- These are scenes from the final crossover episode of ANOTHER WORLD..before Texas began. Just a little bit of The Beginning to wet your appetite.
NOTE.....I only have the one crossover episode, so please don't ask for scenes from the other ones.
Thank you for sharing this with us theses shows were classic I loved Beverly mckinsey . So classy and gracious.
i remember it quite well. i really enjoyed watching both soaps, another world and texas. i miss them both!! love, susie q
How I miss The beautiful. Beverly Mckinsey.such A great loss this bring tears to my eyes such A classy actress and talented Her passing was sad. Luv u Beverly.
My dad, who knows absolutely nothing about soaps, walked through the living room one day during one of her Alexandra Spaulding scenes. He said, "Boy, she's good."
I know this has nothing to do with the clip, but my heart stopped when it ended with that partial close with the AW logo and that classic theme. Both are just so beautiful they literally take my breath away. Call me crazy, but a great part of the whole daytime experience back then for me was to be able to witness these great show closings. They were simply masterpieces!
Yes! Me too! The closing of One Life to Live right before Dark Shadows started next...It still haunts me over 50 years later.
Thanks for watching and glad you are enjoying the clips.
I always love the theme music for Another World.
Classy. Until they went all jazzy with it.
Scott - A million thanks. So good to have this archived here. I look forward to seeing additional scenes from the first few episodes, particularly the yacht reunion between Iris and Alex. The farewells between Beverlee McKinsey, Douglass Watson (Mac) and Paul Stevens (Brian Bancroft) in Texas episode 13 are also must-adds.
Thanks Scott. There are also some amazing scenes between the late Elizabeth Allen as Vicki with Carla Borelli's Reena in the first 30 or so episodes.
No worries Derek, and keep watching. I am trying my hardest to get these clips up for everyone to enjoy. I am hoping the earlier stuff is going to be popular since those episodes are hard to find now. If indeed they are popular, I will continue posting. If not, I may just concentrate on the recent episodes that get released. We'll see.
I love that show
I loved Texas, ruby and Lurlene were my all time faves
@denzo30 If "Texas" had been blessed with a writer of Lemay's caliber, Iris & Alex could have been this show's Mac & Rachel without Iris being softened or losing her edge. In the same way that Lemay gave the traditional soap triangle a twist by making the "other woman" Mac's daughter, Alex could have been torn between the Iris he fell in love with so many years ago and the woman that Iris had become in the subsequent years.
I loved this Iris Carrington the best.
@albertelyons It's hard to say if making better use of Iris & Alex as the show's core couple would have made a difference in the success of "Texas" considering it was up against Luke & Laura-mania, or if it would have made any difference in Beverlee McKinsey's decision to leave the show. To me, "Texas" was very special but came to be a series of missed opportunities, and wasting Iris & Alex was the most prominent of those missed opportunities.
Seems like she overshadowed him to me. A stronger actor might have worked. She literally commanded the screen.
Even as a little boy at the age of eight or nine I knew that Beverly McKenzie was very beautiful and charismatic as an actress. The way she looks in the piece she would definitely qualify today in 2016 as a sexy cougar with an air of snobbishness.
I was 13 and knew she was something as Iris on Another World.
Yes. Pool boys, stable boys...
That was toward the end of the series!
It is nowhere to be found, gone for 30 years
Phillip Clark played Ryan Conner
Did you cut off the opening scenes? "today on another world" with that great, suspenseful music? I thought they ran these the entire time AW was 90 minutes, which was up to the day Texas began. Right? Oh.if you have them, post them please!!!
I started watching Texas after she left but I loved it. My favorite was Ashley.
@albertelyons They hinted at this a few times but didn't see it through, and it didn't help that Bert Kramer was no Douglas Watson. So, instead of recasting, they resorted to lazy writing and killed Alex off so they could bring back the Iris everyone loved to hate. (IMHO, the whole "Ryan killed Alex" storyline diminished Iris ... but that's another rant.) The big problem with killing Alex off was that, without Alex, there was nothing to logically keep Iris in Houston.
I wish I could find it
Does anyone one remember a few episodes when they were in a cave called hytopha and there was a little puzzle box ?
I actually felt sorry for Iris. She was her own worst enemy. She wanted love-the problem was her way of achieving it.
Who's the actor that played Ryan
A softer Iris moved to Texas ... Ratings got her nasty ish again though, eventually, before BM left the show.
Is that Donna Pescow from A show called Angie
Iris. What a gal
Bert Kramer had to have been one of the weakest actors ever in daytime. That alone all but ruined the whole motivation for Iris to move to Houston. The wonderful Donald May appears in the series the next year although not as a love interest for Iris. I often wonder if May had been offered the role opposite Beverlee before Texas began, multiple Edge of Night fans would have tuned in. May had great power/charisma on the screen and would have given a reason for Iris to fall in love with his character all those years later. As always with classic soaps of old, the backstage stories were probably more interesting than those on the screen!
David Creelman I interviewed Donald May a few years ago, he didn’t mention if he was going to play a live interest to Iris. He said P&G contacted him and wanted him for “Texas” on his own terms. His love interest on the show became his real life wife Carla Borelli (Reena).
