    Star Trek fans delivered something that Star Wars fans didn't get, we got an onscreen reunion, an epic send off with the TNG crew, but sadly we didn't with Han, Luke, Leia in the SW sequel trilogy

      Star Wars and Star Trek may have been different, but at their peaks in the 80s/90s they were some of the best film you could get. It’s just a shame they both fell so hard from grace. Season 3 of Picard is hopefully a lightning bolt reminder to Bad Robot (and everyone in the entertainment industry) on how to revitalise a franchise. If not, at least this season still happened.

      @@akiraaviation8577 Honestly the Kelvin films did revitalise the franchise. The popularity of those films were what spurred the creation of Discovery, Picard, SNW and more! Especially for the younger generations, like the Gen Z (which I'm part of), we grew up watching 2009, Into Darkness and Beyond. The same can be said for the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Whether those films were good, however, can be disputed, but the fact is they brought a lot more new people into the franchises to keep the flame alive

      @@axel4196 I think the problem is that the first two seasons so absolutely poisoned the fans against the series, that it took a hell of a lot of convincing for us to come back and give season 3 a chance and I am glad I did

      @@weldonwin Strongly agree. I wasn't too crazy about the first couple of seasons. Season 3 was the best! I also noticed that Q is back (awesome!). I thought he was dead. How? Why?

      @weldonwin Год назад +1

      @@axel4196 As he said himself "Oh and here I thought the new generation wouldn't think so linear" and frankly, that is actually a good explanation, considering that for Q, time-travel is a casual party trick and that Q coming to the end of his life is something that may not actually occur for millions of years into the actual future

    • @kees1782
      @kees1782 Год назад

      @@weldonwin Season 2 was fine as well. Season 1 could be told in 2 episodes. TNG ended with a sick Picard that impaired him from continuing his work as captain/admiral. That had to be covered for continuation of the story.
      People who say only Season 3 was good are just conservative autistic dillweeds. Especially if you try to cancel culture it on rating websites.

    4:34 - 5:55 The perfect ending for "Picard" and TNG crew's adventure: Seeing them playing a card game like in TNG's "All Good Things" with end credits rolling and the TNG theme overheard in the background.

    A tribute to the late Jerry Goldsmith using his march; also a tribute to the late James Horner if he also conducted a TNG-era score for *Star Trek*

    • @stephenbland2111
      @stephenbland2111 Год назад +2

      James Horner never composed music for TNG, but there are some familiar riffs that Horner would have used. He was no stranger to Star Trek, having composed music for ST 2 and 3. Let us not forget, that the TNG themes were based on the orignal score from Star Trek the Motion Picture.

  • @jjgillmen

    I truly love this. This is how a proper Star Trek score should be done. In a way, I can describe each individual movement as follows:
    0:00 - Picard and Co. celebrate their final adventure together over a game of poker. You can imagine yourself gazing out into the stars as we build into...
    1:05 - The classic Jerry Goldsmith theme plays, paying tribute to the adventures of crews that have long since passed.
    (CUE GOES HERE) - The first 57 seconds of "A New Day" from the Season 3 soundtrack -- Jerry Goldsmith would often use a quiet interlude after the first iteration of the TMP theme. This movement would symbolize the harrowing adventures and battles the old guard had experienced together not just as a crew, but as a family.
    2:08 - The next generation of eager, fresh-faced Starfleet officers is ready to take the mantle from their predecessors and forge their own legacy.
    (CUE GOES HERE) - A "battle theme" from the Season 3 soundtrack, as both old and new combine forces to end the Borg once and for all and prevent them from destroying Earth and the galaxy. Builds solidly into the next cue...
    3:30 - The bridge between the old and the new is complete, as one captain's story (Picard's) comes full circle and another's (Seven of Nine) dream has just been realized.
    4:30 - Reprising the Goldsmith theme, the new crew of the USS Enterprise-G heads out on their first shakedown cruise as a family -- while honoring the legacy of the men and women who came before them.

But the theme for Titan-A has pulled my heart strings.... 😍😍😍

    Where Star Wars failed miserably, Star Trek Picard: Season 3 totally succeeded

      Oh we can cherry pick seasons? Okay. Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 were very enjoyable, and it should have ended there. Luke and Artoo leaving with Grogu, the door shuts, cut to black. Done. That would have been perfect. Completely deleting Picard seasons 1 and 2 and keeping 3 also very good. My main issue with Picard season 3 applies to all new "Trek", and that is that the writers have no idea that warp speed and hyperspace are two completely different things and set different tones. In Star Wars you can buy consumer and commercial ships that can take you across the known galaxy in a couple of months from end to end. In Star Trek it's a lot slower - like if it had taken Voyager 76 years to get home on its own that would have been at maximum warp - 9.somthing. At warp 6, her actual cruising speed, it would have taken centuries. And that's okay, the point of Star Trek is to be isolated far from home with only your ship and crewmates, with help being weeks away (if they get your signal at all). Different vibe, but that's the point - different vibe. In Picard they travel to a different star system in a shuttlecraft in what seems like hours - heck no that's not how that works in Trek!
