As a Bengali I can say you're already a half-Bengali with the amount of food you eat, I still remember you said "I'm not really hungry" then ate a full buffet.

An average meal at my bengali household will include rice/roti, daal, atleast 2 types of sabzi (sometimes more) atleast one non-veg dish (can be fish/chicken/mutton/eggs) sometimes we have all if guests are coming over. then we typically have a sweet fruit pickle or maybe some gur or dessert (mishti or ice-cream.) And all of this is after already having had tea and snacks in the evening, like 2 hours before dinner. Muri chop, singhara (samosa) chanachur, nimki, bhujia. you name it. So, we do not flex neither do we exaggerate in any way. This is just a reflection of our eating habits. We tend to overeat.

And it does not bother them too much because i believe life in south asia for the average joe is much more easy than in most part of the world, probably due to easy access to natural resources and abundant nourishing vegetation. However what bothers me is educated, privileged, wealthy and locally powerful people from that region taking full undue credit of these basic natural facts of the world in various manners. One of the most despicable lot of people in the whole world outside sub-saharan african ugly elite class I feel.

Yes Dale, chowmein is offered to Mother Kali in that Temple but without onion-garlic. They do have a Hindu priest performing daily rituals as well as yearly traditions. The main proprietor a Chinese was living in America for many years but one night he dreamt that Mother Kali is asking him to come back saying that She resides here so why is he, Her son living so far away (Our tradition that children live with us). He kept getting these visions every night until he finally returned for good. This also cured his undiagnosed depression.

For $180 for this such amazing room really a steal. You cant find it at all for this price if u in NYC at cost you $1000 above. Your friends should've set their social media settings to private if they dont want other people to view their profiles. They can't blame the hotel staff for printing their photos, they made it public themselves. The gift is for them anyways. You really cant control people from checking or viewing your posts/photos if theyre public..it's like you leave it out there in the open, indirectly allowing people to view them.
Ghugni is curry made with yellow peas . Staple in West Bengal. Eaten with bread or puffed rice . Jain food is for people that follow Jaininsm ( one of many religions in India ) . It's vegetarian food but it's made without onion , garlic or anything that grows under the soil .

Even though the MeduWada is deep fried, the oil just stays on outside. The entire wada is made out of sprouted lenntils, which is even healthier than the Idli. 😊

I converted the Rupees to U.S. currency and it’s about $180. That sadly in the states is what Hampton charges for a standard room.
My wife is from the north east of India, so we always land in Kolkata and spend 1-2 days there before moving on, I will book us this hotel next time!
