it's also the best imo
@@cuspessor the other pads sound like shit tho
@@alxexp imo those sound better, on the harder pads the bass is boosted which can ever so slightly bleed into the lower mids, on the soft analytical pads the bass is smooth and leveled with the mids, similar to the dt880, now the signature leaning towards just bright. If you like a lotta bass it obviously makes sense, but the softer pads sound cleaner to me and are softer of course.
@JB I find the leather pads fine but I think saying the 1990s uncomfortable for long sessions is a huge stretch and I would never use 990s or 880s instead because in my opinion they sound, look, and feel far worse
I grabbed the 150's and I felt the ear cups were way too small. It was extremely uncomfortable for me during long sessions. The mic was great, though. I picked up the Epos H6 Pro open back and they are perfect for my weird head.
I'm gonna have to grab that H6 - I definitely qualify for "weird head" lmao
H6 Pro open (for me personally) felt and sounded like a PC38x with better build and less clamp.
@@badseedtech I was stuck between getting the PC38X and the Epos H6 Pro. Ended up getting the Epos. Would love to hear your thoughts in comparison.
My problem with headsets so far is I wear glasses and that leaves just enough opening on the side of my head at the temples to let in outside noises like a loud stereo from the other room. It seems to amplify the bass coming from the other room.
@@pauld4238 for what it’s worth, my open back Epos don’t seem to do this, and I wear glasses.
So Close!
I've had these for over a year now and loved them. Currently upgrading to TEAM TYGR mic and headphone bundle. I will say my ears do hurt after long sessions but I'm talking 6-8 hours straight.
love the vids man
The thing I wanted to hear: ear cup depth.
Thank you for a great review...
Would love if you took a look at H6 Pros too, not too many reviews of it out there and I'm sure you'd do a great review.
One advantage the SHP9500 has is the soundstage for games. The open back is excellent. I do not have the Beyerdynamic's, but I do have the Flights, Corsair and such. Still like the spacious gaming the SHP gives. Plus it is 59.00 online. Just ordered the Penrose, will see if it takes over. I seem to like open back more for gaming.
The shp9500 is my go to for single campaign games.
For competitive fps, my PC38X and H6 Pro is my weapon of choice.
You have a new subscriber. :D
What are your thoughts on the EPOS H6PRO open back soundwise compared to the PC38X not just for gaming but for music as well?
Happy New Year!
Nice video as always. Would you consider testing the PG16 from Austrian Audio? It's a company with former employees of AKG so the quality could be quite good at an affordable price.
Still love my Beyer Custom Game headset, i'm running mine through my schiit magni heresey with modi 3+ (the mic is removable so you can use a custom (3.5" rean to 1/4" neutrik in my case) cable. and the on ear cup bass adjustment to dial them in to perfection is something i think beyer needs to bring back !
*not to mention the removable pads (i'm using dekoni)
The Manufacturing in China is quite a let down tbh as i'd rather the quality i've come to know and love rather than take a gamble...
Also Beyerdynamic no longer ship to the U.K directly from their factory in Germany anymore (U.K leaving the E.U causing higher shipping/customs charges is a likely issue but still VERY annoying).
I bought the 150 one month ago and i absolutely love it. Sound is crystal clear and the Mic is one of the best i have ever heard. Outstanding in this price range.
For my head/ears it also is very comfortable. I can wear it for hours with no pressure.
would you say the augmented thingy is worth it
@@shijou2867 no, it's only a "nice to have". But the Headset sounds better via USB so the 150 is worth it
Those mics sound amazing
The Tygr 300R are only available for sale in my country bundled with the Fox USB mic for $290 USD. Also not sure on their comfort level given the circular earcup style (instead of ones that are better suited to fit ears, like Sennheiser standard). I own a lot of different headsets/headphones now (Razor V2s, Logitech G Pro X, Bose QC35-II, Sennheiser HD-599, Sony Pulse 3D, EPOS GSP-670 etc) and after putting 10s(sometimes hundreds) of hours in trying them the sad thing is that the headset with the best comfort level and sound quality combination is still my old pair of Sennheiser Game Ones...
I'm staying with the Fidelio X2HR. Looking svelte in 2022! Cheers!
