That's terrible!!! I'm sorry this happened to you. Legitimate freelancers have a hard time garnering work because of scammers like this which is ridiculous. Watch out y'all!!
I’m so sorry you had to deal with this especially being a new mom! Reading an updated comment from you, I’m glad that it has finally been fixed. I’ve seen so many scammers, but not in this way. It was definitely copyright infringement. What’s even worse is that with AI, I can only image that it will get worse. We all need to be aware of this. Thank you for your information!❤
These accounts are everywhere. It is really annoying when scam accounts like these pop into comments or messages. I'm glad that the matter has been settled ^^
I am sorry you have experienced this. My sister faced a similar situation, and unfortunately no matter how many times we reported it to facebook, it was not removed at the time. This is all too common and seems it is very difficult, especially on facebook to get fake profiles taken down, so these scammers are having a frenzy on this platform.
As an author and publisher, I share your feelings. A while back a similar thing happened to me and my organization. We had a group of Nigerians pretending to be our organization to scam people out of money. Fortunately they messed up and chose to do this with an organization that is highly recognized in our field and we were able to shut them down. My recommendation is not to hold back when exposing such fraudsters but expose every detail of them including their names and who they may have impersonated in the past. The goal being to fully remove their ability to simply change their accounts and do this to other people. I personally love your videos and find them great sources of information. Please don't be put off by this, as it is a sign of your success. Keep up the great videos. We know who is the real deal out here in authors land. And who the hucksters are.
THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING ON THIS TOPIC!!!! I shared this video on my twitter acct. I hope you can fight those scammers in some legal way, get them shut down! Let me know if I can help in some way. 🙂
That is creepy! Thanks for the tips on scammers. I think the FB page got taken down. If I see anything suspicious with your name I will definitely report it. Geez….that is just awful.
Scammers are everywhere now including the literacy world, they are so full of it. You need to expose them, they are a right pain. I call out so many all the time, thier bs format for a start. You know when it is bad when they become invasive in the first place. I have had top profiles with huge profiles doing this too. It is crazy....heck, even those who claimed to work long term in Penguin Random House. The awareness is rising, but people are still being caught out.
God that fucking sucks! I'll never understand how people can do this and see it as just needing an "IN" for themselves, that doesn't suddenly make it okay to impersonate and profit from the presence someone else has put the effort into making! 😠
I can’t seem to find an answer to this question anywhere…. I’m having a book signing at my local B&N. I’m needing to order my book in bulk to bring with me. If I order it from B&N press (at cost) will it have that “not for resale” strip across the front???
First so sorry this has happened. It’s maybe a scam if someone buys into it but for you this is fraud! Contact an attorney. Hopefully they can help. Usually you get one free question for advice. ( Look for attorneys who do specialize in this area.) This is a fraud that is attempting or could ruin your good name and reputation! It’s important that this is addressed. I will look for it and report on Social Media! Good for Meta Verified!
I usded to work for a very well known artist. I came across a scam using this artist image. So I contacted a attorney who delalt with copyrights . He was able to create a cease and disist letter, It ended immediatly. Aloha
I'm sorry this happened to you. I imagine it's also been a waste of your precious time too - rectifying these things can be so time consuming. I also feel for anyone who got scammed by it. Geez people just keep coming up with new ways to scam folk online don't they!
I'm sorry you had scammers do this to you. Facebook, Instagram and other websites should disclose their information to the police, so that the criminals involved can hopefully be taken down.
Hi Mandy has this affected any of your online courses? Im wanting to enrol on one of your cover design ones in next few months. I'm just starting out and written my first book. I think It's disgusting people steel other peoples name and reputation because they can't be bothered to put in the work themselves. 😡
Scammers don't care, they do it for clout, fraud and whatever, reasoning with them don't work. They just move onto something or someone else. It is crazy, they make the internet unsafe. They are a pain, they are everywhere
That's really creepy to be honest. I've watched you for many years and I'm sorry someone is so bored to impersonate. I guess they really want to be you. Good lawsuit right there!!
Not sure who they are? Keep talking to them, ask questions, look at thier page, website, thier previous success, the list of books/authors they have, how long they been there, thier certificates, thier education, how long they been doing it. Of course, you will start seeing how sucky they can be. Thier opening format/AI stuff will disappear and they either can't sentences together, or repeat themselves. Or if they try to convince you, watch thier tones. They hate being questioned and if they want you in a DM, or onto another site, you know for sure, it isn't good. Nobody good is toing to randomly DM you for no reason. I have pissed off so many scammers because of my endless round of interviews. It is pretty funny watching them rage about it...and in fact, I had one call me out on twitter the other day. Thier ''hard work'' was ruined because of my constant questioning left them traumatised. Not only that, the comment section was flooded by bots saying the exact same thing. It is always good to know other fields, it helps to keep you safe
Happy to report the profile has officially been taken down! Please make sure to do your research when hiring freelancers.
Yayyy! I’m glad to hear this news!
So glad it's been taken down now! I reported as much as I could when I came across it.

Because the real scammers somehow never violate Facebook's "community standards," yet those of us who report them are persona non gratis.

This happened to a friend of mine on Facebook. The way she motivated Facebook to move faster is to cite copyright violations.
Noted. I’ll give that a shot!

Unfortunately the Facebook page is still up and using my logo as their cover photo and saying they work with me
@@MandiLynnWrites Oh it is? I will go look again.

Mandi, that is creepy and frightening that someone would use your name, likeness, and business's name and likeness to scam people!
God that fucking sucks! I'll never understand how people can do this and see it as just needing an "IN" for themselves, that doesn't suddenly make it okay to impersonate and profit from the presence someone else has put the effort into making! 😠
It's disgusting what some people try to get away with.
Glad to hear you got their posts taken down.
You can file lawsuit against Facebook.
A scammer tried to use my Facebook with my picture without my permission. My friend report it for me. I also report it too.
This totally sucks!! I'm sorry this happened to you.
So sorry you go through that it’s terrible
I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.

It's sad Facebook does not care much about helping clean up these situations.
They can prevent these things. They could act swiftly but....

F them. Keep moving forward.
I don't understand how people are falling for this stuff. I really don't.
Thank you for all your lessons. I have learned so much. Akerace Drill.
That’s awful!
Good that the profile has taken down! But you should consider legal actions as this person likely will appear again. And it was fraud!
Yikes!

How can I hire you to create my book cover?
People are such acting it up likes a Little Babies!
