    Best use of lap steel I've ever heard

    From what I can see, I have that lap steel under another name. What a kick in the arse.

    • @AndreasBrink
      @AndreasBrink  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, Magnatone is the most common name for these.

    Awesome! The right tones are played in the right place. Good groove and a lot of expression

    Love the way you think when playing, sounds like you got a right to play the blues, aw huh. Carry on regardless, Mr. Brink.

      Thank you Martin, I've just bought an old Gibson lap steel that I am restoring a bit to get it playable.

    Wow. I mean fucking wow. That shit is badass bro! I'm a beginner lap slide player. I will be practicing my ass off after hearing those awesome licks. I've played "regular" guitar for 25 years so the transition to lap slide is challenging. Thanks for the video man!

    • @AndreasBrink
      @AndreasBrink  8 лет назад +1

      Thank you! Practicing your ass off is the right way to get good at anything. Try a couple of different tunings to find one that fits you and make sure you get a good bar.

      Today is my birthday and I am 64... my gift is a Lapsteel...from my mother and mother in law...my slideguitar is in open E and the Lapsteel is in open D...strings are 18/60! I need „input“ and love this sound...thank you and greetings from Düsseldorf 🙈🎸💥🤘🎶😎

    • @AndreasBrink
      @AndreasBrink  3 года назад +2

      @@Tone.Corner Well, happy birthday! Open E and open D of course are the same tuning but a whole tone apart so you can translate whatever knowledge you have from your guitar to your lap steel. If you want to you could also change the tuning on you lap steel to open E if you prefer that. I use open D on my Gibson lap steel - which you can see and hear in my most recent videos - and the strings are 13-20-24w-34-48-62. The scale length of your lap steel will of course influence what gauges are preferable. There are many good videos on RUclips where can learn lap steel, I have stolen quite a few things from them.

    Dickerson was the forerunner to magnatone amplifiers, and occasional guitars.... they're less common and not as well known as supro lap steels, but this one sounds real good in your amp and pedal rig.

    Really dig the pearloid body on that bad boy.
    What pick up is in it?

    • @AndreasBrink
      @AndreasBrink  9 лет назад

      I don't really know what pickup it has because it is literally built in to the instrument, you can't see it at all. It's under the pearloid. But I like the way it sounds, loud and raw.

      As it says in the video description it's a Dickerson Student. If I remember correctly Dickerson is the same as Magnatone. You can probably find these for around 300-400 USD.
