Shinn is like the Gundam equivalent of Andrew Garfield Spider-Man. Was hated or didn’t get enough love in his own series, but is love by fans when he became a supporting character in a sequel/follow-up movie.

This video really shows how much Shinn was robbed of the MC title in SEED Destiny. He had so much potential to be a great character but was overshadowed by Kira. SRW gave him the best treatment he truly deserve. In the game, he had better mentors in Amuro and Quattro, a friend that he can relate to with Kamille. Someone who does a better job at motivating him like Loran and Garrod and of course, he has someone that he was able to protect like Setsuko. And then, you have the other characters like Setsuna, Heero, etc. rallying up behind him while he takes on the bad guys in the game. Such an amazing moment. I've always liked Shinn more than Kira, not that Kira was bad or anything but I just like the more tragic story that Shinn went through but it's really a shame that he didn't grew as a character and instead just became a second banana to Kira.
while more or less I agreed with what you said, I would say that my most favorite version of Shinn is still the DWG2 Shinn. while I adore Shinn's relationship with Setsuko as well his relationship with the others, I feel like DWG2 Shinn is the almost perfect counter to everything that has been done to him in the series, especially since the story was short and on point, and he still retained some of his middle anime counterpart in the first three stages, and the last two stages wrap the story neatly. my 2nd would be his the edge series manga counterpart especially because while his role remained more or less the same, they added more depth to him as they explained his journey in The Edge desires and how he ended up like that. The edge feels like the extension that the series needed to potray his anime counterpart, IF they really do want to potray him as the tragic protagonist, NOT a minor villain. my 3rd would be his SRW Z counterpart, simply because the influences that were added to him was the most huge since the beginning of the story. theres still a lot of his other counterparts that i like, but these three are probably my favorites. also, Gundam crossover 2: Shinn's counter attack and the fall of the three ship alliances is in work in progress! this is probably my hardest edit so far since I used a lot of masking this time to make some new animations for the Destiny Gundam, this would take in a different universe from my previous Gundam crossover where Kira and his gangs are the enemy of our Gundam protagonists(I don't necessarily hate Kira, but I want to try something different this time since the materials are available). I also added at least one other Gundam protagonist that didn't make any appearances in the previous crossover(so far, this might increase), so I hope you'll look forward to it
@@handa9233 Oh wow, I almost forgot about DW Gundam 2 but yeah, I really love Shinn on that as well. I remember that one part with Shinn fighting Kira and he just told him about his ideals yet he cannot ignore to fight and in the end, he was victorious with the help of Loran and the others. That was actually a satisfying ending to his story mission. Haven't seen the manga but I'm glad that he was at least justified on that one. I'll definitely look forward to your next video. These Shinn Asuka edits are really fun to watch.
it's really astounding how basically every adaptation of SEED Destiny is better than the source material about Shinn in some way, up to and including the manga versions like the Comic BonBon version, and the Athrun-focused manga The Edge
Poor Shinn, he got done so dirty in his own TV Show. I’m glad other media like the manga and SRWs especially have done him far better justice, cuz he really deserves it.
This was a good tribute for an unappreciated Gundam character. While Shinn Asuka may not personally be my favorite Gundam protagonist as a whole or even somebody that means to me as much as other characters in the Gundam franchise. However, I do find him more acceptable as both a pilot and a main character far more then I ever accepted Kira Yamato honestly... One of my favorite roles of Kenichi (other then Shinn) would be Ryutaros from Kamen Rider Den-O
I discovered Ryutaros first before Shinn, so I was surprised that a character over the edge like Shinn has the same voice with the happy go lucky imagin lol. like you see in the video, Suzuken even make a remark of Shinn combined with Ryutaros. anyway thanks!
the dude is still the main character of SEED Destiny to me. Still feel betrayed they set aside Shinn's perspective in the series. Love this man :) That's my super ace.

Finally, some love and appreciation for my man Shinn Asuka. Such a hated character more so for losing the final battle (being the biggest argument that people bring up). They threw his character development under a bus to just bring back the Kira and Athrun duo. Soooo much missed potential for Shinn and its very upsetting. It's very unpopular to like Shinn but I love him.
i'm not sure if you're implying that Shinn lost the final battle because he was hated, or that he was hated because he lost the final battle(gotta improve my english comprehesion), because if so, I don't think either were the case, especially the latter. actually I find the idea of Shinn losing to be very interesting and to be honest, could be actually better than him winning to convey a strong message. but... *not like that* I might sorta understand what they were trying to pull and convey, but the way i see it something went wrong in the executions and the final product ended up being a disaster, and the impression that the audiences received wasn't as expected. instead of hammering the entire center focus and emphasize of the story on his character to *actually make a good tragic ending* for him, it *seemed* that he became less relevant and always wrong, got sidelined and became a villain (which totally were not the case), only to be beaten like a little kid. it was really hideous. despite both mangas having similar outcomes, the executions made it have more nuances and unexpectedly better. it's funny because the edge was centered more on Athrun's POV, yet it did Shinn and Rey more justice than his own show. I'm very glad you love him as well, Shinn was my gateway to Gundam, am not gonna lie, even after watching several gundams(UC and AU included) he is still my favorite gundam character, and I want to share my love for him the way I envisioned it. though, some love and appreciation already existed even from back then, and this video I made is merely the emphasize of it.