Great review! Felt you were a little more honest than Frank was. I'm hoping you'll do the EPOS H6Pro next, I just bought a pair and love them (personally like them better than the PC38X).
i think they cost like around 10 dollars and the pc38x is almost always on sale like to is now. the H6 seems to be the more premium option.
Are you running them to your onboard or into an amp/dac?
@@garethg8226 AE-5 soundcard
@@travisr1324 Was considering buying a set but i'm afraid they might sound too similar to the GSP600 that i had before and wasn't a fan of.
@@garethg8226 Never had those so not sure. I can tell you that the PC38X has a completely open air sound, while the H6Pro feels/sounds more like a semi-open headset.
Are the PC38X and HD58X still fantastic headsets for games like Halo and Battlefield V (I play with a Controller, so I usually plug the headsets into the controller)? Or are there better headsets nowadays?
The mic sounds really good.
I have the Epos H60 pro and Beyedynamic 150. If your willing to spend like 30 bucks more, the H60 is way more comfy and has outstanding sound quality. Highly recommend.
I was looking at these for my laptop but decided to go with some IEMs.
I have both the MMX 150s & the PC38x & I really like both of them. Though between the two I'd say the PC38x are better for me.
Anything specifically better; would you say the PC38X is worth the extra $?
I'm pretty OK with my Custom Pro Studios for gaming.. Although I'm currently waiting for a pair of 1990 pros... Wanna try those...
I come from the "Sony wireless stereo headset 2.0" (original ps4 headset) and I have no experience in the world of audio, so I can't make many comparisons, but I can say that the comfort isn't bad, for me they are comfortable despite the ear touching the inside of the headset.
The pressure they exert on the head is also not excessive.
However I have noticed this: if I press the mute button, the microphone still picks up the voice, albeit at an extremely low volume. I don't know if this is normal
I rather like the idea of setting a flat audio curve if I would like too, but also 3D audio. That's my end game.
I need the starlight 12 review soon
My brand new TYGR300R is much much more comfortable than my 2 yrs old DT770 Pro which I used hours almost everyday. And TYGR300R's sound is good. TYGR300R became my daily headphone since Day1. I did not totally enjoy my DT770 ,and I was planning to try other brand. But I still bought TYGR300R when I saw it on sale. I'm happy I bought it.
Hey Brian, will you be doing a review of the "new" EPOS H6 PRO headset? I am looking for closed-back (forced to) alternative to PC38x and I am hoping this might be it.
GSP 500 & 600 are both under $100 right now on Amazon as well btw.
I'd really like to see you compare this to the MMX300 Gen IIs and if they're still relevant in 2022.
got the 150 for christmas its awesome
Would you say this headset is better than the Fnatic Reacts? Mine just broke from the volume and mic control and I've been looking for a new headset. Note (I don't need a mic)
I find it very useful that you compare products to specific, popular and category-leading alternatives rather than being too general.
depending there you live it is especially disappointing because the mmx100 is 99 euro but you can get the 770/990/tygr 300r for 120-130 and should be FAR more serviceable compared to the mmx100/150.
I would love to know how they stack up against the Cooler Masters MH 751, as it is praised by a lot of audiophiles, and I have one myself hehehe
What's your opinion on Audio Technica M40x with ZMF pads for gaming? Especially FPS games?
i hope to see some more wireless headsets soon. I have like a a 7-8 year old pair of Astro A50s that I want to upgrade lol
Is it really worth upgrading from the 9500/vmoda combo if you've been rocking one for several years now?
A friend of mine received a faulty MMX 100 too, same issue. Mic not steadily being picked up. Might be a QC issue
Holy shit the mic is so good.
Can I get a 2022 uplift desk updated review? It’d be much appreciated
I hear everyone saying they are uncomfortable but i just got mine a few days ago and they feel good it depends on head and ear shape
Just a heads up. right now you can pick up a set of EPOS SENNSHEISER GSP 600 for $99. I mean they sound the same as they did 4 years ago, just 150% cheaper. Nice vid!!
I feel like gaming headsets never do it for me for some reason. I even tried the PC38X and although they have the same form factor as the HD560s and HD599, they feel nowhere similar. The earcups are narrower and the weight doesn’t feel well distributed. It also makes crackling sounds.
