To my ears, it doesn't really sound like the bass is louder in the mix, it just sounds like they decided to increase the low frequencies during the post-production, which is a choice that makes little sense to me. Still, the guitar work in this song is top notch, maybe one of the best ones they've done.
I agree man, a lot of metal bands like to over compress the bass. But I think this was all done on purpose to bring out the emphasis and dynamic on the melodies in my opinion. Well done to the production and members who wrote this. What a song!
I do not know Norwegian, but sometimes I walk down the street in the snow in Siberia and suddenly the chorus sings in my head - it warms me and I smile
One of my favourite bands; I love the way they take great riffs, build the intensity and remain melodic with killer guitar tones and a slamming rhythm section. As if that wasn't enough they also make great videos.
Haven't heard such a good song ever. Well executed with vibes and all. This is amazing to listen to! Thanx boys! Only wish this was 24 hours long, could listen to this nonstop, but the best moments in life don't last forever, so good on you guys for recording this masterpiece 👍
I happened across this by pure chance. I have enjoyed Kvelertak's previous works however this album somehow escaped my notice until now. This song has made my day. An absolutely extraordinary piece of music! Such innovative composition without the pretension you'll see in many prog bands. Bravo, Kvelertak!
I commented something similar on another Kvelertak video and I will say it here as well: There's a Dinosaur Jr vibe on some of their songs. Great album, great song
I'm glad I heard this song at a local record store. I was like "oh, this track is kinda cool" but didn't think about it more. The next day the song came back to me and now I'm hooked! Good band, maybe I'll listen to their other albums too.
Let me take you back to 2015. Had started listening to an awesome band you may know?🤔 "Kvelertak". One day my best bud calls me tells me he picked up tickets to see anthrax and slayer fo us.🤘 we get talking about what we have been listening too blah blah. I mention ☝️ he says "nay way my dude thats the supporting act on the tour"😱 anyways what was already going to be a great night turned into a legendary night😏 2 life long fans from that night on 🤘
saw them a second time live a couple of weeks ago in camden london.they kick ass.!! awesome band especially live.got right up in front of erland.cant wait to see them again
Its like pulling a magic sword out of a water fall, only it pulls you to the water surface, almost immediately your walking on water, what you dont realise is water wyrds dancing and beckoning to the blades call, they bind around you with an unrestrictive hold, enveloped with a fluid armour of unbelievable wonder, you water walk forth, ashore, and with each focused gaze and projectiles cast, all are humbles by the disarming of the blade, by your choice to spare life wherever possi5and yet truly make a horrific example where the fluid of blood is controlled ❤
Fuck, I mastered maybe 95% of the song, but I can't, for the life of me, manage to play this correctly 3:20 All the others riffs are quite easy and fun to play, but that shit is beyond me.
At the stake, skin melting, I’m calming, await Black fate no slate. No soul to take. No farewells, cry’s or long goodbyes. Perhaps few smiles, Finally a witch dies. No tears to my face. I lived in shame, disgrace. Yes, at the stake, burning. This is my place. No sons to carry my name. No daughters to extinguish flame. Heksebrann. The witch fire, at my feet. No Valhalla, no heaven, no hell. No one calling this hero’s name. No hall of hell offering this devil a plate. No Angels calling me to a gate. But, No weight. Just smoke, everlasting sleep. Stoic in face. I wait.
Probably my favorite track off this album. I got recommendations about this band a lot, since I listen to lots of BOC and Mastodon. This band is really cool! The only song I’m disliking is Mjod and 1985
i love that the bass is really loud in kvelertak songs

BASSSSSS NO TREBBLE

Clearly a great artistic choice they made. Totally agree !
I do not know Norwegian, but sometimes I walk down the street in the snow in Siberia and suddenly the chorus sings in my head - it warms me and I smile
The song is basically about burning a witch in the ice cold north. I speak Norwegian, but even i had to check the lyrics.
The bass is my favourite part of this song so much I learned it by ear. Every time is the first time.
Just a masterpice of guitar and bass. So much diversity out of not that complex riffs and lead. Love it. Best song in 2016 for shure.
I know this is cursing in the church of fans but I'd say the song could just start at 2'17
This just became my favorite Kvelertak song!
Going to see them live on friday, never heard of them before and drunkenly agreed to go with a friend. Thanks alcohol!
Was fucking awesome, can only recommend it to everyone :)
ErzbischofAmurael Did see them live in Munich in November 16, best show i have seen for long ...
Thank your Friend, not only the Alcohol ;)
yes, alcohol made me find this band, too
As Jim Lahey from Trailer Park Boys says, "The Liquor does the thinking!"
i always come back to this one
here i am again. damn
Fuck. This is one of those jams that just slingshots you around the galaxy and leaves you gleefully shrieking.
Mi hermano me puso a escuchar esta banda allá por el 2013 y desde entonces no hay año que no me enganche un tiempo con su música. Gracias kvelrtak
When they do longer pieces, it's always a great listen. Like this one. Probably my fav of all from Kvelertak. Great guitars and rythm-section.
Made a small collection of some of their stuff ruclips.net/p/PLmFh59HS1HKlksCgdiLryisYlNxmSrAaQ

Same!
I agree. I didn't like it at the first hearing. Now I love it.
I thought this was my comment for a second and wondered why I would have ever wrote this when I loved it
One of my favourite bands; I love the way they take great riffs, build the intensity and remain melodic with killer guitar tones and a slamming rhythm section. As if that wasn't enough they also make great videos.
I just read up on what the lyrics are about. Makes the song even better.
Kvelertak in Tavastia..Finland----> bEST shows what i have seen 2016 and this song...thumbs up
Wow, why did it take me so long to meet this band? I think I'm addicted or in love... In fact it doesn't matter!
Simply amazing...no other words
Coming home tired as all hell, putting this song on....oooooohhhhh yeeeeaaahhhhhhh
J'imagine trop un film épique avec cette chanson en arrière plan.
Ce groupe est trop méconnu. D'ailleurs il pourrait même plaire aux casuals

Their debut album is 50 minutes of non-stop euphoria.

saksedyr! Rock´n´Roll!
Is that a bow'd Bass I am hearing early in the song? Cause that is badass with the distortion!
Fuck, I mastered maybe 95% of the song, but I can't, for the life of me, manage to play this correctly 3:20

how can u not like the, ? :o
Mjod is the best
Thing I love about 1985 is with the tone that’s goin on with the guitar throughout the song it would’ve fitted in perfectly in circa 1985 lol
Kvelertak is the New Mars Volta. Musical masterminds