I'm extremely happy for Gundam Seed Freedom. Not only did they give my boy Shinn an awesome redemption, but after watching it, I find myself liking Kira again. I've always felt like Kira's portrayal in Seed Destiny was terrible, so the fact that they course corrected both characters so well is a sign that they were probably listening to the fans :)
I felt exactly the same. Shinn will always be my favorite character, but in retrospective I understand that I never truly hated Kira, but rather his potrayal that the show made him seemed to be on a surface level; a character that can do no wrong and untouchable, at least thats how I felt the first time I watched it. now that they humanize Kira again and showed that he can also be imperfect and vulnerable cleaned the bad aftertaste in my mouth after watching SEED Destiny. the potrayal of Shinn's strength to be on his own and Kira's weakness along with his will to rely on the others really fleshed out the idea that genetic doesn't decide the future, something that felt empty to me when he preached during SEED Destiny.
@handa9233 Yeah, I always thought it was a shame because I really liked Kira in the og Gundam Seed, but I just couldn't stand him in GSD. But just like you said, in the movie they made him feel so much more human. Seeing him struggle with his doubts as well as struggling in battle made me root for him for the first time in ages XD
I had a vague memory of MSG, G Gundam, and Wing from my childhood when I was introduced to Shinn, Athrun, and Kira in Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. I disliked Kira and Lacus for their idealistic views. Athrun was alright, but he still followed Kira’s lead too closely in the game. Kira and Athrun’s Mobile Suits looked good to me. I like Shinn’s design and his Destiny Gundam. Shinn’s personality was good as well. What I saw in DWG2 was an arrogant and doubting pilot who transformed into a confident pilot, understanding why he fights, by the end of his story thanks to Kamille, Loran, and Lunamaria. At the end of his mission, he delivered some verbal smackdown to the self-righteous Kira and Athrun, leaving the duo speechless. So, with that background information, you can easily imagine my shock when I actually saw SEED Destiny for the first time. There was that arrogant pilot for about half of the show, but no confident character with his own reasons for fighting in the other half of the story, except for the uncertain, anxiety-ridden, PTSD-induced, and manipulated character called “Shinn.” He kept on acquiring negative traits one after another after the halfway point of the show. I don't mind those qualities if they get fixed, but they never did until Athrun defeated him, which is around the last episodes. I assume they were meant to be fixed, and if they were, it was the most stupid way to address those negative traits. But the thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that Strike Freedom was the poster boy in the openings, not Destiny Gundam, signaling to me that it is no longer Shinn’s story, but this self-righteous prick named Kira, once again. They really added salt to the wound with that one. I also watched SEED before SEED Destiny and didn't like Kira, but Athrun was really fleshed out, so he’s cool. I hate Lacus’ perfect personality to the point where I think she is evil. Rau and Mu basically carried the show for me. Unironically, I hate the Athhas. I could go on about SEED, but there’s no point. I saw the second trailer for the new SEED movie and sounded to me like Kira either became or is doing evil to me. I always thought it would be Lacus.

I would say its already done around 72%, all that left are mostly to fill the gaps, but I just haven't got the mood to finish it because it is one of my very detailed edit that I couldn't just finish on a whim, along with so many stuffs happening IRL. but I do still planning to finish it someday and will upload it once I do, but I'm just not sure when I would.

