    Great setup, can you provide an update? How are things working 1 year later?

    I like the setup. But how do you load Old town kayak on the rack?? As they are heavy, especially when it’s outfitted with accessories.

      @BlueSummitOutdoors  4 дня назад

      Strip it down as much as possible and lay down next to the truck with the rear of the kayak behind the tailgate at an angle. Then lift the nose up and on to the rack. Then lift the rear and slide it on the rack. Easier said then done for sure

    Nice! Trying to figure out the best way to transport 3 Hobies on my Trd Offroad..that bed rack would definitely work!

      I must say I do love the rack, also love the fact that it can be easily installed when you need it and removed when you don’t.

    How deep is the topwater box? Think it would be fine with duffel bags in there?

    Do you need any additional tie downs for front and rear of the kayak? Or is the two in middle of the kayak enough when transporting?

      I know people say you are supposed to, but I never have and I have roof topped a Hobie Pro Angler 17T on a 6 hour trip with just the middle 2 straps around the bars on this rack.

    Who makes that bungee net system and where can I buy it? Thanks for the great video, I'll be doing the same setup (Yak-Decked) in the near future for my rig...

      Tacoma Bungee Net (which is the one I have) amzn.to/3S3ZwL6
      It says it’s for a Tacoma but it definitely fit the tundra snuggly, which isn’t a bad thing.

    Great video. Helped me decide which system to buy for my Tundra. What length HD bars are you using at the top of the rack?

    Do you think it would be possible to install the overhaul on a trailer? I wondered if you could drill the plates to a trailer.

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  3 года назад

      I’m sure it can be done. It may not be easy depending on the trailer but it is definitely possible. The plates are L shaped because they hang over the bed rails, but if you could line that up with the trailer frame I’m sure it’ll work.

    Do you find it necessary to use cradles on your crossbars for the AP 120? I've loaded my previous feelfree straight to the Yakima crossbar with Yakima pads and had no issues going 80mph on the freeway. Picking up my AP 120 this weekend and have been wondering if cradles were needed.

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      I never used cradles on the crossbars for the AP120. You'll be fine doing the exact same thing with the AP120 its a solid boat.

    How many feet long are your kayaks

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Год назад

      12.5ft is the biggest one but I’ve had the Hobie Pro Angler 17T (17ft 250lbs) up there as well for a 5 hour trip.

    Can you use these with a toneau cover

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors

      Certain ones that are compatible like Diamondback bed cover and I believe the retrax tonneau.

    Any idea how the kayaks and Topwater affect your gas mileage? I use a bed extender and load my kayaks in the bed but I'm adding racks and a Topwater.

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  2 года назад

      They definitely affect it but I wouldn't say it's drastic.

    Just installed this ladder rack a month ago. Haven't transported a kayak yet. But will be in 2 weeks. Everyone keeps telling me not to forget hood tie down and trailer hitch tie down. Ugh I don't really want to.... But do you?

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      I Never have, I know people do. I just use 2 cam straps and I’ve been on trips up to 8 hours with no issues. I just tie a knot in the cam strap tag end after it’s tight, so that it can’t loosen up.
