I was getting 8 to 9 miles per gallon after I lifted my jeep and put 37 inch tire on .what I did was regearing and changing my intake to cold air intake and also every 3 months use dumping a fuel injector cleaner to the tank and now I'm getting 16.5 miles per gallon than what I was getting was 8 miles per gallon!
With oversized tires, tire pressure plays a huge difference in MPG performance. Chalk test your tires for both even wear and optimal pressure for the best economy.
I own 2 jeep and hate hate hate when people say this. Same thing people use to say when I have a big truck but in all honesty why wouldn't anyone want the best economy you could at all times. More money at end of month means more parts we can buy. So if I could save 2mpg then wtf would I or you not??
I had a choice of a wrangler or Silverado. The wrangler is what I really wanted but the mpg made my decision quick!!! I bet a dump truck gets better mileage than a wrangler
Hmmm, I didn't know that changing the gear ratio will give you better mpg, what if you have a stalk jkl & you upgrade the gear ratio. Will it give you even better mpg with not putting bigger tires & a lift & keeping it stalk? just out of curiosity
Once you go past 35 inch tires you really should change your gear ratio in your differentials. It will give you more low end power but it will lessen TopSpeed. But it will give you smoother highway traveling and not always searching for down shifts. It really depends on your driving style. You are lucky to be getting 15 hwy and 13 combine once lifted with 35” or 37” tires.
How the hell were you getting 20 mpg in the first place? I got a 2018 jku with stock 265-70r17 and the best I’ve got was 16.4 mpg. No mods on outside and I don’t drive like an asshole. Is it generally highway miles and/ or very flat where you live?
My 2008 four door Jk averaged 15 mpg before mods and after many mods is getting 11-14 mpg I really don’t know how he was getting 20+ mpg😂 lucky wrangler
I'm getting 19.5 mpg average. 120k miles. Stock ride height, 33" tires. Stock gear ratio. I have a cheapo cold air intake, cheapo catback exhaust. Amazon metal hood latches. (That's to make mpg better) but I also have a steel front and rear bumper (to make it worse) for weight reduction, my jeep refuses to keep the oil inside the engine, but prefers it to be on the ground.

If your worried about fuel mileage, dont buy a jeep and put bigger tires on it. I think 16mpg is good.

Wonder if the hood trick will work on the gladiator
Bug shield takes care of hood flutter. I put a Rugged Ridge bug shield on my JKU. Took care of it 100%, and it looks great.
Does it actually help with bugs?
You need an IDrive! I got one and my JK is completely amazing to drive! Plus better gas mileage!
Not really I’m always using U9 and it’s terrible for my mpg lol
You either want big tires with increased road friction or good fuel mileage. Cannot have both.
Spare tire delete kit is number 1.
The gearing is what robs the most mpg
Use pedel commander , that should make the jeep snappy
Did you program your new tire size into the jeeps computer?? If not, you are getting false readings.
man I just bought a brand new jeep wrangler jl 3 door , it gets horrible mpg , I get 6-7 mpgs without even pushing the car
Something is wrong. My 2019 2 door gets 34mpg with 32" tires and dropped to 29mpg with 34"