it was a reference to my favorite fanwork parody in niconico douga called "Orgagelion", basically Orga+evangelion, a gundam-evangelion crossover, where these gundam characters were thrown into the world of evangelion. you can check them out in niconico, the editings were so funny. in Orgagelion, basically Orga is the main character and he pilots the EVA unit 01, alongside Mika in Barbatos. aside the IBO characters, they include some SEED characters since they have some seiyuu references (like Misato-Murrue ramius, Kaworu-Athrun, Mari-Lunamaria, Mu's and Clotho's seiyuu are also present, especially when Clotho always call "Orga" from SEED, so it became a joke). from SEED Destiny, Shinn was somehow also put into the main casts. while Mika got paired with Asuka Langley, Shinn mostly got paired with Ayanami Rei (with the paralel that both Rei/Reys are also a clone), and Mari simply being a "wife" lol despite not directly involved in the main conflict. although the same seiyuu, the line I used for ayanami rei in the video wasn't actually hers, it was Ai Haibara/shiho Miyano from detective conan, with similar tone and context, I used the line for Shinn. well, Shinn might be has fireball personality, but in Orgagelion he usually spoke softly toward Rei, similar to how he treat Stella, so no problem on that lol. and yeah ww while Destiny may seem smol compared to EVA 00, only Shinn and Setsuna's units that have the after images ability(the one where Destiny disappear) among the gundams, so it is worth using

They're my two favorite Gundam protaganists, so I've been looking for games where they interact with one another.
Thank you! Actually, that line wasn't Domon's, but Yzak's from super robot wars Z, I tampered with them since they have the same VA. Though, the "this hand of mine is burning red" was from Shinn's burst attack combination with Domon from shin gundam musou. I'm planning to continue Gundam crossover 2 when I get the time centered on Shinn, I would say its around 60% by now, so there are still things to be come out. Please look forward to it!

This was a good tribute for an unappreciated Gundam character. While Shinn Asuka may not personally be my favorite Gundam protagonist as a whole or even somebody that means to me as much as other characters in the Gundam franchise.
However, I do find him more acceptable as both a pilot and a main character far more then I ever accepted Kira Yamato honestly...
One of my favorite roles of Kenichi (other then Shinn) would be Ryutaros from Kamen Rider Den-O
I discovered Ryutaros first before Shinn, so I was surprised that a character over the edge like Shinn has the same voice with the happy go lucky imagin lol. like you see in the video, Suzuken even make a remark of Shinn combined with Ryutaros. anyway thanks!

Finally, some love and appreciation for my man Shinn Asuka. Such a hated character more so for losing the final battle (being the biggest argument that people bring up). They threw his character development under a bus to just bring back the Kira and Athrun duo. Soooo much missed potential for Shinn and its very upsetting. It's very unpopular to like Shinn but I love him.
i'm not sure if you're implying that Shinn lost the final battle because he was hated, or that he was hated because he lost the final battle(gotta improve my english comprehesion), because if so, I don't think either were the case, especially the latter. actually I find the idea of Shinn losing to be very interesting and to be honest, could be actually better than him winning to convey a strong message. but... *not like that*
I might sorta understand what they were trying to pull and convey, but the way i see it something went wrong in the executions and the final product ended up being a disaster, and the impression that the audiences received wasn't as expected. instead of hammering the entire center focus and emphasize of the story on his character to *actually make a good tragic ending* for him, it *seemed* that he became less relevant and always wrong, got sidelined and became a villain (which totally were not the case), only to be beaten like a little kid. it was really hideous. despite both mangas having similar outcomes, the executions made it have more nuances and unexpectedly better. it's funny because the edge was centered more on Athrun's POV, yet it did Shinn and Rey more justice than his own show.
I'm very glad you love him as well, Shinn was my gateway to Gundam, am not gonna lie, even after watching several gundams(UC and AU included) he is still my favorite gundam character, and I want to share my love for him the way I envisioned it.
though, some love and appreciation already existed even from back then, and this video I made is merely the emphasize of it.

