Whoever segment producer James Stolz is, I salute you. Connie may have read the script, but I get the feeling this was a labor of love from someone in the background.
Saw them 4-5 times at Toad's Place in the 1980's...Wow!!!! Greatest live band I ever heard. And you always knew they were having a blast playing for people. Joyous, gifted, fun showmen...all of them. Unforgettable band.
Loved these guys ! Still do . I am a Picker and in Early 90's Al made list of Greates Guitarists of 20th Century. This was no easy feat as the Editors broke it down by not only genre but lots of X Factors . They said about Al ." He gobbles up styles from Chet to Chuck but on any given night nobody rocks harder 365 Days a year. "
About 20 years back, I caught the boys at a little place on Granville St., Vancouver. Terry had this funky, beat up trumpet, sitting on top of his keys, all show. For their encore, Tommy came forward, no drums & sang, the David/Bacharach composition, "This Guy's In Love With You". When they got to Herb Alpert's trumpet solo, everyone took a shot at the instrument, passing it full circle, back to Tommy, who played the lead...my sides and face were so sore from smiling & laughing, that the shear ecstasy almost killed me! Now that's how I wanna pass...thanks, Tommy!
I saw that line up three times, once in Atlanta (amazing) then in Princeton, NJ (also great) and then on New Years Eve in San Francisco with the horn section (epic). What a band!
This looks great and I miss the innocence of the times. Al quit,Tommy died, and Joey got sick. Terry is left leading a new band... interesting...should of done a She Sings We Play vol 2 with Connie lol! BTW Al wasn't kidding he did quit lol
Terry Adams in an Arby Q came through Dallas Back in 88 at the Dallas alley Boiler Room I was lucky to get to go see them it was free even anyway he signed a copy of their first album and so did Joey spam Pollito. My brother bought the album back in 1969 so it has been a part of my life since then. It is a killer record probably their best. John Sebastian says that he is a real good friend, of Terry Adams and that he even has a song called my buddy Terry. Very cool
"We could never change members, 'cause...I dunno...the whole thing would never work." Well, y'all proved the veracity of that statement...a coupla time since... Oh well; plenty of documentation of this version to enjoy!
It's great that the band was getting some well deserved recognition. IMHO, One thing missing though was their beginning and a mention of Steve Ferguson. Here's a home recording in Louisville from 1966; Early recording of Steve Ferguson and the Humanitarian's doing their "Outer Space Boogie"; and probably his last recording--with Terry Adams ruclips.net/video/PAhVZR-xZ-M/видео.html ruclips.net/video/u-aM7Sgll9I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/mCoehhWmEFw/видео.html
pit2ryan3 He means that the music industry and MTV were churning out homogenized food that's all the same with no flavor, no taste, and no cultural legitimacy. He's talking about music as corporate product that's a poor imitation of the "real thing" with no "nutritional value."
I heard “Flat Foot Flewzy” on WHCN/Hartford one night in late 1970 or early ‘71. I was 13. Haven’t been right since.😊
I have been following this band since the 80s. Love you guys. You can ride in my car anytime.

This Connie Chung Special kept me home on this Premier Night !! I still have & wear NRBQ Tee Shirts dating back from 1982 after high school.
Praise to Connie for doing a most intelligent mainstream story on a unique and idiosyncratic bunch of musicians.
The most underrated band in history. Their best lineup was Al, Terry, Joey and Tom.
Yes, but I can't complain about Scott, Casey & John. I just saw them over the weekend and they still throw down like only the Q can.
Used to bump into Terry in Brattleboro VT in the late 90’s. Been a fan since the early 70’s❤️
You might add that Big Al Anderson is named one of the top 100 guitar players ever.
I cannot tell you all how much I love and have loved NRBQ from my dancing feet to my sing songing head...…….
The drummer acting shy in the hotel is hysterical. LOVE these guys!
I miss this version of the band. Geniuses. All of them.

Best live band ever! Miss Tommy Ardolino.

Omg the puppies- If I Don’t Have You… miss these guys. Seen em a bunch.
Wow, I was at that Austin show at Liberty Lunch. Great stuff.
What a band, man. Scraps is a classic.
This was the golden age of NRBQ , mid 70's to the mid 90's ..
ridin in my car, one of the top ten songs ever written
Yep.
I agree
Such a joyous band!
I remember seeing them for the first time at the Rocking Horse Ranch in upstate NY for my senior picnic!
I saw that line up three times, once in Atlanta (amazing) then in Princeton, NJ (also great) and then on New Years Eve in San Francisco with the horn section (epic). What a band!
this is how I remember them... damn they were fun
"Connie, this week, you will be interviewing NRQB."
Connie: "The what?"
Four letters and you spelled it wrong. Are you drinking mate? Cheers! ;-)
Grew up in Poughkeepsie NY saw them many times there and saw them here in Atlanta many times. What a great band!
This was great! Will always remember the night they played same bill with Frijid Pink!
Frijid Pink!!! Holy fuck! I' m having a flashback!!
NRBQ also stood for New Rocka Billy Quartet or the 4 New York Subway Lines that stop at Carnegie Hall, the N, R, B and the Q.
Connie Chung is a SAVAGE with that first line..
Great band. I saw them many times in CT.
Love them from 1975 till now!
Talk about awesome this group & intro was on point.
Really love this ❤
used to play them a lot on 'HFS. great band.
HFS in the day was it.
Used to be an amazing radio station yeah. Great festival concerts too. That really wasn't so long ago. Our country went to hell really quick.
Man that just pulls on my heart.
This looks great and I miss the innocence of the times. Al quit,Tommy died, and Joey got sick. Terry is left leading a new band... interesting...should of done a She Sings We Play vol 2 with Connie lol! BTW Al wasn't kidding he did quit lol
Al went on to write a lot of hits for other big name acts.
Great Band, Great host! Thanks for putting this up!
thanks for posting this..... long live the Q, old AND new!!!!
Love the song they did with Lou Albano! Always puts a smile on my face.

thanks so much for posting this. really appreciate it!
Thanks for sharing.
Love ‘em! Underrated but just so damn fun.
NRBQ will be musically relevant thru their great recordings. While MTV will only be remembered for the reality-show crap they peddle!
Nice - good to see! ... my fave song in it, Little Floater.
Ain't that a great and cool underrated Classic. If you like that try " Shake Some Action " by the Flamin Groovies .
Love love love that song!
The only Q worthy of anyone's attention.
rest in peace tommy
"We could never change members, 'cause...I dunno...the whole thing would never work." Well, y'all proved the veracity of that statement...a coupla time since... Oh well; plenty of documentation of this version to enjoy!

would you like another White Wine Spritzer, Sir?
I kinda like The Beatles but this is my favorite band.
Connie Chung is Nigel Tufnell!
not that cool
this is so spinal tap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely Nigel Tufnel - except Tufnel didn't behave as oafishly as this guy does here in this video!
Can anyone tell me the name of the song at 5:56 ? would appreciate it ! Thanks!
+Chester Atkins "Little Floater" from the "Wild Weekend" album.
i think he means that he believes the world has become corporate and homogenized. Theres no special, regional, sound.
Those Vision Street Wear sneakers at 8:12
At 02.03 Al Anderson says (or at least I think he does) "One big Taco Bell" ... What does it mean ?
pit2ryan3 He means that the music industry and MTV were churning out homogenized food that's all the same with no flavor, no taste, and no cultural legitimacy. He's talking about music as corporate product that's a poor imitation of the "real thing" with no "nutritional value."
How about that Jerry Lee piano boogie ✌😁👍
@WesJohnson thanks!

Not a chance, sadly.