I guess I will try Beyers next but I’m not sure if to pick the DT770’s or the DT990’s for casual gaming.
would you rather have these or the Philips X2HR on your ears if you were to use it for gaming, editing video and music?
I have the mmx 300s idk how to feel about these they look good but the extra 100 or so for the 300s is worth it IMO if you have a dac
This is probably the best mic I've heard on a gaming headset
Thnx 🙏
Wait didn't the 150 have a function where you press in the volume wheel to activate a little mic in the earcups that passes through sound from the outside, like a pseudo-open thing going on? You forgot to mention that? Or am I mixing it up with another headset?
Hey, so currently I have a Corsair HS70. Normally on sale around 70 or80 bucks, I've had them a little over a year. Would you consider this an upgrade or horizontal switch? I'm also looking at the hd58x because I'm interested in getting open backs and my fiance bought me a nice mic for christmas
How are new pads still not available for this thing
I use a pair of DT770s and DT990s that I switch between with a mod mic depending on application. They're by far the best headsets I've ever owned and really cover most, if not all, bases pretty darn well IMO. Beyerdynamic know what they're doing and I'd definitely trust them over most other companies to deliver a well-rounded product.
What dac are you using?
@@Josh-X I use a Creative AE-7 sound card.
I'm not great at judging raw audio quality, but I can say that the Razer Blackshark v2 pro is the most comfortable gaming headset I've ever had the pleasure of putting on my noggin...well I've also used the cloud 2, but I needed aftermarket earpads for the cloud series to attain maximum comfort.
Totally agree I also own both and the Razar Blackshark V2 is the gold stadard for gaming headset comfort
I agree in vangaurd sound signature sucks mmx 100 muffled at times and spacial awareness not to great will be getting tygr or 770 or 990🤞🏾
Maybe you should do a best 2021 Headset, keyboard, mouse and mousepad. All items need to be releaased at 2021 anything before or after 2021 should not be considered.
What would be the point of just 2021 releases? If there are better options that were released on different years, wouldn't it make more sense to include those, instead of restricting themselves to last year?
So the pc38x still inches out? Basically personal preference? Because I love my sennheisers
I bought the Tygr 300Rs last year & they're the best audio thing I bought tbh, I use them for my laptop with the magni3/modi3 & then I use them with the Schiit fulla e for my PS5.
Have you tried the stack with the PS5? Would you say the fulla is 100% worth it or if you’re on a budget it’s better to get the stack and call it a day.
I use the stack to connect to a Fosi amp for speakers so I felt I needed the stack
@@robertct06 Stack doesn't work for PS5, PS5 only supports UAC1 if I remember rightly, & the stack is UAC2.
Thats why I had to get the Fulla E specifically for the PS5 (already had the stack first obviously). The Fulla has UAC1 & UAC2 capability, so it works instantly with PS5.
I don't regret buying it at all, it's so well made & is a perfect little solution for PS5 specifically.
I can't say how good the FullaE is for other things, because I only use mine for PS5 & my beyers, for everything else I use the stack.
@@WildfireX thanks!🙏🏾
I get the audio through the tv but can’t get party or game chat audio that way. It’s a pain. I know it’s probably worth it for game audio but I don’t want to spend that🤣. Might have to bite the bullet though lol
How good do these compare with the DT770 250 ohms?
Are you going to be reviewing the epos h6pro?
New headset when I’m looking for one? Lets see what their made of.
That's too bad about the comfort because these sound intriguing for the price. Currently using the Philips X2HR's w/ a Vmoda boom mic pro, basically the setup that you said was outdated in the video. Was looking to upgrade and was considering the SHP 9500's bc I've heard good things, but maybe I'll go with the PC38X instead.
The SHP's are a downgrade from the X2HR's.
The SHP 9500s were on sale for $59 on drop up until a few days after Christmas , sold out now. I def regret not snagging either the HD58X or the PC83x since they were all a solid $30-50 off
Rogue fitness shirt? Let’s go
Are you going to be reviewing the Epos H3hybrid pros?
Hi. Thank for yous videos!!!
