I built this in a cave, and at first i was a bit confused on why I couldn't plant seeds, but turns out it's because the seeds require a certain light level. So if you're having this issue just place some torches/glowstone around

I’m so surprised that something from 2 years ago actually works I remember using this vid 2 years ago with my friends and this is just really simple and good to use
This is such a simple design it would have worked since they implemented dispensers and hoppers. And unless there is a major change to crops or Redstone it will continue to work forever.

I highly doubt they'd be making this comment if that was the fix. I'm having the same problem and I used two different methods on trying to get this farm to work @user-jb2wo5zg4p
That would be more efficient with only 1 hopper. Put the hopper into the chest, and put water at the opposite end to wash the crops to the hopper. I did it this way on several old worlds. CUrrently looking to automate with a villager, so I'll keep looking. Great no-villager design though. If you have an item with an enchantment, you can greatly increase your crop yield.
It's been a year, but the tutorial still holds up! Good stuff and props to you for keeping it short yet understandable with all the items listed for that farm.
Thank you for being so clear with your instructions! I built this farm up in the air and it works perfectly! All I have to do now is wait for the crops to grow :)
Dude that next update with the auto-crafter is going to make this so much more effective!. Thanks for making this video, I’ve been having a lot of water leaks in my previous auto farm builds😅
That awkward moment when it would be easier to just harvest your crops manually than to gather all the materials to build this entire set-up. Especially when you have to plant the seeds manually either way. Still cool that you can make something like this though.
Lol yeah. I’m really far in my Minecraft world, so I already had all the materials. I think this farm is better if your already far off and are just too lazy to farm everything yourself. I like it because planting the seeds isn’t that bad (in my opinion lol)
For anyone whose redstone isn’t working, just make a line of redstone from the button all the way to the 7 redstone on the dispensers! Just make sure to mix in a few repeaters in there so the line goes all the way and you might have to use a bit more blocks and redstone 👍
Just saying great video, but horrible explanation of the red stone repeaters. As soon as I place them, the water instantly went, and I can’t stop it unless I put a block in front of the dispensers.
Wonderful build very similar one I just recently built can’t figure out what I did wrong swap the extractors for upside down pistons that carry the water
Here’s a tip if you’re playing the world that’s not peaceful mode you might want to put glass above it so that zombies and creepers don’t explode your build
As a veteran minecraft hardcore player, I don't suggest to use this. You can make this farm fully automatic with villagers that are moved to their positions via rail systems. Otherwise, you have to plant them one by one, which therefore doesn't make any sense, you can harvest them using fortune hoe instead to get better results
As a veteran that also plays, play how ever you want. You don't need to rush villagers to farm, also fortune only effects potatoes and carrots, if you use it on wheat or beetroot it'll only give extra seeds, unless you want extra seeds?
thank youu so much, I made this for a potato farm since I was breeding villagers and running out of food at the same time, I used trapdoors instead of dispensers and redstone at the top of blocks instead of messing around at the bottom List of materials I needed - 12 trapdoors 3 stacks stone 37 redstone 2 repeaters 10 water sources 11 hoppers 2 chests Thats itt
In the place ''instead of droppers and Redstone'' you can write dispensers because dropper will drop the water bucket out instead of just flowing it out
I tried this on a smaller scale (two layers) and it worked, needed to shrink it down because I could only fit two in the amount I had, so I improvised with the redstone as well
little tip for those without much resources: you actually only need 2 repeaters. craft a lever and mess around with repeater placements and you will find only 2 are needed
Thank you for being so clear with your instructions! I have been looking for clear instructions for a farm like this for days and it works perfectly! Im a complete redstone noob and I had zero problems following this.

I had the same problem, but finally got it working correctly. Do everything he did in the video exactly, but before turning button on, make sure both redstone repeaters levers are cranked all the way. Then it should work like a dream

@@mkeefe4248 hmm that is better earlier on for sure. I just like golden carrots since you get so much gold when mining netherite and baked potatoes for xp.
