Let me show you the latest mods to my Boxster! Really getting there now!

  • Our last few videos were a break in proceedings of watching one idiot destroying his car with good humor and bad skills. We are BACK though with part two of the soft top! Yes, in the first one (which you really should watch first BTW) I managed, with extreme panache, to remove the old soft top. Yes really! I really did manage to remove an old soft top from a Porsche Boxster 986! The only problem - really only one problem - was that I had permanently converted into an open air car. Whilst I really could have styled it out and claimed it is now a ‘speedster’, what I had failed to do was to fit the new soft top. My talent (for turning bold and screws with basic hand tools) has left the building and, as may have happened before, I had to resort to professional help. For the car, I mean. Yes, let me show you where I went wrong. In my defence, I really think that fitting a soft top on a car IS a job for professionals only. Participating in an attack on myself, however, most usual people know that before they try it and don’t render their car only usable on dry days. Hmm, OK. Fair point.
    Anyway, watch along because otherwise you’ll miss the sage, wise advice I give after I hand over thousands in order to receive it myself. I will show you the REALLY tricky part of fitting a new soft top to a Porsche Boxster 986 and I will do do with humor and a pleasant English demeanor that may offend.
    You can download all my Porsche model guides at www.jayreadyoutube.com so go and take a look there, OK?
    Why not follow me on Instagram too? I am a CAR guy first and I get around so take a look at the reels and pictures that I take because you might like them! Also you get news on my own Porsche, my MG and other life events there before RUclips! Look for jayreadyoutube on Insta now!

    Have a similar Boxster. Am finding your videos the best to watch and comprehend. I may become an apprentice moron and start having a go at my own. Thanks for all the effort you’re going to and giving me some confidence! Looking forward to suspension, when you do it, as my car does creak a little at the front. Jay, your green hornet is looking very sporty. Quite a good outcome for you given your handiwork and use of the pros when needed. Enjoy the TOD. Did it 18 years ago on 2 wheels. So much fun in and around that area of TN/ NC. If you have the time be sure to stop by Asheville… great brewery scene and of course the Vanderbilt mansion if you have the time for a tour of “old money” - American style! Safe travels.

    When removing the caps from the wipers you use a small screw driver or plastic tool in the small gap between the cap and wiper. Don’t use a blade.
    I’m not entirely sure why you was hammering the windscreen wipers?? Once you take off the nuts just close your bonnet and lift the wipers up. They’ll just come straight off.
    I’ve done exactly the same jobs on mine 👍 Good work.

    • @JAYREAD
      @JAYREAD  2 года назад

      I thought they’d move a bit up the taper if I hammered them. It worked on one of them! Yes, the advice not to use the blade would have been gratefully received in the moments before I stabbed myself! Lol! Thanks as always!
