The whole thing is just a PR stunt… it’s wrestling (which Billy Corgan loves) my guess is that the someone they choose will be someone they already know who can deal with the dynamics.

Hey Man... thanks for checking out the video and watching me BS my way through something I know not much about. :D I checked out your video this is how I'd comment if I would have found you before I published. Keep in mind, I'm just making shit up based on what I think they would be looking for. I thought it was cool doing the 3 different guitars together. My only suggestion would have been to change up your angle on each part. So one clip, you are like in the video. The 2nd clip, facing the camera. The 3rd, some other angle that rocks. Editing has its challenges and I figured you wanted them to be able to see your playing... but I might have done that. 1. First Appearance - you'd fit in with the band in that you seem to be the same age. You wouldn't overshadow or take a way from Billy... I'd see you being that cool dude that's dependable and gets it done. 2. Skill - you seem to have it... you played all 3 parts and it sounded great to me. 3. Sound - Twas good. 4. Presence - You did good. You seem comfortable and easy-going and if they are looking for that, you show it. Nice guitars btw... I'm quite jealous. 5. IT - do you have it? Well, that's a hard one to see in your video... but I see more of a glimmer in your news video when you're rocking on stage. Peace to you dude and best of luck. And way to give it a try. I would think that a thousand of the the 10,000 would be eligible...meaning-having the skill...then how many of those selected in the "A" pile can actually drop their life and responsibilities to tour....(commitment).. Ya also have to know that music as a recreation is different from music as a job... .so I believe perhaps 100 selected to have an audition...80 will show up...now selected for non-ego and "easy going-ness " I dont think they are looking for a rockstar. I think they are looking for someone to help power the engine, to keep the Pumpkins moving forward...a brick in the pyramid to help shore up the singer/songwriter....this is only if that the invitation to send applications is real and not just a publicity stunt and the new guitarist has been chosen before all this.....one thing for sure!!!...is that it caused thousands of guitarists to learn some smashing pumpkins tunes.... it will teach them that these are REAL ROCK tunes and not some dismissive songs of yesteryear...How do I know this?..u may ask? Because I too have sent in a bio and recording snippets......But what do I know?
