  • Paddling a slow moving river and having a good time in the Sea Eagle Fastrak 385 inflatable kayak. Jardine and I make our way to the northern inlet of Utah Lake and put in for some impressive bird watching, story telling [Alaskan survival story], paddling, and meetin' folks [like the kids tressel jumping]. I'll sell you on awesome Izze Sparkling fruit drinks too as the come out of the cooler icy cold. Summer fun in TNP.
Sea Eagle 385FT FastTrack Deluxe Solo Inflatable Kayak 12'6" amzn.to/2rQ8f7w
IZZE Sparkling Juice, 4 Flavor Variety Pack, 8.4 Ounce (Pack of 24) : amzn.to/2rQrCNx
    Spyderco Pacific Salt: amzn.to/2rwZRcp
Casio ProTrek PRG-600YB Japanese Import watch [ultra cool, one of the best]: amzn.to/2rQpINc
    Birds observed:
Great Blue Heron: Permanent resident. Stands almost 4' tall. Catches fish in the shallow edges of the Jordan River. Also eats rodents, snakes, and frogs.
American White Pelican: Summer resident occasionally seen along the Parkway. Has a wing span up to 9'. One of the largest breeding colonies in the world is on Gunnison Island in the Great Salt Lake.
Cliff Swallow: Common summer resident seen regularly along the river. These swallows make their mud nests in colonies usually under the bridges that cross the Jordan River.
Yellow-headed Blackbird: Common summer and rare winter resident of Utah seen occasionally on the river especially during spring migration. The male is easy to identify with its black body and bright yellow head. A few spend the winter in the Parkway where they are found in flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds.
Yellow Warbler: Common summer resident seen and heard regularly in the river. Nests in the Parkway. Feeds almost entirely on insects and spiders.
MacGillivray's Warbler: Common summer resident of Utah. The few sightings of this warbler have been during the fall migration. They nest in foothills and middle elevations in Utah.
Spotted Sandpiper: Common summer resident of Utah and rarely seen along the Jordan River. Spotted Sandpipers have a unique way of flying from spot to spot with their wings arched downward in quick sputtering beats.

Looking forward to your review on that Sea Eagle! I am looking forward to hearing how your kayak handles whitewater and how you made your decision on that model, specifically what pushed you away from the Explorer series.

I've had the Sea Eagle for a couple years now. Great kayak. Surprisingly easy to deploy and it's fast in the water. Wife and I are taking it out this weekend since all waterways in CA are record-full. Good to see something I FINALY OWN reviewed. Saved me having to go buy this! 👍

That's so funny. My wife and I just bought a couple kayaks over the weekend. Took them out on a local lake and had a blast. Use to go out all the time with my dad's as a kid but these are the first ones we've owned on our own. Great way to spend the weekend.

A thing really lacking with our younger generation addicted to their stupid phones...... Getting out into nature is such an eye-opening and learning experience, and it is just plain FUN. I'm glad my girls are learning this aspect of LIFE now while they are young.

I'm always down for a good paddle myself. I've made the trip from Hoover dam to willow beach here in Las Vegas several times and it never disappoints. Hot springs, big horn sheep, and old mining camps, relics from when the Colorado could still be navigated. I have had trouble with inflatable kayaks in the past so now I have an ocean kayak SOT for paddling with a buddy and an 18 foot fiberglass boat for touring.

My go to IK is a Sea Eagle 370 and I would definitely argue one of the best all around values on the market, especially if someone wants to try out this type of adventure style. I was stoked to see your IK was another Sea Eagle product. Thanks for all of the work you do. If you ever want to paddle or camp in western PA, I'll gladly host you or provide logistics.

Love urban kayaking! I kayak the Rio Grande a few times a year during the monsoon season when water levels are high. You can get in a good 50 mile all day adventure from Cochiti Lake to down town ABQ or a short 10 mile ride from the Alameda bridge to Montano bridge in under two hours. Just tested the Victorinox Skipper on a recent 24 mile trip and functioned flawlessly.

When nutn mentioned Sea Eagle, I had a gut feeling he had a Fastrack. I have the longer FT465 -- fantastic in every way in the waters around NYC. 795lb capacity, takes 3 adults but I prefer 2 for extra room. I added a Kayaksailor 1.4 sailing rig, trolling motor, and a powerful 87aH gel battery. The setup totally rocks ass, a versatile pocket boat that lives in the trunk of a car. Don't forget a lightweight carbon paddle. Love my FT465, it's a real boat.

      @greggstankewicz4309 Год назад

@Reallyhappenings5597 hey there-fellow ny’er who is looking at the FT465 or explorer 420x for city and non-city adventures-have you used the FT465 in any swell or whitewater? I would love to be able to use it upstate on whitewater and lakes as well as in the ocean/LI sound for paddling/fishing/diving/maybe sailing someday-was thinking maybe the higher sides on the 420x will keep us drier in non-ideal conditions but love the improved performance of the FT465-would love to hear your thoughts!

When I was young (Explorer Scout) I built a kayak, canvas stretched over a wood frame, the first run was the Bear River, between the Narrows Reservoir and Evanston. Then we went to Yellowstone Lake for two (2) weeks, in the southeast arm of the lake. We had two powerboats with use, we got caught in the Bird Refuge waterskiing, lol. Great time. then a trip down the Colorado River, even more fun.....

Hey Nutn'! I know these don't get the views views that other videos, but they are some of my favorite. I'm a 20 year old college student 1,000 miles from my home in Minnesota and these adventure videos remind me of all the great times I had with my dad growing up. I can't afford 99% of the stuff on your channel, but I swing a Saturday afternoon to get out on the lake in the kayak I'm hoping to buy this August. Hey, if you're ever up in Minnesota during the summer (the North Shore is a must before you die), hit me up and we can go fishing the way I grew up doing it, nothing fancy (pun intended), just a few guys in a well broken in boat living the good life and wetting a line.
