I met Randy Orton when I was young since he lives in Wentzville, MO and his kids went to my middle/Highschool. I knew him as “Randy, my friends father”. Not until about 8th grade did I realize the immense wealth my friend lived in wasnt cause his dad was a lawyer or trainer or something, it was because the legendary “RKO OUTTA NO WHERE” WAS his father. It’s crazy that I never realized “my friends dad Randy”, whose house I’ve stayed at and seen many times, was the Randy Keith Orton. Amazing man, amazing sport, and above all the best dad I’ve seen for two step sons who he calls his own. I saw him one day at a “rock n jump” and he was wearing an Andre the Giant shirt. He hadn’t seen me for about three years now since his son and I didn’t hang out much anymore, but I walked up to him right after he had been bombarded with little teens asking for picks and stuff and he said “would you like a picture to” and I said “no I just wanted to say I love your shirt, nice to see people like real wrestling still” and he cracked up so hard. He realized who I was after, since he knew my voice, but it’s still great to be able to treat a celebrity like him as if he’s a normal dude cause to me, for 2 whole years, he was just a normal dude.
It is absolutely crazy to see the picture of young Randy and Cody and think that was 15 years ago. Holy cow. God bless these two and the longevity of their careers.
