Hey @Web Squadron. Sorry, but you made one big mistake. You CAN NOT deactivate Google Fonts. Elementor has the fonts NOT built in, it just loads the Google Fonts. If you still see the correct fonts you either didn't clear all caches, you've installed the font localy or you just didn't recognise that the fonts have changed to the defaults. You have to store the fonts on your host. Elementor has the function "Custom Fonts" for this. Also: If you set the caching plugin and the autoptimize to these strong settings, it may work on your example page, but it will kill more complex web pages mostly. JPG, PNG, WebP? That depends on the type of image. I use PNG a) for graphic elements and/or b) for images with transparencies. If you convert these images to JPG, you lose the transparency. In this case, you should convert directly from PNG to WebP. Nevertheless: Keep going! See you in the elementor community. 😉
Thanks so much. I did an updated page speed video a few weeks ago that addresses better tips. Do check it out as it’s more current for Wordpress standard :)
I do not use Elementor. I work mainly with the native Gutenberg. But I was curious what's gonna happen if I do exactly the same and remove Google fonts using the autoptimize plugin. I was convinced that will cause some serious trouble. So I uploaded a kadence online shop for testing and guess what...the shop was in perfect shape and the mobile score increased from 82 to 94. I was like....wtf.... Thanks a lot.
Hi Imran, new to the channel but I love what you’re creating. About this video; can’t believe it hasn’t exploded yet. This is what everyone wants 😁 Gonna try it out on some sites I have and see if I can get it to do the same.
Double check your site after removing Google Fonts and maybe upload fonts required. Hope it works well for you as it has for me and many others! Until I get this onto the news channels, it won't explode (but I'll keep my fingers crossed).
@@websquadron hmm sadly it didn't work out for me. The fonts weren't loading anymore and reverted to a standard font. Did you add the required WOFF and WOFF2 files to Elementor custom fonts before doing this? Or what step am I missing?
@@Michael_M We found no changes on our sites but some of that will be due to the fonts we use. If you are seeing 'revert to standard' then do upload the Fonts to Elementor.
2 years later you still use autoptimze or do you optimise by starting with gutenberg and building the blocks for speed? i see many use page builder and themes that are heavy load on the server and they sarcrifice on speed. What are your thoughts? i m lokking for a tutorial on gutenberg that starts from zero to designing a complete webpage in gutenberg using fast theme like astra and without using any extra bloatware. Also the disable lazy load part i like alot on autoptimize but what will be 4th image? and not each page has 4 images in the above the fold. How to fix this on a page per page scenario?
Love the content. I tried it out. Sadly I didn't get quite the results you've obtained. It only increased my mobile score from 38 to 47. Nonetheless, it's always nice to have another trick up your sleeves for the future.
Thank you for your suggestions. Just a friendly reminder. More plugin = issues. WP Rocket counts as 1 plugin while your wp site has 4 to do the same job. Redundancy is not what you need when it comes to performance on a WP website :) . Nice content though for smaller sites such as blogs etc.
My score actually improved with this method, but I encounter an issue with it. My pages font were jumbled, I dont know how to explain it but my pages fonts were re-arranged. I tried fixing it in Elementor but it didnt do a thing so I revert to original settings.
Yup, you don't need Google fonts unless you are purposely using custom fonts on your site. Fonts are built into browsers. 2 major types. San-Serif & Serif, that's it. If you're browsing on Chrome\Edge\Windows\Android you will view pages with Arial (san-serif) & Times New Roman (serif) fonts, if your on Mac/iPhone/Safari then you will view pages in Helvetica (sans-serif) & Times (serif). The font differences are nothing across different browsers to the untrained eye.
Wow!. for the first time I got a 97 score on desktop for my site. Mobile is still a work in progress though hitting 65. But this is insane. Thanks for this tutorial.
If your mobile is still below 70, then rerun several times as it could just be the host. And check the feedback on the page about Next Gen Images (convert to WebP). I often add smaller images for the Mobile version to increase page speed :)
Bro please help me. I have landing page. And I have code in “custom code” elementor. That code creates phone mask. But this mask only use on pop up form. How can I delay this js code till opening pop up?
Unfortunately did not work for me. Hosted fonts, since I have some variables, seems to be heavier to load than the requests to googlefonts. I lost almost 20 points on mobile, from orange to red!!. I'm forced to restore the previous settings.
I will try to explain what's wrong with nitropack in one sentence: Its core functionality is to "fool" page speed insights. It doesn't care for your website's user experience. If you are curious why it's something that you need to google to learn more. WP Rocket is the only way to improve your site's performance.
Have you a link to Google Expert who recommends it? Please do post the link, and also be sure that they are a verified Google Expert employed by Google. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, but NP's method of using a light page to trick the tests before your proper page is revealed says a lot.
@@websquadron No not at all. (No more than 5) A friend helped me and deleted cache. It goes quicker now. But I feel the web builder is slow from day 1. Everything takes so long to load. Takes long to save, long to go back and forth. Does google font fetching for example affect the builder speed itself?

Convert png to webp directly.
