With 300w on it's own, and 500w when you combine it with another cab, this PJB Compact Plus BG-450 is killer! The buzzing that you hear sometimes was caused by the Sadowsky bass having wiring issues. I wasn't hearing it in the room during filming because I had the DI turned off in my headphones (but it was still being printed to the video).

Modern gigging bass players dream - ultra portable combo that works on it's own for most gigs, but powerful enough for any gig when hooked up to an external cab.

Is this suitable as a stand alone solution for bar gigs? 5 string player.

I guess it depends on the bar size. If the 300w isn't enough you can get a c4 cab and run both at 500w. Mine sounds great with my 5 string, exceedingly clean amp and you fully get the character of your bass.

How well does it handle a low B string at a decent volume?

Ive had mine fairly loud and it handles a low B fine. When I emailed pjb they said they test them with a 7 string bass.