I'm extremely happy for Gundam Seed Freedom. Not only did they give my boy Shinn an awesome redemption, but after watching it, I find myself liking Kira again. I've always felt like Kira's portrayal in Seed Destiny was terrible, so the fact that they course corrected both characters so well is a sign that they were probably listening to the fans :)
I felt exactly the same. Shinn will always be my favorite character, but in retrospective I understand that I never truly hated Kira, but rather his potrayal that the show made him seemed to be on a surface level; a character that can do no wrong and untouchable, at least thats how I felt the first time I watched it. now that they humanize Kira again and showed that he can also be imperfect and vulnerable cleaned the bad aftertaste in my mouth after watching SEED Destiny. the potrayal of Shinn's strength to be on his own and Kira's weakness along with his will to rely on the others really fleshed out the idea that genetic doesn't decide the future, something that felt empty to me when he preached during SEED Destiny.
@handa9233 Yeah, I always thought it was a shame because I really liked Kira in the og Gundam Seed, but I just couldn't stand him in GSD. But just like you said, in the movie they made him feel so much more human. Seeing him struggle with his doubts as well as struggling in battle made me root for him for the first time in ages XD
I had a vague memory of MSG, G Gundam, and Wing from my childhood when I was introduced to Shinn, Athrun, and Kira in Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. I disliked Kira and Lacus for their idealistic views. Athrun was alright, but he still followed Kira’s lead too closely in the game. Kira and Athrun’s Mobile Suits looked good to me.
I like Shinn’s design and his Destiny Gundam. Shinn’s personality was good as well. What I saw in DWG2 was an arrogant and doubting pilot who transformed into a confident pilot, understanding why he fights, by the end of his story thanks to Kamille, Loran, and Lunamaria. At the end of his mission, he delivered some verbal smackdown to the self-righteous Kira and Athrun, leaving the duo speechless.
So, with that background information, you can easily imagine my shock when I actually saw SEED Destiny for the first time. There was that arrogant pilot for about half of the show, but no confident character with his own reasons for fighting in the other half of the story, except for the uncertain, anxiety-ridden, PTSD-induced, and manipulated character called “Shinn.” He kept on acquiring negative traits one after another after the halfway point of the show. I don't mind those qualities if they get fixed, but they never did until Athrun defeated him, which is around the last episodes. I assume they were meant to be fixed, and if they were, it was the most stupid way to address those negative traits.
But the thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that Strike Freedom was the poster boy in the openings, not Destiny Gundam, signaling to me that it is no longer Shinn’s story, but this self-righteous prick named Kira, once again. They really added salt to the wound with that one.
I also watched SEED before SEED Destiny and didn't like Kira, but Athrun was really fleshed out, so he’s cool. I hate Lacus’ perfect personality to the point where I think she is evil. Rau and Mu basically carried the show for me. Unironically, I hate the Athhas. I could go on about SEED, but there’s no point.
I saw the second trailer for the new SEED movie and sounded to me like Kira either became or is doing evil to me. I always thought it would be Lacus.

@@xeternalxeyesx so sorry I just saw this now, thanks! as for the editing, at the very least the climax scenes were already done, along with most of the main fight scenes. I would say its already done around 72%, all that left are mostly to fill the gaps, but I just haven't got the mood to finish it because it is one of my very detailed edit that I couldn't just finish on a whim, along with so many stuffs happening IRL. but I do still planning to finish it someday and will upload it once I do, but I'm just not sure when I would.

I like shinn as a character, because in my opinion he represented both the good and bad side of being a human (imperfect).
On a side note: The main protaganist of the gacha rpg game Last Cloudia is just Shinn but isekai'd as a goofy carefree swordsman named "Kyle"

it was a reference to my favorite fanwork parody in niconico douga called "Orgagelion", basically Orga+evangelion, a gundam-evangelion crossover, where these gundam characters were thrown into the world of evangelion. you can check them out in niconico, the editings were so funny.
in Orgagelion, basically Orga is the main character and he pilots the EVA unit 01, alongside Mika in Barbatos. aside the IBO characters, they include some SEED characters since they have some seiyuu references (like Misato-Murrue ramius, Kaworu-Athrun, Mari-Lunamaria, Mu's and Clotho's seiyuu are also present, especially when Clotho always call "Orga" from SEED, so it became a joke). from SEED Destiny, Shinn was somehow also put into the main casts. while Mika got paired with Asuka Langley, Shinn mostly got paired with Ayanami Rei (with the paralel that both Rei/Reys are also a clone), and Mari simply being a "wife" lol despite not directly involved in the main conflict.
although the same seiyuu, the line I used for ayanami rei in the video wasn't actually hers, it was Ai Haibara/shiho Miyano from detective conan, with similar tone and context, I used the line for Shinn.
well, Shinn might be has fireball personality, but in Orgagelion he usually spoke softly toward Rei, similar to how he treat Stella, so no problem on that lol.
and yeah ww while Destiny may seem smol compared to EVA 00, only Shinn and Setsuna's units that have the after images ability(the one where Destiny disappear) among the gundams, so it is worth using

It was combination of two parts:
1. "(Is that) the person who shot down Kira?" From EXVS game (full boost/maxi boost on)
2. "(Shinn Asuka-san) was it?" From HD remaster voice drama
I found your channel recently, and I love all the content with Shinn being my favorite Gundam character. If I may ask, where does that line where Domon and Shinn are interacting come from? At 1:52. They're my two favorite Gundam protaganists, so I've been looking for games where they interact with one another.

Actually, that line wasn't Domon's, but Yzak's from super robot wars Z, I tampered with them since they have the same VA. Though, the "this hand of mine is burning red" was from Shinn's burst attack combination with Domon from shin gundam musou.
I'm planning to continue Gundam crossover 2 when I get the time centered on Shinn, I would say its around 60% by now, so there are still things to be come out. Please look forward to it!