Little question : Which headset is best to knowing enemy position. Best headset to hear footstep.
Because i have (JBL Quantum One) and SteelSeries Artic Pro wiriless) but i don't hear enemy when they are above or underneath my position.
All audio setting in Warzone and Windows /Headset are set well. I am looking to buy another headset to improve this aspect. Could you help me please.
Thank you and continue your good job!!!!
I prefer the sound of the mic on this headphones than the mic used on the video
Hello BadSeed tech, new subscriber here! hope u see this message, im curious which wireless gaming headset u would recommend for pure gaming? ( 300-400 euro budget ) i dont listen much to music at all! cheers from Norway.
but uncomfortable "for me " .... the cable of my MMX100 makes heavy scratching noise into the earcups ... and the Mic Boom arm always fells down ~0.5-1cm ... thats annoying too ... they told me they will release better velour earcushions soon and maybe another type of cable ...
How come no one is shilling the comeback of the Porta Pro headset?
I've been waiting to hear what my man here has to say about the MMX 100
@badseed, should I get the beyerdynamic mmx 100 or the steel series Arctic’s nova 7?
What’s the best gaming headset in your opinion?
Really surprised at the mic quality here. My money is going to go to the Tygr 300R though. The fit of these two concerns me enough to avoid them.
Smart choice, worth 60 bucks more but it's the most comfortable beyer, I can wear it for hours with glasses! They sound so good too, super versatile for gaming, movies and music listening!
@@Frencho9 Thanks for the comment. It's good to hear feedback from someone that has actually used them.
I bought these this week and have already returned them.
Yes the 150 has a nice augmented feature and sounds great, but the comfort was its major drawback that and the fact it made my ears feel like they needed to pop such as you’d feel on an aeroplane. Real shame because I was super exited for them.
Me too have the same exact feeling. It actually makes my ears hurt
Love Beyerdynamic
What is the best $100-$150 open back headphone for gaming I can get, there is so many types and brands I just get overwhelmed
That all depends on what you want, where you are, the size/shape of your head...
Someone did say the PC37X are at $90 right now, so that could be your winner. I've had the Game Zero's for a while and they're pretty good.
I wish for absolutely zero clamping to my head, I need only gravity keeping the cans on my head.
I used to think that as well, until I got the SHP9500. It used to slide when I tilted my head back when drinking something. There is now a such thing as "too light" when it comes to clamping force.
Any interest in doing a $50, $100, $150, $200, etc. gaming headset suggestions list?
Right now I am getting Hifiman HE-X4 and Philips X2HR.
But can't decide if I just need to budget for a Sundara or Tygr 300 R.
Is there a way I could buy different ear cups
Bummer. I really hope Beyerdynamic refreshes the build of the TYGR and MMX300 to make both with detachable non-proprietary cables.
(No I'm not interested in the Custom.)
I want an Open back headphone with Attached mic and volume control from beyer🥹
How this compares with pc38x?
reminds me of a steelseries artics pro, design wise
Doesn't look anything like the Arctis Pro's.
this headset or epos h6pro ?
I own a xbox series x and I'm looking for a end game headsets for fps like warzone can you do a video on compatible headphones for it thanks in advance
Is it just me, or was the audio with the mic from the headphones better, than the whole video?!?!?!?!?!?
I wonder this or the cloud alpha
New Year, new thumbnail template?
Great channel
Thanks!
Will you review the eposH6
Yeah I need to get in touch with them. I’m curious to see what they’ve done with the Senn gaming ip.
How does the PC37X stack up against this? They’re currently going for $90 so it’s a tough choice for those near this price point
It's close but I'd probably still go with PC37X just for the comfort and the open back design.
Yeah Open back of the pc37x makes it a little better
Save a few more ducats & spring for the PC38x's. They're easily the champ right now of mic'd headsets, esp open backs
@@wheezin_the_juice oh no doubt I’m just saying like for those who are at that price point $90 for the these or the PC37X is a tough pick
koss kcs 75s for gaming. the X version comes in black and has a basic mic. its 20$ and beats any gaming set up till around 150$ range.
better advice really.
Cord getting tangled is a pain in the ass tho. Awesome sounds indeed
