Pile 1: Your read is very accurate. I don't know if this is my soul mate but I gotta follow the pull you're describing. 5 years of knowing this person but only did I learn in the last 2 years during separation that I felt incomplete and an indescribable chemistry with them unlike anyone else (trust me, i've tried to move on)

He and I bonded over electronic (very alien sounding) music and that has been HUGE for us. We wanted to start making it (so huge sync there). Ive even been making references to a spider's web lately...I feel like I wove it and then became caught. It has always felt like this game between us. Like we both knew what was up (even discussed the mutual attraction once early on in the friendship, deciding we would just put it on hold and go on as usual) The "game" became too serious bc neither of us ever got "ready" but I finally admitted my feelings regardless, because I couldn't stand the unspoken agreement any longer and wanted it out, even if we couldn't get together right then and there. He denied reciprocating verbally, but still expressed wanting to cuddle, hold hands, etc, which we had hardly done before (but the little it did happen, sparks in the air every time). I guess under the guise of "gay friend" still. Like he wanted to keep his mask on while beginning to explore us together in a more innocent way. But I was over being the "just best friend" bc as such he didn't give me the priority I felt I deserved and I often got hurt.
Then I became tired of the game, and sent a very long text about how much he has let me down and how i dont know if i can risk that again. I had held back saying all that for a long time. It was pointed and harsh. Never got a text back. It has been over a year.
Even the fox is a significant symbol in our relationship. 👏👏👏
In summary...it was like we were constantly seducing each other via our minds, convos, vibes...but we were both too scared and blocked to let it go anywhere so it was very frustrating for us both. But we could give each other a knowing look, and both understand the anguish.
