    There is always a reason for the price of the paper. Maybe you can gesso it and tint it with a lighter brown. I love the “need art that self-destructs in 5 weeks” 🤣 I’ve had a few! Thanks for the heads up on the markers. “Wonderlands” looks beautiful, I’m going to check it out now. Thank you for sharing this wonderful art haul, I’ll be watching it again. I love the personal touches about the likes and dislikes of the supplies. Your written comments were delightful and appreciated. But anytime you want to talk about your supplies, I’ll be here to listen, learn and enjoy! Thank you from my mountain top in middle Tennessee where the hilltops kiss the Spring sky thankfully for the beautiful life giving sunshine 🌞 and rain. Fran

      Finally Fran, someone gets my mission impossible joke 🤣 My jokes are few and far between, I have to make them count! Wonderlands is amazing in hand. Ingpen's other book "The Magic Bookcase" is in a similar vein and may be worth a look. Your location sounds like a dreamy paradise. Thanks so much for sending the sunshine to overcome the gloomy Irish weather 🤗

      Well, it is Tennessee, I do love living on a mountain. I love a good sense of humor and you have a wonderful one! We seem to like a lot of the same art supplies and I can’t wait to go back and look at your videos. Have a wonderful Sunday and a blessed week! Fran

    The Namura brush looks very interesting. If you are willing, please make a review of it and compare it to natural sable, if you have any. That would make for a very interesting video 🙂

      Thanks for the suggestion! 🤗 I will make a comparison video, but need to use this one for a few more months first.😊🎨

    Hiya Lianne, thanks very much for another great art haul, this is my second time around watching it! I'm particularly taken by the Roman Szmal mop brush with the longer hair, the Japanese pigment brushes and the Roman Szmal paints. Regarding the first two, have you had time to form an opinion, particularly about the brush? I watched your video swatching the Jane Blundell RS Aquarius set and it's fabulous for just about any subject, a really great selection of pigments.
    Take care, David. xx

    • @Papertude
      @Papertude  Год назад +1

      Hi David! Yes, I've been using both. The very slender Roman Szmal brush is still a little strange to me. It has a very fine point which is good for detail but too long for solid feedback. The top half is the only pliable part and it's too thin to deliver as a mop. The set of 5 Japanese pigment brushes are great - exceptionally thin and perfect for outlining. About RS I added 2 recent videos swatching all my singles, it may interest you. Best wishes Lianne

    Have you tried Crescent's Rendr line for markers? The paper is bleed proof. I've found it works well for me.

    • @Papertude
      @Papertude  2 года назад +2

      I tried many years ago and wasn't impressed due to glossiness and pooling but definitely no bleed through. I've been hearing good things recently - it may well be time to give it another look. Thanks! 🤗

    Sorry about those super granulating paints - I wonder how come! So annoyjng! I only bought two tubes after they had just come out when I noticed that I could mix them if I wanted the colours...
    Leuchtturm changed their sketchbooks a while ago. The ones with the yellow sentence " Denken mit der Hand" are new and have a different paper weight (150 gsm). Not sure if the older one was less or more (maybe 180 gsm?)... but these ones you have are supposed to be better for wet media (though not for watercolour).
    Those kraft sketchbooks seem more like scrapbooks to me. You may be too young to remember those (grey) scrapbooks? 😀 Perhaps guache would work in them - since you now have so many! 😋
    I love the Hahnemühle Expression paper although it does go a little wavy if you use a lot of water on it. It really is for expressive painting, not so much for lifting and not good at all for masking fluid. You may already be able to tell from its velvety surface.
    Those Akashiya brush pens look really nice! I won't rush to buy those ZIG brush pens - although I have been eyeing them up for a while - since I currently don't have a lot of projects going that need to self destruct in the near future (very punny)! 😅🤣
    Thanks for showing your haul and for highlighting the interesting Japanese supplies. Also really loved the book by Robert Ingpen. 🤗😘

      Thanks Chrissie for sharing all the knowledge and info! You are so right about the expression paper, very hard to lift from and is seriously alergic to masking tape too! I will try acrylic and guache on the kraft paper sometime. Thanks for all the tips and enjoying my silly joke! Have a lovely weekend 🤗

    Hey Lianne, thanks for showing your harden paint, need to check on mine as well. Also my PV16 Manganese Violet tube also happen to get hard, especially in the lid area. making it impossible to open the tube. I have to cut my tube to salvage some of it. Have you contact Schmincke about it?

    • @Papertude
      @Papertude  Год назад

      No, didn't contact them - chasing these things takes too much time. I managed to get most of it out into the pan and they rewet fine for me. Cutting them open is no fun! Take care if you go this direction.
