@ Kelly Werre Warner Brothers cut 25 minutes out before they offered it to CBS network, CBS then cut additional 11 minutes, grand total 36 minutes gone.
@@ziloj-perezivat The uncut movie was on RUclips, but I see it now missing, keep checking every 6 to 9 months it could resurface. 2/28/1972 it aired heavy edited on CBS Late Movie it caused such a uproar many local CBS stations didn't carry the movie. I was in 12th grade @ the time I slipped into the den & cut the tv on but @ last minute local CBS station chicken out didn't show it. On 2/28/2011 39 years later I watched it on NetFlix, then last year I watched it again on RUclips.
Who shall forget Dirk Bogarde surrounded by Hitler Youth dressed not in brown but in suspender belts. Wir wollen weiter marschieren.Visconti had a fruitful imagination.
I nocited that too. Helmut Griem who plays the SS guy the bribes Helmut Berger's character to sell out his family, is also in Cabaret. I love the fact this movie has nice looking German men both naked or clothed, and Visconti always put delicious male eye candy in all of his films.
Watch Death in Venice ! He went to the other extreme - shots that lingered....and lingered....and... several hours passed and you opened your eyes to discover that you were still looking at the same shot : normally a C U of Tadzio .
Damned nazy art movies ! they're really shit but you have to watch one till the end to see that in the end shit is all those times were 😥 but what can you do maybe it's just Art
Decent movie. Probably best known for portraying the utter depravity of Nazi Fascism, the cinematography and acting is solid. Unfortunately the main character, Martin, is the least likeable character in the entire film. Although I suppose that is the point, the worst person is the one who eventually rises to power. Just made for an uncomfortable watch. I enjoyed other anti Fascist films more particularly Night Porter and the Conformist.
It’s a Satire !!! Like we don’t do anymore nowadays! Great !🎉
Great film to take the kids to see on a slow Saturday afternoon...
I had my grandmother watch it, and she hated it. I probably have watched this film so many times, I can actually quote many lines in it.
Fun for the whole Manson family!
I prefer watch it in a Friday night
Coin toss between that and The Sound of Music.
@@phillipecook3227 Breaks into song... "The Hills have Eyes... with the Sound of Music...."
Loved Charlotte Rampling in it. Great movie.
Cinema was actually Meant to be like this!
One of those must-see movies that is profoundly unpleasant and disturbing.
I love the maniacal background track. They should have used it more in the film.
This movie looks crazy! I came here because I love Ingrid Thulin in Bergman movies.
0:21, He is Helmut Berger!!! So amazing!!!!
First X-rated movie to play on American network television - edited, of course

@@strangerintown3676 Is the uncut film available?

Produced in the days when art was valued above profits.
You clearly didn't study film history
LOL They totally made this movie with X-rated profits in mind!
While that’s a cute and pithy little applause line you wrote there, that’s not fucking true at all, lol.
Visconti was a provocative filmmaker. Who rebelled against the political aristocracy.
Based on the German Krupp family.
The Sound of Music ( based on the Von Trapp family ) was probably more historically accurate than this hysterical
S /M wet dream version of Nazism.
Fun for the whole [Manson] family!

... epic flic!
Great movie
This looks bananas 🍌….. I want it
Tarantino brought me here.
Is it known outside Germany, that Visconti got the idea for the film because of the “Familie Krupp”❓❓
Helmut Berger has a funny voice. He sounds a bit like Joel Grey in "Cabaret" ;P

The Hitler Youth arrayed in suspender belts singing Die morschen Knochen . I ask you.
What a dirt! Gladly i can’t remember That dirt in German Television!
Luchino Visconti or how to make cinema when the only thing you can do is zooming.
Yes, he was a little zoomy with this one.

A very sad and weird film...
what the hell?
Yes, it's a little bit like hell.
a bit like the fight for the leadership of UKIP :-)

I LIKE Martin!
Its like an old Bond movie
GERMAN
A movie made by a Communist about how Fascists are "degenerates"? The *pot* calling the *kettle* black. _What a joke!_ 🙄
But it is true!!!!!
Totally overrated movie. Not worth spending 2 hours.
